seeing as you've been so brave, Anne Marie, I'd like to stand with you and admit.........so do I!! Infact, I do all my friends ironing (for a small, nominal fee). I find it so relaxing, and have a wonderful feeling of satisfaction on seeing a large pile of clothes, neatly folded and pressed!! In fact, if they turned up with the straight jacket now, I'd probably give it a quick press first!

I used to quite enjoy doing the ironing when I was working in London. I did it on a Sunday evening and listened to Radio 4's Classic Serial at the same time. But now I do as little as possible because a) I don't wear such posh clothes anymore as I don't work in London, but in a primary school where practicality is important. b) In our new house it is a real palaver getting the ironing board out and set up and plugging the iron in where it is not going to be a safety hazard with two active boys running about. c) However, we are planning an extension and I want a larger laundry room where I can have the ironing board permanently set up and then it won't be such a hassle. My boys would never go into a room containing a washing machine except under duress! nell

When I'm ironing I usually think of my ex's face being on the board - the clothes come out perfect!! LOL

Anne Marie, I enjoy ironing but need the motivation to do it. Doing ironing when I could be online? No competition! Viv

LOL - just goes to show how many 'closet' ironers there are out there ;) I 'do' like ironing, especially with a good film to watch on tv. Mine just becomes a chore because I don't have enough time to do it regular :(

I hate ironing i have only just been aloud to do hubbies shirts as for years i kept putting tram lines down his sleeves, and as for sewing well that i am not aloud to go anywhere near as my stiches aren't small enough and my buttons keep coming off
