All good advice so far, but what about asking the GP to investigate the cause of your high blood pressure, after all except in some rare cases it is a symptom not a disease. Bev |

HI Sandra the first thing to do is not to panic. I am 45 and my high blood pressure was first diagnosed when I was 40, i am also 4 stone overwieght. my GP told be that if I my blood pressure had been high during my Pregnancies than I would be prone to high blood pressure in later life. so that may be a cause. Your blood pressure is not extremely high my highest readings have been 180/120 and 200/110, but it is now under control with medication, ONe of the main things that causes my blood pressure is stress (being a single parent and try ing to study for a degree) and if there is any way that you can reduce your stress levels that would be helpful. a good diet is also useful (try and cut down on salt ) and weight loss may help, My blood pressure did come down when I lost 2 stone, there are a lot of differant types of medication that can be used to slow and strenghen the heart beat and these can be very effective . If your need any advice or let me know Linda P |

thankyou linda i'm not to worried about it , its just that i take so many pills now for my other bits i'd like to try and control it with diet and excercise, which is difficult. due to mobility, i'm 42 by the way, i wasn't feeling to bad this morning so i took a stroll to the drs for prescription, it took me an hour and a half, but i feel good for it, though a little red in the face, i'm trying everyones suggestions, and if it doesn't work at least i have tried. enjoy your day sandra |

I think that this tale may not fix your blood pressure, but many years ago I read about a Blood pressure, patient complaining to her doctor, about the long wait, in the waiting room, and he explained, " I know where you live, and the fact that you have rushed here to see me, doesnt help your condition. the wait is intended to let you calm down, before I see you." Best wishes any way, Bob |
