Now I have never been a real...Percy thrower but for some reason this year my small garden is full of slugs in the evening. Now I'm not talking small slugs but ones that are about 3 inches long, very fat and meaty. Every half hour or so last night I went on slug patrol and found a good couple of dozen. where on earth have they all come from and above all how do I get rid of them. I must be careful as I have a cat and dog...Someone said to put salt on them (do they taste better that way lol) I can't even walk out in the garden of a night barefooted because of these horrid slippery critters Lynn |

Lynn it's all the rain thats bringing them out (well at least up here in the N.E.) What we do is fill a bucket with water and add a handful of salt, then pick em up and put em in the bucket, next morning empty the bucket down the drain. Dosen't that sound disgusting, but its better than scraping melted corpses up off the path! |

Sprinkling them with salt really does get rid of them. It shrivels them up before your very eyes! Have trodden on a few in the garden, not very nice in bare feet! Maggy |

Be it called a snug or a slug they still make my toes curl. Just came back indoors from another slug patrol, Neighbours must think I'm mad going round the lawn with head down armed with a dustpan and brush with which to sweep them into. Big bucket of salt water is at the ready....these blighters won't get the better of me. Lynn |
