Have finally found the strength I needed

Thursday was the 1st Anniversary of my lovely Hubby's death, and yes it was a very sad day. I sat quietly at the moment and had a long talk with him(daft I know) but I did feel better for it. Up until now I have not been able to sort his clothes, but from somewhere, I like to think it was from him, I found the strength to make the first positive move, one more tentative step into the future. This morning I phoned the Martlets Hospice and asked when they would be prepared to collect, I wanted a set time as It would be too sad for me to be surrounded by the black bags. They are coming in just over a week which will give me time to do it. I see it as having a balloon with several strings, which you slowly cut one by one until the last string is severed and the balloon floats gently up into the sky, always there overhead. I would like to take time out to thank everyone who has sent me such kind messages in the past. Lynda

Thinking of you, Lynda. Not the same as a partner, I know, every person is unique ... but it would have been my Mum and Dad's wedding anniversary yesterday, and next Friday is the anniversary of when my Mum 'went'. Still find it hard to say died. God bless. Joy

Lynda You sound like you are taking things one step and a time and being kind to yourself. Well done! I know how sad/hard it is to go through the belongings of people who've left us. When you are ready to let the belongings go, you aren't letting go of the person, they will always be in your heart and thoughts. But you are getting ready to move on to the next phase of your life. Give yourself a pat on the back! Nell

Lynda, I will be thinking of you, you are very brave. You are not daft talking to hubby. Many people do that and I am sure it helps. The balloon idea is a very positive way of thinking. Take care. Jill xx

Hi Lynda I'd just like to send you best wishes and hope you find all the strength you need to get through. I'm so very happy that you chose the Martletts Hospice because I spent a lot of time with my Mum there last year when she passed away. The staff are a god send and it is a beautiful and peaceful place to be. Thank you because of your generosity someone else will benefit. Sheila xx

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart, your messages were wonderful to receive, and will inspire me as I move on. Thanks especially to those that have had recent bereavements, and painfull anniveraries!!!. Dorothy you are still within your first year, may I wish you lots of love and strength, and as you rightly say we'll get there. I chose the Martlets as they were so so kind to us, and were supportive to me following his death. Thanks to the Hospice At Home team my hubby was able to remain at home where he wanted to be. Don't know where I'd be without all you lovely people. Thank you again Lynda xxxxx
