Does anyone know why GC is so slow, it's been like this for a few days now and getting worse. Jo. |

It's working fine for me now, but it was v. slow when I logged on at about 9ish. I thought it might just be because lots of people were using it, but it was also s-l-oooo-w last night after midnight and that can't be the volume of users! nell |

Hello Jo, I don't know why it's so slow, but thanks for raising the subject, I was thinking of doing it myself. I've been a member for a few months now, but two things are driving me increasingly mad. The first is this paint drying problem. GC/R has got to realise that they're competing with millions of other websites for our time and attention and, if we have to sit here like Christmas puds while the whole thing warms up every time we come on site, we've got limited time and a thousand other things pressing for attention. Much as I really enjoy chatting to others, I simply can't afford to be staring into space day after day while the green dots slowly expand across the bottom of the screen. GC/r, please get your house sorted and your technology fixed and up to speed! Secondly, there seems to be a permanent state of insurgency and underground warfare going on, which is devouring oceans of time and space, something to do with GC/R's apparent dictatorship or something. I don't claim to understand what it's all about, I don't really want to know either, to be honest, but it clutters up the threads space incessantly, and slows down again the whole operation. Hope these issues can be sorted out soon, but together they're making my visits to this website less than pleasurable. Hope I don't reach the point where I just give up and decide to pull the plug, I won't go in for great histrionics if I do, simply slip off into the night! 'Nuff said from me! Philip |

Jo, it's been slow since the upgrade - especially on the message boards I find. I did raise a thread - 'Site Upgrade versus Performance', and Michelle from the GR team did reply that they were looking into it. It seemed to improve for a couple of days, but it's definitely become sluggish again :( |

Not sure. It was awful yesterday I gave up completely. It seems to be a bit faster today but seems to randomly ignore keystrokes. Angela |

Ditto. I had to leave the chat room before it crashed my computer! Threads don't seem to be as bad though. |

Last night was ridiculous! I tried several times and gave up in the end, as it was just at standstill! I don't have this problem anywhere else but on GR. |

Good I thought it was just me!!!! I gave up in the end and stuck me nose into a book. I must say since joining this board I've not done much to my tree. Julie |
