Hello Joanne, I only just beat you in through the door, so welcome! Haven't got down to any serious family history research yet (at least on this site), as I've become too distracted by all the social chit chat on the message boards, lol! Anyway, next year in Jerusalem, perhaps? lol! Good luck and enjoy yourself! Philip

Hi Joanne ! Do what Mandy suggested and click on the "New to GC" thing. It will get you there ! A thread is what you started with your question. And all of the replies to it are messages on that thread. You don't need credits on here to ask someone to search for you. - Just ask on the Records Office Board. Ask away - someone will always help :-) Rick.

Joanne, you've done well to go back six generations. Like Mandy says, have a look at "New to GR" - you'll get plenty of encouragement and help if you ask.

No John, I'm sorry I did tell you I was thick!! I wasnt sure where to start, hoping I'd get some feedback and ideas on here.

Are you using Record Offices/Libraries etc or internet sites or a combination?

Joanne, look down the green column on the left of the screen and click on the bit that says 'New to GR' - this will give you lots of help to get going, and lots of useful websites as well. Good luck.

Hi Joanne When people mention credits, I think they're referring to 1837online which is a pay-per-view site for searching births, marriages and deaths. Threads on this site are what you've just done - added a message, these are known as threads. Don't be afraid to ask any questions, we were all new once, and you will find everyone really friendly and welcoming. Welcome! Mandy :)
