They asked me if I'd do a rhyme I said I would, when I had the time It might be hard but then, let's see Probably be good, para mi I'll say it in Spanish, if you prefer Then it would be "vamos a ver", We four sit around the table Speaking Spanish, when we are able Pat says we're getting on quite fine Especially when she's drunk some wine Sometimes she's strict, our professora And says we talk a load of basura She's usually sat junto a mi So I usually say "Preguntame!" She watches when I do my squiggles And gets annoyed when we get the giggles. So, better get on with it, I suppose ?Cual es su nombre? Mi nombre es Rose! ?Como esta? ?Que hay? Y ?Que tal? Means How are you? and are you well? Yo soy, tu eres y usted es Means I am and you are, did you guess? El cielo es bastante azul The sky is quite blue. See I'm no fool! Padre y madre is father and mother Hermana y hermano is sister and brother Saturday and Sunday, if you don't know En Espanol es sabado y domingo. Oh, let's have another sip of wine! ?Cuando? is when? ?Donde? is where? "Por que? is why? and ?Hay? means is there? "My memory has gone", all will then say Vicky replies "No, you're doing OK!" So then we all think it's time for the pub, We have glasses of vino and tapas for grub, And now I've come to the end of my rhyme "Hasta luego" - See you next time. Sylvia |

Hi Di, I must confess I cheated. We used to spend our winters in Spain (last winter was the first we've been home for 10 years!), and this poem was in our local English paper. I do have a subscription - handicrafts, cookery etc. - on a Spanish magazine so that I don't forget my Spanish. I did after all spend some 3 years learning it! Anyway, I love the poem, Sylvia |
