Another good workhouse site: http://users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouse/index.html typed "liverpool st. mary" in the site's search box, plenty of references to St. Mary's but no workhouses ! The 1881 census for Brownlow Hill is also on this site |

Marion, Got there in the end. having checked the batch number, I realised that I already had the IGI record from the family search site. The batch I have is C161122. The C161121 batch covers from 1831 - 1838. The person I am researching was christened in August 1839. I'm still no closer to finding where St Mary Workhouse was though. When searching the internet, nothing comes back with a match. The site for L/pool churches doesn't mention it. I have already checked the baptism records for St Mary's Walton without sucess, my next effort will be a St Marys in Edge Hill I think they had a workhouse nearby! Cheers Paul |

Does anyone have any information about St Mary's Workhouse, Liverpool. I have it on a christening IGI record but even the Liverpool Cenral Library Archive section couldn't help. All I seem to be able to find is the workhouse in Brownlow Hill. Any information would be greatly appreciated. |
