When did Watford Workhouse close?

I presume you have tried your local reference library and archives. Why not try a letter to a Watford evening newspaper (letters page) asking the help of the public, I have had a lot of success in the past writing to newspapers. |

My mother was raised in Watford Workhouse, the address 60 Vicarage road, and left the Workhose when she married my father in 1935. Later my Great grandmother died in 1939, address 60 Vicarage road. The workhouse then became Watford General Hospital when the the NHS was born in 1947/8. So when was the last inmates discharged? David Hodge. |
