I think this is a hoax. GC would send all their members emails to tell us what is happening, don't think for one minute they would let us know this way, as not every one reads these boards.............

This is what it says on my Home Page- "We’re changing the name of Genes Connected to Genes Reunited. Most people call it that already, so we’ve finally given in. Don’t worry it’s still the same site and you will still be able to access the site from GenesConnected. Hope you continue to enjoy the site. We’re spending the summer making it even better! "

I agree that if every one of us send a e-mail,i do not believe that GC would do sutch a thing,i dont recall seeing any messages from them before,i think it is someone having a laugh.So them let them have a laugh with all our e-mail at least they will have to spend time deleting them all . Val

why change the name from GC to GR THIS MUST BE A MARKETING PLOY NEXT THING WE ALL KNOW IS THAT THEY WILL BE PUTTING THE SUBS UP TO COVER THE COST OF CHANGING THE NAME.PLEASE LEAVE THE NAME AS IT IS WE ALL CALL IT GC. SUE

Genes Connected as a name has served us well enough so far. Leave well alone GC (or GR). Few, if any, will refer to you as Genes Reunited.

I have just e mailed them too.

I've only renewed in the last week. Beginning to wish I hadn't bothered. The site is nowhere near as good as it was a couple of months ago. So many people have left, a lot of peoples questions now go unanswered. How many of us never get an answer to our e mails to new contacts. They should do something about that. I don't agree with it being reunited, as others have said, sort out the other problems, leave the name alone. It's like changing Mars bars to venus bars. Pants!!! Diane

you could make this site better throughout the summer Without changing the name, thank you ,You would be far better off sorting more appropriate problems out ,such as the snails that invade the site every couple of hours ,or the gremlins that keep removing perfectley valid and NON offensive threads willy nilly, and listening to your members who ,by the way ,are paying for this service that is changed without so much as by your leave.In case you havn,t noticed you have been given a clear indication of dissatisfaction.Fred.

what annoys me that you know full well, we wont get an explanation as who are these people that call it reunited. I thought this site was about making a connection with distant cousins that we have never met but we are not being reunited with them as we have never met them. I bet if people email them for an answer it will be their usual rubbish response. Once again GC are not listening to their members. How long do you reckon before we get an explanation? Debbie

Don't care what anyone says - I'm sticking with the name GC - just like I still call Cif, Jif. HSBC is still Midlands etc. etc...........

I dislike the "new" name, much prefer GC to GR and agree with all regarding reuniting friends and genes surely we are not re-uniting with people we never new were connected to our genes. GC makes much more sense! zoë

I'm not particularly bothered what you call it (although I think it will always be GC to all of us), but rather than messing about with name changes, could you please sort out the speed of the boards. The majority of us are paying you £7.50 a year, yet we're getting a substandard service. It's a great site with great people, but spoiled by the speed ... or lack of it! Thank you!

Please leave our GC as it is. Will Friends Reunited be known as Friends Connected? You can't reunite genes - a better name would be Rellies Reunited! LOL Sue P.S. PLEASE do something about the speed of the site. I am so tired of getting the message 'the page cannot be displayed'. I thought it was just me, but there are many other members complaining about how slow the site is lately.
