The whole point now is that gr doesn'r give away your email address anymore. If you send someone an email it comes from you at gr not your personal email address. If you choose to give a stranger your email address then fine, that's down to you, but I'm sure a lot of people didn't like the fact that it was just sent. Me, I don't mind either way, email is only a small part of what this site is all about. |

This was on another thread previously - the updates to the email system is in addition to you recieving your messages in your own mail inbox. Those who were having problems found it was down to having an over-active spam filter, but if you email GR directly they will help. |

take your point paul, but i get quite a few personal emails from people on this site, and using the old system,i was able to reply straight away, and also outlook express automatically remembered their name and addy, making life sooo easy...its the old addage...if its not broken, why fix it... on a more personal note,as your in IT,if i mail you with a website, will you have a quick look, and give me your honest oppinion..have already mailed judy, waiting for her reply! bryan. |

Me being dim had to ask a question about this very matter - I don't like the idea of having to go through this site every time I want to converse with a contact - does not sound too private to me ! PS - Point is Paul we should not have to.. |

Bryan, Can't speak for the guys that run the site, but I imagine that they've introduced this form of mail system to counter all the "my mail never got delivered/got lost in the ether" type complaints they've had in the past - at least this way your mail is always available. I'm not 100% thrilled at the new system too, but I can understand why it's been done, so I'll live with it. Whats to stop you including your email address in a mail to someone if you want them to have it ? Thats what I'll be doing. Paul |

Hi Bryan I have just sent someone my email address through a message on this site and it worked, it is a stupid way of doing things but there you go. Debbie |

hi michelle,i do like the changes, that have been made...but you have really messed up the email system. before...someone could contact me via this site,it would go to my oulook express inbox,i would open, read it,and reply...when that person got my reply, they had my personal email,so next time they emailed me,they had the short cut. now..i receive a note from gr,saying i have a message..click here..that takes you to the gr site..so now the only contact we have is through gr...surely,this is a backward step. bryan. |
