I know I'm going against the flow of opinion but I don't like them. Much as I don't like the abreviations used in text messages, it's dumbing down the use of the English language. I've seen other sites using them and it looks like a kids play centre. Paul |

Yes, there are occasions when I have to :-) when adding a smiley would be easier and it would be good to have a range of emoticons. After all, if you don't like them, you don't have to use them, but ithey do help to convey the tone of what you are saying, which is quite difficult when you are just reading text. nell |

Yeah I like Smilies :) - use them all the time on my 'Messenger' site. And when I was a consultant selling cosmetics belonging to a Very large company beginning with 'V' owned by a one Mr Branson ;P mentioning no names :O........the consultants had similar message boards with a nice collection of colourful smilies.... :D |

hi elaine, judging by the amount of e mails i get where people do use the smileys, i think it will be a landslide vote in favour of them. personally, apart from my t shirt, most of my e mails, my personall stationary, my bedroom curtains and tastefull matching bedding, i havnt much time for them. lol; am now trying to think of the silliest thing to have them on. sue. now theres a thread for you ! |

I'm sorry, I agree with Paul. Not only that but I don't like LOL (unless you genuinely ARE laughing out loud) |

I've only used LOL in one (maybe two) thread/s ... and I really was laughing out loud. It was so funny! Joy |
