I don't get them and I am not exactly sure why. I have Microsoft messenger turned off and it may be that Norton takes a hand too. I have just read a suggestion that hitting the ESC key stops them flashing - could someone try that?

I tried it and it only works if you stay on the same page. Lindy;-)

I have had another look and it's Norton AV that stops the d**n things. If you have it - turn that option on.

I agree we shouldn't have to find ways round those ads but I found the only way to stop them flashing was to uninstall flashplayer. if I want to view a site that uses it I then reinstall it and uninstall again afterwards - a nuisance but at least the ads stay still:-) Judith

Hi Joy, I didn't know either but someone on these boards posted an addy for the uninstall programme and the instructions were simple enough even for me! http://www.macromedia.*com/support/flash/ts/documents/remove_player.htm (remove the *) Judith

Uninstalling flash player will stop flash files but the site replaces them with animated Gifs. To stop these you must go to internet options/advanced/ scroll to mutimedia and uncheck the box "play animations in web pages" this should freeze the gifs. The default setting allows them. If you have spyware blaster installed go to Tools/flash killer and check the box. Bob
