Memories of Radio Luxembourg, who can forget Horace Batchelor from K E Y N S H A M, Keynsham, Bristol. Tabu perfume, I still wear it even though it has been out of fashion for about thirty plus years. As a child my favourite mag was School Friend & the Anne of Avonlea books. Anyone else remember Jack Jacksons Record Roundup? I have some 7in reel to reel tapes that are supposed to have recordings of those shows on but I can't find out as I no longer have a reel to reel tape recorder. Ah memories Vivienne Platform shoes, anyone remember Roman Sandals? Just a foam rubber sole with ropes you criss crossed all the way up to the knee. |

Brenda Don't forget the... Drene-Shampoo of the Stars... before the Amami. If you put the above phrase into Google there are some more interesting memories. |

Fab 208 pertained to Radio Luxembourg - a commercial station we can't get anymore, broadcasting from a tiny European duchy no-one would have otherwise have heard of, probably. The DJs I remember are Tony Prince, Mark 'Woolly' Wesley, Dave Christian, Kid Jensen, Pete Powell and Paul Burnett. Reception, on 208 medium-wave was so poor, I'm pretty sure teenagers only tuned-in during the 70s because of it's association with the mag! |

Feeling very nostalgic reading through all of this thread. I used to get Bunty and Judy magazines, Bunty had the cut out paper dolls and clothes. Perfumes were Kiku, by Faberge, I think, Gingham, so sickly and Moondrops by Revlon, and Blue Grass. As a teenager I used to get Fab208 magazine, somthing to do with the Radio station. My friend put an advert in for a penfriend, she got over a hundred replies!! We all took some to write to, I had four, expensive hobby then. Bluebird toffee, can you still buy that? Also lemon pips and Jamboree bags, as well as Lovehearts and... please can I have some!!! Sue |

The first Skates that I had, were made so that there was a pair of clamps that you wound in with a key. to catch the sole of your shoes....steel wheels, and you can guess how long the shoes lasted,......they pulled the sole off the shoes, yea you are RIGHT you walked around afterwards, as if you were still wearing them. I recall that when I was about 17, we used to go to the skating rink, at Forest Gate, In London, and one celebration night, me and my mate took a couple of young ladies home, to Walthamstow.....on the LAST bus.....OOOOPS! we started to walk home but ended up SKATING home,( We had our own skates, with wooden wheels) at One oclock in the morning..........!!We needed new wheels after that!!! |

Connie Did the wheels have ball bearings in? After a while one one side the front wheel would go almost square as the rubber wheel wore out. I used to skate on mine up and down the street. It must have been in the mid seventies I had them and remember wearing plimsoles with them. They could be adjusted to fit the size of your feet. memories..... Elaine x |

|Do they still sell Delrosa Rose Hip Syrup? It was mixed with water as a drink for babies. When I was sent to the chemist for some I always used to have a swig out of the bottle on the way home. Delicious Couln't do that now with safety caps etc. Linda |

Hi Lynda, Black Magic chocolates! I havent seen them for sale in New Zealand , but pay a fortune for Frys chocolate cream bars when I see them here And the tall bottles of bath oil from Avon in floral fragrances. My Mum said that was one of the things she missed most when I got married and moved out , the scent drifting down the stairs from the bathroom! |

Skates, the silver ones with four wheels and plates that you fitted your foot into whilst keeping your shoes on. They had red leather wingy things that you tied together over the top of your foot to keep them on your feet. When you skated, you felt everything ( gravelly stone streets , or even cobbles ) on the soles of your feet . After taking them off , your feet vibrated for 1/2 an hour afterwards. |
