Glenys the Menace! Report 26 Sep 2004 18:38

Viv, I still have my original bottle of Bird of Paradise, from the 70's! Mind you, it's more like Old Hen from Paradise now. Wouldn't usually admit to it, but it's still OK! Do you remember Elegance, too? Bootiful!

I used to use Avons 'Bird of Paradise'. They revived it for a short while about 5 years ago. Viv

I'd forgotten Green Shield Stamps - loved collecting them! Another thing I've just remembered - hard sugar eggs (looked like white boiled eggs but you had to lick them for ages - try biting them and you would lose your teeth as they were hard as nails). Elfx

I used to love football chews, gold nugget bubble gum, london lights (matches that had different colour flames - thanks mum an ideal gift for a child!), lucky bags, bazooka joe bubble gum (save a zillion wrappers and get a pair of x-ray specs), glees, pink and yellow sugar mice on sticks, jubilees, Avon's Sweet Honesty perfume, pretty peach soap on a rope and bubble bath with a bottle top shaped like a poodle's head. Can remember Mum's Playtex girdle! it was always advertised as a something hour girdle?, we always wondered what happened after then!, and she used to put baby powder on it to help get it on! ha ha. Can also remember an old tin of polish, that with a duster, used to make the table gleam, Gran used to have a big bar of household soap, and one of Lifeboy, think it was pink, and that smell!.. happy memories..

I was born and raised in England but moved to the States in 1981 when I was 18. Reading this site has made me sooooo homesick. All the things I miss are probably still available just not readily accessible.
