Greeting’s Again. . . Had another look at that census there was another Family living at No. 7 With a MARY COCKROFT aged 61 as head. So that answers that question of why the Knapton’s were boarders. . Look at the neighbour’s No. 11 Hill Street, a relative of the Cockroft ? It states on the 1837 site it was a TOM KNAPTON for both son and Father. MIKE. |

Greeting's Again Lisa. . . . . The plot thickens. . . . . Looked up on my VRI disks and no matches for ether births or marriages. . . Went onto the 1837 site and found the following Births:- OCT Qrt. 1880. TOM KNAPTON. Leeds. cert No. 9b. 450. (no Thomas's found throughout 1880. other than a Thomas Jeffrey in Warfdale.9a. 136. Apr Qrt. ) Then looked up his father's birth 1852 ? using the age of 29 from 1881 census. . . only two THOMAS'S found throughout that year both for the Mar Qrt. 1852. . . :- THOMAS HENRY KNAPTON. Leeds. 9b. 381. TOM KNAPTON. Leeds. 9b. 398. Now if you ask me two named TOM ? that must match some how. Also tried cross checking them via Free BMD but nothing found only one month show for the year we wanted. But what's weired is that it shows them all as " Boarders" on that 1881 census with no one as Head which points to it being some sort of lodging house. . . But for the cost of a certificate I would say go ahead and order it the one for TOM. Good luck. . . MIKE. |

Hi Jean - thanks for that, I'll try it now. Thanks Mike - Those are the ones but I'm wondering if there's any way I can establish their relationship without having to send off for a birth certificate - I know it's probable that they are father and son, but maybe he could have been a brothers child they were looking after at the time. |

I'm trying to establish whether the following (from Leeds)are father and son - the LDS records don't specify in the 'relation' column. Thomas Knapton (age 29) Thomas Knapton (age 1) I'd appreciate any help - It may seem obvious but I just want to be sure. |
