I have a Sarah Hodge born in Torquay Devon 1863 On the 1871 census return of St. Pancras London age 8 she is with her parents. On the 1871 census return of Wappenham Northamptonshire age 8 she is with her Grandparents. Now how can that be? David Hodge

Hi, I'd have said that both families thought that she should be with them that night. Or maybe the parents just included her name as she was a member of the family ? not knowing that it was supposed to be 'Who was sleeping in the house that night' ...or ...not sure how they actually did it back then, but, maybe she was at one of the houses when the enumerator knocked on the door, but then she went to the other house and was there by the time the enumerator knocked on the second door ? So the records would actually be correct, she was in both places when the enumerator knocked ? Possible ?? Elaine :-)
