Does anyone else suffer from this? I have just had to have tests done to see if this is why I am in pain a lot of the time. I suffer from Carpel tunnel syndrome and have severe pain in my knees and joints somedays i can't walk downstairs when I get up Once going its not so bad. The doc has given me some new tablets so hopefully they will start working soon. I know I shouldnt be on the comp much as somedays this makes it worse, but I cant give up everything! he he I have looked at lots of sites and they give good info. Should get results back on Fri. Im being positve and hopefully it should tell me why I feel 90 somedays at 32 lol.I have even lost weight and now a reasonable weight and now eat my 5 fruits veg a day Ive tried glucosamine and cod liver oil, both are fine at first then make me feel ill after a bit (and it gives you fishy burps! if you take it you know what I mean!) any more suggestions? love Jan x

Hi Janet i have spondylosis of the spine and neck, osteoarthritus, and rhumatoid in my knees. today is an big big big swear pain, i have been on glucosamine sulphate for nearly 2 months and its just stopped the clicking in my knees, but not the pain.i take other pills as well, have you tried a tens machine, they work on some people unfortunately not me, also if you haven't yet been reccomended ask for a referral to a pain specialist at your hospital.i had 14 spinal injections in january, again it didn't work for me, but it does on some people. by the way i'm 42 feeling 300 today, all my ailments are hereditory a faulty gene. when your feeling low post a message or your welcome to email me,when alone on bad days you need cheering up, i always try to stay positive and think there is always someone else worse off. take care sandra

Hi Janet. I know how you feel. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritus when I was 32. I'm now 40 but some days I feel 90. I have been on every treatment going and have had almost every joint in my body injected as well as surgery to both feet. I'm doing ok at the moment and I try and live as normal a life as possible although sometimes it isn't easy. People don't always understand the pain we go through as it isn't a visible thing and sometimes they make you feel like a fraud but Hey! I'm still smiling. There are always other people worse off. E-mail me if you need any advice or a chat and I'd be glad to help. Take care and hope you feel better soon. Sue x P.s. Lay off the oranges!!! They are not good for you.

Mum (age 83) and a friend (age 43) both suffer! They take Omega 3 supplements. Have just seen today a recommendation for Tuna Oil Capsules - dunno if they may give you fishy burps too!! There are a lot of books in the library about managing pain or about exercise and diet to beat arthritis - and many other chronic conditions. Worth a browse if you can get there on one of your good days. Maz. XX

Hi Janet, Are you on the waiting list for operation,Carpal Tunnel syndrome,I had my op on left hand, last november,it certainly did the trick,I am now waiting to have the other hand done,I had extreme pain in both hands, which travelled up entire arm,to neck.I would recommend the op for it,it does alleviate the pain, and swelling, and pins and needles, symptoms disappear instantly. Hope you feel better soon. kindest regards trish xxxx

Sandra It's Psoratic Arthritis...a spin off from psorasis, another one is in the finger nails which makes them come away, which I also had but the fish oils seem to have completely cleared that one up. Sheila

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 36 which is actually Psoratic Arthritis as I have Psoriasis as well. I was put on to Cortisone pills right away and it was like a miracle. These days they are not used as far as I know because of the horrific side effects. I had to take them for a few years and they left me with all sorts of problems and I had to come off them very slowly. I am 76 now and have a lot of pain but can not take anything for it except Panadol because of the effects of the Cortisone all those years ago. I agree, no-one understands what pain we put up with as there is very often no outward sign and also, it is not only pain we suffer,it is an actual illness which affects us in lots of other ways. By the way, I know about the nails being affected, my thumb nails are bad at the moment. Best wishes and good luck to all Rheumatoid Arthritis sufferers. From Sylvia in Perth WA.

Yes, it is the same thing but the only difference being that like psorasis it can come and go. Strangley mine is worse in the summer because unlike most people the sun makes my skin worse and my hands swell. At the moment I can hardly move my left hand. Apart from injections in my finger joint I only take pain killers and fish oils. http://www.arc.org.uk/about_arth/booklets/6029/6029. Sheila

Hi I know this sounds really stupid but it is so nice to know there are people out there who know how I feel. I've got sero negative arthritis (basically they don't know whats causing it) and fibromyalgia. I've had the treatments so now "go away and take the tablets". The Arthritis Care course on managing pain is pretty good if you've only just been diagnosed with anything to do with chronic pain. It teaches self help methods like relaxation, and distraction (unfortunataely my distraction is to use the computer!) and various other ways of coping with the pain. The only thing is sometimes the pain is so bad you forget all the methods to deal with it! Good luck

Actually I was on the verge of going to the Chinese Herbal shop in Kemp Town Brighton when all over the local news (last year) was this woman who had tried to cure her psoriasis and she had had kidney failure from the 'cure'......it put me off slightly lol Irene, I know what you mean. You cant keep telling people youre in pain and some times it feels like youre the only one in the world. Sheila

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and suggestions hopefully having a good day today, yesterday it felt like I had annoying toothache in my hands and drove me mad I even had to do some retail therapy! I will try the glucosamine again see how long I can tolorate it (It makes me feel sick after a few weeks) Get my results back hopefully Friday at least then I will know whats wrong another part I have been reading about is it makes you very tired which is what happens to me I will get up be fine for a while then get this uncontrolable urge to sleep I get very moody and snappy if I dont go to bed for a sleep (Gosh I sound like a toddler!) Hopefully everything will become clearer on Fri. Thanks millions may you all keep having good days too! love Jan x
