Hi all, Just managed to get on here again. I've been cooking all day, and now have so much over that I can take it easy for a couple of days! Summer certainly seems to have come now with temperatures soaring even higher tomorrow, or so they say! I am just washing and ironing and cooking - housework can wait until it is cooler. Gave my grandson his clean clothes today with the message to bring his dirty cooks clothes again on Saturday morning. I wonder if he will remember? Not much to relate today, so see you all tomorrow Sylvia xxx |

good afternoon one and all .Boy but it'shot here in Newcastle,i got an hours work in the garden this morning, and as the heat increased ,i moved onto the housework ,b ut by eleven it was too hot even for that ,so i did the dinner ,and have sat on a chair ever since ,checking my family tree ,and watching the birds ,in the garden [the feathered variety folks] i am too old to get myself exited ,so i ingored the thread about thongs shorts aaaand--------- there you go,knew that would happen [slaps forehead in an atempt to knock piccies of nubile .scantily clad maidens from his brain] ,heeeelp..anyway ,i watched thrushes ,blackbirds and spuggies all feed themselves and their offspring ,go for a bath and then flatten themselves on the ground and sunbathe,.but it's too hot for them now to do even that. One of the regulars is too posh to join the others in the bath ,he ,or she hops into the greenhouse ,and goes into the big trays we have to put the tomato plants in for watering ,and has it's bath there..some birds get really spoiled.we even have swallows nesting in the eaves of a house round the corner ,so Liz and i watch them a lot in their frantic acrobatic displays hunting for insects. The puter and i are being kept cool by a fan which i have at floor level to keep the case cool ,but angled up to go up the leg of my shorts to keep me cool ,i got that idea from bart ,and it works a treat. it looks as thoughj i had better go and fill the bird bath up again ,that's the third time this afternon,it's getting to be a chore,i think these birds are taking the mickey .see you all later ,Fred.PtfA&G&G&S. |

Hi everyone, Its another sunny day here I thought I put a message on yesterday but I cant find it, its either another senior moment or my laptop is now playing up again. Quite a few of you know that I have problems with my computer at the moment and now my laptop wont let me access either MSN or Yahoo and this morning I cant get onto my bank site. I am glad you are all keeping busy, though it does sound as though some of you are having trouble getting on to here too. I'll go before I lose this message but will be back soon. Love June xx |

Has anyone played the new puzzle SUDOKU thats appearing in the newspapers and magazines. If you don't what Sudoku it is a grid of nine large squares containing nine smaller squares and pre-selected numbers between 1 and 9 in some boxes. The challenge is to solve which number between 1 and 9 goes where - the lines across and down much contain the numbers from 1 to 9 with no number duplicated down or across. The papers print various versions from easy, medium and hard. Sounds easy? I recently bought the computer version of the game which naturally has more features and its great fun. John |

Hi Folks.... This is Jacq in Grenada with a new name! My sister told me I should change it and she chose this.....Oleander is the name of a flower plant here. I haven't been on for a while because basically I gave up trying to get in!! Also not much to report!!. My visitors will be arriving on Sunday so lots to do about the place, want to get the garden straight and that's not easy here. We have had a lot of rain and a really big storm about the same time you did in England. Trying to keep the house clean with 5 dogs running in everytime it rains....muddy paw prints everywhere....so lots to do. Hope everyone is OK and now that it seems a bit easier to get in will be back more regularly. Jacquie xxx |

Good afternoon from down in NZ My wife and I are celebrating 32 years of marriage today, 23 June, I had my birthday on 21 so in our family no-one forgets either day. I know some people find dates hard to recall but in our family we have birthdays, deaths and anniversaries tying in with one or the other. I noted Judy says her husband can't decide as to who to support with the Lions/All Blacks up-coming tests. My wife loves rugby and I have a passing interest. When the test is played I will be watching a drama on another TV and my wife and son will watch the game on Sky. Recently we had 'Dancing with the Stars' which went down to the wire with a former All Black Norm Hewitt and his dance partner winning the final over an actor from Shortland Street. A lot of the people who were partnered with actual dancers had never danced before and it was fun watching film of them learning the various moves. I was reading that the States have their version of the programme and seems to be more theatrical. John |

Hi all, Well it took me a long while to find this thread this evening, but I did, and that is what is important. Just imagine if we lost it, what would we do??????????????????? Annemie and I had a nice shopping day out in Almere town today. We walked around the market too. Lots of people out of course, but not too bad. Have seen it worse. We arrived home at 2.30 pm and I was greeted by my grandsons washing. I didn't know he was bringing it. Just supposing Johan had not been at home. Jan wants this washing back tomorrow morning! Well I've washed his cooks trousers and jackets which were full of stains, which I had to treat first. I have also ironed them so have not done too bad. I have left his jeans and shirt for tomorrow as I thought these were not so important as his working clothes. He must look nice and clean in the kitchen. He will really be a good advert for 'somebody's mother IS using Persil'. I have also made bread this afternoon - yes, all in this heat, so now my turn to sit behind the computer. Well all have a nice evening. Sylvia xxx |

Hi all It is a fine day here for once, not complaining though as we need the rain. Most places around here have had their monthly average rainfall in just 10 days. Sylvia v O and Johan, Hello I was reading back on your messages and I hope Johan is ok with his heart rhythm. I have heart problems also. My heart has an irregular heart rhythm and for no reason it would take off and start beating at about 220 beats a minute. I had to go to the hospital and get the heart shocked back into normal rhythm, so I have had an AICD unit fitted to my heart, so when it goes into this irregular pattern and beats too fast, the unit will automatically shock the heart back into a normal rhythm. Its not as bad as it sounds and the best thing is I am still here, so it mustn’t be my turn for God to take me yet. Best wishes to you both. We heard about the thunderstorms in England I hope all of our FNW's in the area are safe and had no damage to their property. Well hello to everyone else on the thread, I will check back in later. |

Hi all, Yes, I've also had problems trying to get on the site, but hey, I'm here now. Not done too much today. Went up to Annemie and Frans for coffee as it was Frans's birthday. Only for a short time as we will celebrate it later on when our other neighbours get back from Hungary. I made a card for them with an invitation for a meal out. What else can you give to a couple who have everything? I then popped round to the doctors surgery and deposited some notes for tablets which I need. We have a good system that they then drop the prescription in to the Chemists and they the chemist subsequently deliver the tablets to our door. An ex neighbour telephoned today and said she had bought a new telephone and could Johan fix up the wiring for her. Johan told her to bring the lot here and then all she has to do is to plug it in. She is coming on Thursday, so I have asked her to stay for dinner. On the way home from the doctors I popped in to the supermarket and got some extras in house. Tomorrow Annemie and I are going by taxi into town. We haven't done this for a long time - well, the weather hasn't been inviting has it? The weather is a lot colder today than it was yesterday, but it is dry! Now have a good evening all, Sylvia xxx |

Hi me again, I dont know what is happening this morning, the internet seems very slow, I have deleted my cookies and temporary files but it doesn't seem any better. I couldn't get my Bank up on this, my laptop, yet I managed to on my computer. I couldn't get Genes on my computer but have done so on my laptop. Weird! I see Marly and Brenda have had problems too at times. Sylvia v O, That restaurant you visited sounds lovely and the area with so much to see and choice of restaurants, I really would love to visit there. Brenda, I see you too have had problems getting on, is the internet getting too crowded these days? I'm glad we didn't have the thunderstorm, it sounded pretty horrible. Ann Glos, You are experiencing problems too getting on to the site, my problems are now today with getting on to the internet generally, funny how I managed to get to my bank on my other computer but not on my laptop, but couldn't get onto Genes on there but can on my laptop. Judy, My grandson now lives in Copenhagen, Denmark and his girlfriend has bought him tickets for the England v Denmark Football Match, he says though he supports Denmark, he doesn't when they play England. Beckham and Bonnie send their love to Anna and Ripley. Hi Marly, Glad to hear you had a good time on your few days away.sorry that the internet connections are so slow. Last night our TV froze and the last 15 minutes of the film was lost. Maybe the problems are with Broadband but I wish they would get it sorted soon. I'm a big enough Dumbo on a computer without them adding to my problems. Well now I have had my moan, I will leave you. Take care everyone. June xx |

Hi all, You are not the only ones to have trouble being accepted on this thread. I often have trouble getting on - perseverance is the answer! Well no sun out yet. Johan has gone to the hospital to pick up some apparatus which he will have to wear 24 hours to measure the rhythm of his heart. He has been having heart rhythm problems again. Twice they have had to give him an electric shock. We don't let these things worry us though. When it is our time we will go, but we have so much to do and so much life to enjoy at the moment that the Lord is leaving us here. At the time of typing this I am not dressed. Nobody can see me, so why am I bothered? When Johan comes back I will be ready and we will go to Annemie my neighbour for coffee as it is her husband's birthday today. When our neighbour on the third floor comes back from Hungary we will all get together and celebrate, but for now just a cup of coffee. I have made a nice card and an invitation for a meal in a Greek restaurant. You see it was Annemie's birthday in May and they will be celebrating together. It is always difficult to know what to buy someone who has everything! Have a nice day everybody Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, Its still very warm here but overcast. I am not adding a long thread today because I have already done so and been kicked off. This evening we have to go the airport to pick my granddaughter up from the airport, after our experiences with the trains last Friday, I think we will be going by car. The station I normally go from is very quiet but this last weekend, a couple were beaten senseless by teenagers according to our local radio, why do they do these terrible things. I will close now and sign on again before I lose this message. June xx |

Hi Brenda & FNW Well today marks our shortest day and it is very cold and bleak but just to prove how quirky nature can be I have a beautiful yellow rose flowering in the garden ! Glad to hear you are feeling better Sue and hope your David is well on the road to recovery. June, lovely to hear news of Beckham and Bonny,Anna and Ripley send their love. Sylvia,'your' Fathers Day sounded great and I envy your choice of so many ethnic restaurants, living in a small rural town our choices are very limited, not even a McDonalds. I note some have had difficulty re posting,I've had trouble only a couple of times but that is probably because of our time factor and most of you are all nye nyes, and we down unders are talking to ourselves. he he. Fred, are you keeping up with the Lion's tour ? Too many early mornings perhaps. My husband has a split personality during these tours, one minute he is very English but when the actual tests are played, oh dear, decisions, decisions, pom or kiwi !! Well enough nonsense from me, regards to you All JudyNZ |

Hi all, Yes, mum had a lovely Fathers Day. My youngest daughter came around 12.00 noon and stayed until about 4.00 pm and then my eldest daughter came around 5.00 pm and we went out to dinner 6.30 pm. About 4.00 pm Johan kept asking me about dinner, wanting to know what I was going to do as time was marching on and I was relaxing. I had to keep putting him off with 'I'll see later' and him getting annoyed but as I told him later 'have you ever known me to forget dinner'. 'No' of course. Because the weather was so nice we were able to have a table outside by the Greek. The Greek restaurant faces the harbour so its quite picturesque with all the boats there. We have a real choice of restaurants, Chinese, Argentinian, Indonesian, Italian, Greek, Japanese, all in a half circle facing the harbour. When we had finished our meal we came back here for coffee. My granddaughter Linda came round to see her mother as she is going on holiday on Wednesday. The weather is so nice now and I'm going to sit on the balcony in a minute. Have a nice day everybody, till tomorrow Sylvia xxx p.s. Cannot remember all your names - that's me! |
