Hi everyone, Another lovely sunny day, Gaynor is sat in the garden, lapping it up, she gets a lovely tan. I'm waiting for the Gas man to come and service my centralheating boiler, the trouble is if I go out in the garden, Beckham follows me and then we may not hear the man come. I took Beckham back to the vet this morning, his ears are clearing nicely but we have to continue with the eardrops and piriton until the pollen has finished. Brenda, I will ring National Express, I did ring my friend that used to live in Leeds but has now moved back to Fleetwood, her daughter still lives in Leeds, so she is familiar with times etc. She has told me the train that runs direct yet it never comes up on the screen when I go onto the internet. So oneway or another, fingers crossed, I will be going. Sue, We did have our computers on a wireless system that were routed, they worked fine for a while, I am going to ring the fellow that sorted Gaynor's out to see if he can help. I hope you soon get yours sorted. John, I fully intended looking at Sodoku but the phone rang, then I couldn't remember what I was going to do. The joys of old age, lol Sylvia v O, I hope the King shows the little princess that the arms and legs dont come off. As you say, just shows they are human too. Fred, I have decided, you have definitely missed your way. I think you should have been in the circus at Blackpool with Charlie Cairoli and Paul. I can just see you splashing around in all that water.lol. Joy, Bill hasn't been on for a while now, I think his membership will have run out by now. The gas man has just arrived, must go, June xx |

Morning all [just crept in ,seeing as its nearly 11-30 ]but i have been doing all he house ,and garden work before the heat sets in .I have found a new game peeps ,it, called work ,and wet lol. You take your new extending water brush ,get it connected to the hose, find it's still too short to reach the upstairs windows .so get the stepladders out.Are you with me so far,? then i will continue he he.you climb up to the top rung ,and open the nozzle so that the brush squirts the water onto the window via the bristles and the water goes all over the windows ,but ,eh ,what's this? ,water everywhere ,stuck up the ladder water running down the windows ,brickwork ,and what's this ,water running down FRED?,whnat's the daft old git done this time?,he never screwed the joints up tight enough when he put the brush together so more water was coming out of the joints than the head of the brush. Fred ,decided that it was a waste of time coming down off the ladders until he was finished ,and so i have now dried myself off ,and the windows [and Fred] are sparkly clean ,and cool lol.but the moral of this story is ,get the lass to try these things out first [ouch] stop it Liz ,that hurt. I am going to have a sit in the garden now to finish drying off [no ,i will NOT,fall asleep] ,i did that last year.see you all [much] later seeing as i am at the torture chamber tonight lol.Fred.PtfT&A&G&G&S. |

Morning all, Just having a break from housework. Thought I'd better do some housework for a change in case the weather turns into a heatwave again. Spare me! Annemie has just been down. She is off to Germany for a few days so will be quiet without her. We saw our little princess on the television with her father Prince William Alexander. She looked already a few weeks old as she was so big. They have been letting her sister of 18 months get used to having a sister by introducing a doll into her life. The Prince said he often found the doll in bed without arms and legs and its face covered by a nappie. He said he hoped that she wouldn't do that to her new sister! Makes you think that they are also normal families in that respect. See you tomorrow Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone We have a rather cold day here in Auckland, cloudy and sunny. Sue, Don't give up - Sudoku will grow on you, its bit like those codebreakers. Why not visit the Sudoku website on http://www(.)sudoku(.)com/ where a button at the left of that page explains how to solve them. As I mentioned earlier you can purchase your own copy on the same site. John |

Hi All Its very cold here today at present it is only 2 degrees, the roads are very icy with a few accidents and police warning of ice on the roads as well as putting gravel on bad spots. So I am sitting at the puta trying to do a couple of touch ups to my family tree before I swap with a rellie I have just had contact with that lives in Thorney Peterborough. Not sure if any of our FNW’S live near that area? Fred, I am staying right here, I am not going over to the other site to chat and miss all the friendly people on this thread :-)). I also agree with Sylvia and Brenda, you cant beat a lovely shepherds pie. June at least it is not only us having trouble with the puta’s. David is trying to get the 2 computers to work with each other and have them both online at the same time so if I am doing my family research and either David or the Children want the computer, I don’t have to get off to give them a go, especially if I am in a spot where I really cant stop, Im sure some of you know what I mean. He has brought the programs needed but cant work it out, so he has a friend who is a bit of a wiz with computers coming around tonight to have a look. John we have just started having the Sudoku puzzles printed in our local paper and you can win prizes if you get them right. I had a go a one of them and I thought I was going alright until I nearly had it finished and I had run out of spare numbers that I could use, which would mean I would have 2 of one number on the same line or same square and as you know you cant win that way. So I think I will be like some others and steer clear of Sudoku and do wordfind or codebreakers or similar Well I had better go and do some Genealogy stuff. Hello to all who I haven’t left a message for and I hope you are all well, I may check in later. |

I had a lovelly time at the BBQ had loads of lovelly food, chops, sausage, chicken, salmon, duck and burgers(homemade). There was also new potatoes and salad .With plenty of Sangria and then wine and a glass or two of Sheridans which is a bit like Baileys.I did manage a nice cup of tea in the middle as well.!!! Today I have been really lazy and only cooked a full english brekkie and then a roast chicken lunch ,didn't know whatthe weather was going to do really so just did the normal sunday lunch, mind you when my son is out and John doesn't want a big meal,I wonder if it is worth bothering. Fred like Sylvia says a shepherds/cottage pie can be just as good as anything else. June National Express have a good website to check coaches. See you all tomorrow Brenda |

Hi everyone Its anoher lovely hot sunny day here. This morning we were flying around tidying up because we had a young couple coming toview this afternoon. Then we nipped to the garden centre for some more plants because the pansies are looking a tad tired now. The young couple came, fingers crossed that they buy it, the trouble is there are so many for sale at the moment. Everyone has gone out, so I took the opportunty to nip on Gaynor's PC and have a word with some friends on MSN. Its odd how I cant get on MSN, Yahoo or to my bank on this one now. John, When I have finished this message, I will have a look at Sodoku, thats is I can find it. Fred, yesterday I was painting the kitchen ceiling so my son in law, not to be robbed of his bacon butties, cooked the bacon on the BBQ. The Gammon sounds rather good with peppers. JA, Hope you are keeping well. Sylvia v O, Its funny how these grandsons remember where home is when they need something, Lol But they are lovely really, aren't they? We seem to have 'lost' a few members at the moment, I hope they are all well. Love June xx |

Hi all, Well managed to get Johan willing to help me frame three pieces of my needlework today. I had bought red card to offset the pictures. They are 'All Our Yesteryears', rather appropriate if you're interested in genealogy! Although I say it myself, they really look a picture!!!!!!!!! I have also made some brown bread and apart from that nothing, apart from preparing the dinner. Haven't seen my grandson yet, so don't know when he is going to turn up. He will turn up as I have his new pair of jeans and two nice dress shirts, so when he wants to wear them he'll be round. It's a lot cooler here now, but no rain. I could never begin Sodoku as I am absolutely stupid when it comes to figures. I'll try any crossword puzzle - English, Dutch, German and French, but only cryptograms in English and Dutch, but when it comes to figures then I realise how stupid I am! Fred, a good shepherds pie goes down well in our house, so when am I invited? Your son Fred seems like 'the chip off the old block' so to speak! See you all tomorrow - our crown prince Willem Alexander 's wife has been taken into hospital this morning to have her second baby. We are all anxious to know whether it will be a boy or girl. They have a girl - Amalia. Princess Maxima is a bit like Diana, easygoing and the people love her. Sylvia xxx |

Morning folks ,how many of you have seen the new site addy at the bottom of the home page ,it's easy to see where loads of people have gone to,but i hope everyone from this thread ,and the canadian thread are staying put, this site would be ono fun without you lot. Brenda ,so long as the bath is away by 15 feet or so from corners where cats can hide you would be fine, you will always find a blackbird ,or thrush sitting on watch somewhere, and it's funny seeing the cat ,thwarted as usual ,slink off ,tail going ninteen to the dozen, you can almost see what it's thinking[ that ruddy bird *****$$$$$$,one of these days lol.]and the dogs don't do any better ,we have a jackdaw who sits on the top of the greenhouse and taunts them ,it drives the little scottie next door bonkers.he he. Liz and i Had a lovely B.B.Q. at the son's yesterday ,and tried the latest craze up here, tortilla wraps ,homemade ,heated slowly on the coals at the end of normal cooking time when the coals are dying back ,they are really tasty with a little side salad,he also did some largish squares of proper gammon, skewered with green peppers ,red onion shallot pineapple and radish ,beutiful ,only trouble is ,today for dinner we only have a small shepards pie ,freds's own ,but i ask you ,what a come down [sniffle] it ain't fair lol. the weather dos'nt look too good here this morning ,i have already drenched the borders and lawns even though it may rain later on ,so many of the plants are showing sun scorch ,already ,and with the changing seasons and temperatures it may be time to find some new plants that will stand the heat better ,anyone got some cactus plants going begging lol. Well i'm off for now peeps ,things to do and all ,hope you all have a nice day ,and i will be back more often now seeing as most of my research is done ,you lucky people he he.syl.Fred.PtfT&A&G&G&S> |

I wouldn't say brainy there, June. Some puzzles like the crytic crosswords are quite taxing, I never seem to work them out. The straight forward puzzles with anagrams thrown in are easier. I read that some people have made in a competion of the sudoku puzzles to see who can complete it first - with the successful person ringing a bell. I don't think I would go that far. You mention the codebreaker puzzles I did one the other day and it was a stinker. John |

Hi everyone, Its been lovely and warm again here today. I have had a very busy day, the other day Gaynor had washed the ceiling aroung the central heating boiler, she sprayed some cleaner on it and it left it looking as though we had had a water leak. So this morning I decided to give it a quick coat of emulsion. We had a laugh though because Gaynor cant do ceilings because of her neck and John still has problems with his cracked ribs, then there is me, well enough said, lol. Anyway I managed it by keeping having a sit down every so often. Gaynor cut some bushes back in the back garden, so we have been busy. I had to take Beckham to the vet yesterday, he had an ear infection, I thought Bonnie had been generous and passed it on to him. The vet said that they had had quite a few cats and dogs in with the same problem, they were suffering from the dust and pollen the same as humans do, it isn't infectious though. Anyway its half a tablet twice a day and drops twice a day, I hope I haven't this bill to look forward to each year and poor Beckham suffering with it. Sylia v O, I like the smell of Dettol too, I like the one I spray on floors to clean them, too. I have decided that first we worry about our children and it just carries on, we worry about our grandchildren too, I suppose if we are lucky enough to have greatgrandchildren, we will worry about them too. Brenda, I think the birds would be more bothered by the cats than the dogs, the blackbirds just splash water over Beckham. Enjoy your BBQ. I am going to ring my friend in used to live in Leeds, her daughter still lives there, to see if coaches run from here each day, I may be able to make the Leeds meetup yet. John, I think you are too brainy for me, I think I had better stick to my codebreakers. lol Well dinner is nearly ready so I will leave you and wish you a lovely weekend. Love June xx |

Hi all, Well it is a lot cooler here today, in fact almost cold compared with yesterday. We did have some thunder but no rain. I thought when it is cooler I'll be doing some extra jobs, but no. In fact I stayed in my nightgown until around 3.00 pm - what a life! My dear grandson didn't turn up with his washing, so I don't know what he is doing. I'm not running after him, but at the same time am worried as I think his father is away camping this weekend and his sister is in the Canary Islands. He was supposed to be working at Center Parcs today. Oh me oh my I thought my problems were over when my own children had grown up and now I have my grandchildren to worry about. I suppose I shouldn't worry should I? Love to all, Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone Have to agree there Brenda, Sudoku can be hard some days. I like the easy and medium Sudoku puzzles - I am still getting my head around the hard versions that appear at the end of week the weekend. Anyway as I have bought the PC version on-line it allows me to dub in the paper version if I can't solve the hard ones then I carry on working out which numbers go where most of the time I pick the wrong ones which show up as red until I find the right one. Once solved a congratulation message comes up saying how long it took to work the puzzle out. I print off some yes it allows me to do that along with the answers in case I get stuck. Now where is that pencil. John |

Hi everybody, Well my hairdresser came this morning at 9.30 am, so I was pleased she came earlier before I went out to the market. I had to go to the market on my own as Annemie was working - changed her usual day from Thursday to Friday just for one week. I didn't need much from the market so was soon home. I washed the bedding - I changed the beds yesterday! I also finished off my grandson's washing and will do all the ironing tonight when it is cooler. I also washed the bathroom, toilet and kitchen floors with Dettol. When it is so warm, Dettol always seem to be so refreshing. I also cleaned the washbasin and toilet etc. etc. Even though it is warm, I feel I cannot neglect these things. The vacuum cleaning can wait, as can the dusting. I am missing my granddaughter Linda this week as she usually does the bathroom and toilet. I also washed some strawberries and hulled them and put caster sugar over them and then into the fridge. I topped and tailed some beans and put them into the freezer. After that I went and lay out on the balcony and Johan bought me a cup of tea in the afternoon and now he has brought me my glass of sherry. What a man, he knows just what I like! Well he should do after nearly 50 years of marriage, shouldn't he? He isn't doing much at all. I suppose when you get to 80 you are allowed to read all day! I have so much food over from yesterday when I had a friend to eat, that today I have it easy - two portions of food in the microwave and hey milord dinner is served. Keep cool, boys and girls, Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone. It looks as though we are in for another very hot day today. Yesterday, we went to the supermarket to replenish the icecream and soft drinks and did very little else, I did manage to shorten a pair of trousers. Its good to see you here again JA, at the moment I am not able to talk to anyone, I cant get on MSN or Yahoo. Fred, The birds certainly know where they are welcome. I used to love watching the blue tits and robin in my garden but they dont come any longer, I wonder if it is the magpies thats keeping them away. Sylvia v O, How do you manage to keep so busy in this hot weather? I do a bit then sit and then do a bit more and so it goes on. Judy, You are having very variable weather aren't you? I hope it settles down for you, it must be difficult knowing what to wear. I have been reading another thread and Jude is waiting the delivery of some ceramic tiles, it sounds as though she is going to be very busy. I expect Elisabeth is busy in the garden. Has anyone heard from Kathleen, I am getting worried about her. I cant get in touch because I haven't access to MSN at the moment. I know Brenda is busy working, I have spoken with her on Genes messages, we are meeting in Manchester on July 23rd. Have a good day everyone, dont get too sunburnt. Love June xx |

Hi Everybody Looks like I spoke too soon I am now also finding this site takes quite awhile to get into. Our weather continues to be very changeable, yesterday I had a couple of hours in the garden but it got too hot so gave up ,by 5p.m. we were back to cold showery weather and today is very bleak. Sounds like your weather is doing the same i.e. very hot in some parts, rain and thunder in others and I read there were heavy smog warnings for southern and middle areas of England makes for a very interchangeable wardrobe doesn't it. John, happy anniversary to you and your wife.Your new game sounds too complicated for me,I find the evening paper cryptic crossword enough for me ! We enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars, particularly as they were all amateurs and proved that anyone can give it a go.We watched Rachel Hunter on the U.S.show and agree it looked very theatrical. Jacquie/Oleander,lucky girl, now you have two beautiful names. I know what you mean about wet dogs, until recent years we had up to 5 labradors, but as they got older (with us) and passed on we now only have a cavalier who I have mentioned before does not do rain. Fred, you are very wise keeping to the feathered kind of birds, I'm sure in the long run they will keep you out of mischief !! We always have to keep filling the bird baths during Summer also setting out trays of water for the hedgehogs. The blackbirds love the garden sprinkler. Meantime,Brenda,Sylvia,J.A.,June and everyone else hope you are all healthy, happy and content. Regards, JudyNZ |
