Am I the only person living in Hartlepool on this site. I know Jo is in Yarm but is she my nearest fellow member? I haven't even seen anyone on the northeasterners thread. I feel like an orphan!!! |

you don,t need to feel alone Maureen, harlepool is nice ,we come down every few weeks for the day .The beach is lovely, the harbour ditto and your shoping centre is good, but above all else, next to yorkshire, your fish and chips are tops. You could always start a north east seaside town thread, you would get some company there i reckon.Fred. |

Maureen Hartlepool is where they hung that monkey isn't it? You are way up in the frozen north, but I am with you in spirit. I must say it took me a bit of time to realise that Jo in Yarm was up north too, I thought it was her abbreviation for Yarmouth! You are never alone when you share your family historimania with others. I have been to Cumbria and Yorkshire on holiday, and to Manchester on business, but I am a southern softy at heart. Cornish, Warwickshire, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Kent, London, Buckinghamshire and Surrey blood runs in my veins. H. |

Thats why were off to Southampton for a few days, we want to see what the sun looks like! |

Hello Maureen . . . . . I live in Stockton (on Tees that is!). My family originate from the Headland, Croft Terrace, and my Grandfathers brother was killed when the Germans bombarded Hartlepool during WW1. Helen Evans . . . . . "Who hung the monkey" is a bit of a sore point in Hartlepool. Don't ever go in a pub there and say that!!!! |
