Just for the benefit of newer members who may be confused by this. This is an old thread nudged up for interest. When Genes started they were called Genes connected and we all hated the name change.

My renewal notice in April came from Genes Reunited!!

Wasn't this what it was called originally and there was a huge outcry when it became Genes Connected????

Not alot changes over the years, interesting to see the same sort of replies to the ones about the re-vamp.

I found this whilst looking for something completely different.

If only we had just the name change to contend with!

Why?!!!! I've never heard anyone call it Genes Reunited. That's such a poor excuse for changing it. Keep it the same, we like it the way it is! Amy

I'm with Bob - if it aint broke dont fix it! No-one I know calls it Genes Reunited. There are pleanty of problems with this site that need addressing before they fiddle with the name. I'm sending them an e.mail. It's the members that make this site and sooner or later they won't have any ! By the way there is a new site, Rootschat which is free! It's struggling a bit at the moment but new people are joining every day. It could be every bit as good as this and not cost you a penny ! BE WARNED GC don't upset your PAYING members. Sue, a bit miffed in Sussex.

A simple message to our dear Michelle. Instead of wasting your time dreaming up nonsensical new names for the site, and without intending to be rude. I would suggest that you forget the name; take your fingers out and get it speeded up, otherwise you are going to have a mass exodus of genes and the only trhing left will be the skeleton minus even its DNA

With the name change, and even though i have broad band, the site is so incredibly slow, i AM SURE THAT WHEN MY RENEWAL COMES UP, IT WILL BE DISCONNECTION TIME........ Bob

Hi GC, I've made 2 connections on this site with people that have the same ancestors as me. I'm just waiting for a possible 3rd. These are connections - I'm not being reunited with them - I've never met them - they live on the other side of the world from me but we have ancestors in common. Like the others - Genes Connected gets my vote - how can you be reunited with someone you've never met? Thanks for your wonderful site. Christine

People really don't like change do they!! Really what's the big deal with changing the name?!

Why make a change we will all still call it GC! Has a far better ring to it than gr and I would rather stay connected to you all. Linda.

It's no hoax... Look at your "home" page (bottom right). I have e-mailed GC as well... Leave it alone.

Sue, this is definitely NOT a hoax!! GC have never done a mail-out with news. If they wish to communicate with us they do it via the boards, and they use the same membership number each time. Sorry!! Maz. XX
