Just an idea. My 2 children go to the same very small school and today is the headteachers leaving day. My daughter who is 8 has had some serious health problems over the last few years and the school have been amazing with her and my son, Megan has missed lots of school but dispite this and with the teachers continued support she has managed to stay on track. So as a thankyou to the headteacher i printed out, laminated and framed the Unity poem and the children gave it to her yesterday, the result tears and hugs all round. |

Hi Sue, how about this one: TO THE TEACHER It is hard to say goodbye to a good teacher like you, I hope all my other teachers will help pull me through All the struggles I’ll have to face every day in real school, As I try so hard to be good and live every school rule. Thank-you for teaching me many things every day, And caring, so it was easy when mom went away, Now I’m prepared by your kind loving hand, On my own two legs firmly and surely stand. I’ll miss all the things we did in your class Oh, how very quickly the time did pass, I hope I remember all the lessons you gave And try to carry on always being brave. I hope I remember you all my life through, And tell my children of things we used to do, Thank-you again dear teacher and friend, I’ll look for you when my school days end. Thought this one was lovely, We all work together to make our children what they are..... Unity I dreamed I stood in a studio And watched two sculptors there. The clay they used was a young child's mind And they fashioned it with care. One was a teacher, the tools he used Were books, music and art. The other, a parent, worked with a guiding hand And a gentle, loving heart. Day after day, the teacher toiled with touch That was deft and sure. While the parent labored by his side And polished and smoothed it o'er. And when at last their task was done, They were proud of what they had wrought For the things they had molded into the child Could neither be sold nor bought. And each agree they would have failed If each had worked alone. For behind the parent stood the school And behind the teacher, the home. |

Hi Sue,found this, it's just a short verse, don't know if it's what you had in mind "Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile And leave footprints on our hearts ... And we are never, ever the same." Christine |

Hi Sue, This is one someone sent me a few years ago Kathleen There’s someone who is extra nice, Who never fails to do The nicest and Most thoughtful things - - - And that, of course, is you. And then, there’s someone else besides, Who’s grateful as can be For all those Thoughtful things you do - - - And that, of course, is me! |

I wrote this but not for a teacher though Thank you I really couldn’t ask for any better care, in my times of need you have been there. You’ve never rushed me, always gave me some time, to help me sort out these problems of mine. You’ve let me have your ear to borrow, to share my sadness and tales of sorrow. You’ve given advice and shared your wisdom, to make life easier, to give me more freedom. You’ve given me courage, to make me feel strong, when things get tough I struggle to go on. You’ve helped me so much in each passing day, that “ Thank You” seems such, a little word to say. |

Hi Sue found this poem - not sure if its the sort of thing you are looking for though. It came from a web site that is thank you poems. Web Address after the poem. Teachers are the sculptors of young lives. How fortunate our child was shaped by you! A year in your class taught him how to study, No longer lost in thoughts that he finds new, Knowing now the paths each thought derives. Your love and strong solicitude embody Other virtues our child has tried on, too. Under your good guidance hope survives.
