cherie, those rellies who were not abducted by aliens changed their names - Gifford to Stanley; Alice to Nell, Ivan to Frederick, Charles to Bill, Agnes to Amelia, Thomas to Charles, Beatrice to Bella, Amelia from What?? Then there are the spelling mistakes the transcribers make!!!!! Maggie |

My husbands rellies werent kidnapput on earth by aliens I think they were put on earth by them though. Cant find any births, they suddenly seem to pop up in the early 1900's on census and ww1 records. |

This is an interesting point, I know what you mean aout the frustration!!! However, I think that 99% of these people are traceable, it is just a question of time and effort. We seem to be on the whole a nation of hoarders, and I really believe that they are an awful lot of attics with long forgotton boxes of dusty old letters/photos in them just waiting to be re-discovered. As time goes by people will move house and sort them or their rellies will find them after their sad demise. Hopefully with all the publicity that genealogy is getting and more and more people getting interested, new info on long dead rellies will turn up. So don't give up hope, and more importantly- don't throw anything away!!!! |

Cherie, Yup, mine are obviously somewhere up there with yours. They also seemed to have a built in hatred of censuses, as they are on so few. They also loved hopping about from place to place, so that I am always mentally playing hide and seek. they hid and I seek. I suppose it keeps us interested though, plays havoc with the nerves mind you. Happy Hunting Lynne |

im so glad im not alone..not that im pleased we are all suffering with the fustration.i know my grandads family kept detailed records etc but they were last in his aunties possession..i cannot trace her family though,i wish i could just to see if theres any photos or memoirs i could copy.i find all the history stuff facinating but i feel so down when i cannot bash the brick walls down.im now stuck in 1807 with an unmarried mum of two boys..the parish records i need to find her parents are not at the records/archives centre..so where do you go next??im soo envious of those whove got further than 1700 how did you do it?!!!!!!! im heading for a nervous breakdown as the need to get further back makes me sit here hoping someone can answer my plees,of course all my rellies up on mars having a right laugh. |
