Hi everyone, Its another lovely sunny morning here. We did more packing yesterday. Beckham is very confused with it all, he keeps coming and lying by me, I keep trying to tell him that he will be coming too. Today, I am hoping to go and buy him a new collar, so I will get a new disc, with the new address on. Bonnie doesn't seem bothered about the move, she has been through it all before and knows we will take her wherever we go, she just sleeps most of the time now anyway. Bonnie had a new bed at Christmas which she loves but at every opportunity, Beckham goes on it, so I think he may well get a new bed too. Anyway, I wish you all well, special thoughts to Kathleen and Susan. June xx

Hi everybody, I don't envy you June with packing this weather. How is Beckham taking it? I am so sorry Kathleen to hear about your daughter. It's awful how everything closes down the weekends isn't it? try and stay positive at the moment. I remember when Johan had had an operation they forced him to have physiotherapy on the Thursday afterwards, but Saturday and Sunday there were no physiotherapists around. I have been busy baking bread again today - two brown and a fruit loaf. The flat smells so nice now! I am nicely up to date with washing and ironing, so think I'll do some sewing tomorrow, unless somebody turns up of course with a sack of dirty washing! Well we are certainly getting our Indian summer. Too hot during the day but cool in the evenings. Where is our Fred? Do you think he is making Xmas puddings. Can you hear me Fred? Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone, I'm sorry I haven't been on as much as usual, I do read your messages even though I dont always add. I always intend coming back later in the day but what with the heat and all this packing, I often just nod off. Sylvia, I hope Johan soon recovers, he is best at home if he doesn't feel well. Kathleen, I hope Susan is soon better too, poor girl she has gone through so much and so have you. You must be worn out with all the stress. Love and Best Wishes to you both. I haven't much to add, all I am doing at the moment is things to do with the move. Take care everyone. Love June xx

Hello all, Lovely to read your messages, it seems the weather is causing problems everywhere lately. This is only going to be a short message, Susan is not so well and is in hospital on antibiotics and oxygen, she has a clot on her lung. They will do a scan on Monday - everything closes down at weekends!! I confess to feeling very scared about her right now. I will be back Monday evening to let you know what the result is. God bless and love to you all Kathleen

Hi all, Nice to read your letters Sue and John. What complete devastation Katrina has caused. To think that it was only a few years ago we were happily touring through Mississippi, Louisiana, New Orleans. Johan had his shoes polished in New Orleans and we went on a paddle boat steamer, having dinner listening to jazz. To think that all this may be finished now. I wonder if the bible in fact was right in forecasting these devastations. The weather here at the moment is very humid, hundreds of minute flies everywhere. The town where I live is built on reclaimed land and it was only 26 years ago all water. Am I worried, not really. We have a harbour festival here this weekend and I scooted past all the tents etc. this morning on my way to the market. Not that I wanted anything from the market, but needed some other shopping. Like to get out when the sun is shining. Johan is not so good at the moment, very breathless and said he doesn't feel like going to Scotland in the state he is in. He has an appointment with the doctor on Monday morning. It was in Scotland where his heart valve problem started. He just managed to get home for his operation, so can imagine he is being cautious. I am disappointed, but his health is No.1 Have a nice evening everybody. Sylvia xxx

John Report 2 Sep 2005 02:57

Hello everybody Haven't come GR for some three weeks and a lot of dialogue has moved along in this thread. We must all be thankful that we aren't experiencing the New Orleans disaster. What a chaotic mess, no wonder there has been comments of relocating. I read in the paper this morning this chaos could have been avoided if man hadn't interferred with the wetlands and the coastal areas. It seems we never learn. A week or so ago we decided to rearrange our lounge initially we thought it would be easy - bookcase hidden behind an armchair and this chair here and that chair there - but when it came to the TV we had forgotten that the sky decoder had its own cabling so, on the phone to get their techician to install another, mind you wasn't took expensive thank goodness. The strange thing about the layout it was back to what it was 15 years ago - they say history repeats itself. Greetings to Joy, saw your comments didn't know Judith was going to UK - say hi from me. I am typing this listening the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra playing film music with Carl Davis conducting. I remember seeing him conducting the Last Night of the Proms on TV a few years back. John

Hi All Brenda I survived my drenching with no ill effects. Which is good cause with our weird weather patterns at the moment it is easy to catch a cold. Sylvia I was wondering what Loempias were also then you explained it, they sound yummy. Kathleen Yes I think it must happen to all of us at some stage, it just doesn’t help when it is pouring with rain. Unfortunately we still are driving an older model car and you only have to push the knob down and shut the door to lock it, you don’t even have to hold the handle so yes it is very easy to shut yourself out. I might start just shutting the door then locking it with the key, which will solve my problem. As for our weather lately, as I mentioned it was pouring the other day, well we had two days of heavy rain which has resulted in floods everywhere especially in the North of the state where I live. For the month of August we have broken a few weather records, Highest recorded rainfall for the month of August with 184 mm, 94 mm of the total falling Tuesday and Wednesday. We also broke the highest recorded temp for August, and to top that of we had snowfalls recorded as low as Sea level, in places it had never snowed or had not snowed for more than 20 years. What do they say about if you don’t like our weather come back tomorrow, well that’s pretty right lol. I had a nice surprise when I went and got our Tattslotto yesterday, I had won a 4th division which gave me $35.00, I know it isn’t much, but when you don’t have a win for about a year it is nice to get. So I made a booking at a restaurant in our local Casino for Sunday night for tea, and I am going to surprise David as it is Fathers Day and shout him a lovely Buffet meal. We are going to my Dads for a midday meal so I wont need to eat on Monday lol. Fred we still miss you, hopefully the puta hasn’t had another hissy fit. Sylvia in W.A. I hope everything is going along well with you and Norm. Hi to everyone else I haven’t mentioned.

Hi all, Loempias are wraps (filo?) filled with chicken and vegetables. I think they are called Spring rolls in English but these are not rolls they are bigger. Went out this morning at 9.45 am and returned at 16.00 hours, then had dinner. Thought I had better change the beds today as I have another busy day tomorrow. Had just got the duvets off when my neighbour from the third floor came down. He is also interested in genealogy and I loan him my English books. What a lovely day again today it has been, although tonight we had a drop of rain. Tomorrow is market day, then at 12.00 noon my hairdresser is coming and Linda coming for a weekly clean. I'll be glad when it is Saturday as I have no commitments - well as yet! Of course I'll have to bake some bread, but that is so done! I do have a pile of ironing as it is almost a week since I have done any washing or ironing. I did set the washing machine on this morning before I went out. We had a call from DFDSseaways today and the date we wanted to go to Gt Britain was not available (I think the caravan was not available on this date) so they are looking for a further date for us. Hope she phones us back tomorrow. Now see you all tomorrow. Sorry for not mentioning names. Sylvia xxx

Kathleen Report 1 Sep 2005 03:52

Hello all, It has been so hot today that I really could not get anything much done. Too hot to go out working, did some washing and made a feeble attempt to get rid of some of the nettles which are growing rapidly everywhere. Got so hot and sticky that gave up on that. Sue, I have locked myself out of the car several times and it can be so frustrating when you realise the second the door closes. Can't do it with the car I have now - the drivers door has to be locked with the key - much more sensible idea!! Brenda, just after I got this car I got very irate when I couldn't get the key to work in the door - until a lady called out of her window to tell me - it was her car and she thought mine was the one parked a little further along the road!! Same colour blue - but I had only just changed mine from the red Metro and hers was exactly the same as mine. Fortunately she saw the funny side. Sylvia what are louemians? (sorry can't remember how to spell it). What bad luck to break your tooth just after visiting the dentist - one visit is enough, not my favourite thing. June, we only have one computer, have to remind my son that I need to use it sometimes though of course I have it to myself when he is at work - and when my other son doesn't want to use it or my granddaughter isn't here reminding me that I did buy it for her. I do have to point out that it was meant to be for her homework and not for chatting to her friends. Must go back to bed before it's time to get up!! Have a good day everyone. God bless Love Kathleen

Hi all, What a poor show, where is everybody? Hi Fred, you have a new computer, well use it man! Johan and I went to the market today by taxi. I'm always a little bit anxious driving my scooter on to the lift which lifts me into the taxi, but on the other hand I don't want Johan doing it. I won't always have him to do it for me and I must be independent! I bought three nice tops for myself, two pink, one with glitters etc. long sleeves and the other plain with long sleeves and the third a cream-coloured flimsy top with African type of picture on the front. Really daring to wear, but what the heck I'm not old yet! I also bought 20 double-yoke eggs and some potatoes. This is the only place I can buy the potatoe which I like. I bought a new shower curtain. I washed our old one and it didn't come really clean so decided to buy a new one. Johan went to the library and there he stayed until I'd finished my shopping. I bought some loempias on the market and we sat in the library with a coffee and eat them. The sun was really hot, but tonight it has cooled down a lot, more's the pity. Now tomorrow we are going to friends for lunch. My daughter is coming here to the hairdresser but I don't think we will see her before we go. Have a nice evening and see you all tomorrow. Sylvia xxx

Hi all, Well went to the dentist again today so that he could take an impression for my partial top and partial bottom dentures. I then arrived home and had a sandwich at lunchtime and duly broke one of my gold crowns. Phoned the dentist. Went back again and he pulled the rest of the tooth out. He had an awful job getting it out. I told him that it had been there a long time! My poor grandson arrived here just after I came home with a prop in my mouth, with a look of sympathy, felt sorry that he should come at such a time! Tomorrow Johan and I are going into town, me to scoot round the market and Johan will sit in the library. He doesn't like going round the shops and is still aching after walking around the shops in Belgium! We can get coffee in the library and I can find something nice to eat on the market for him and he is ok. Now see you all tomorrow. Sylvia xxx

Hi All Brenda yes I was lucky to have the family documented so well in the area they lived, I think because it is a small town and in the pioneer days there was about only 6 different family names, most of them migrating from England as ag labs around the same time, I also believe the name of the town Mole Creek, may have connections with a place in England that maybe named the same or very similar, not sure if it is a town or river. June yes the plovers, and Magpies can be a pain at times, but I suppose they are only protecting their territory, if only they could tell that I wasn’t going to climb over the barb wire fencing to get into where they were, that I was quite happy staying on my side of the fence lol. Well I had a bit of fun this morning I don’t think…… Firstly it is raining quite heavy here and I had to take a tyre to the servo to get a screw taken out of it and have the hole plugged, so I took Dannielle to school at the same time. When we arrive at the school Dannielle informed me that she had a form in the classroom that should have been back at school today, it was for a sausage sizzle on Friday. So I decided to make a mad dive to the classroom as I didn’t bring my coat or umbrella as I hadn’t planned on getting out of the car, Well you probably guessed it I got out of the car and shut the door, of course I pushed the lock button down and shut the door locking it, Dannielle had also done the same, then I realised that the keys were in the ignition. Well you could imagine what I said …. Under my breath of course lol. Well I then after going to the classroom to sign the form and leave the money for the sausage sizzle, I went and stood at the bus stop, that had basically no shelter til the bus came, so I could get home to get the spare set of keys then bus back to the car. I suppose the only lucky thing is I had the house keys, which are separate to the car keys, in my pocket. So after all that I went and had a nice hot shower to warm up and put a nice dry set of clothes on. Well now I have had my little moan for the day, I feel a lot better, lol. Catch you all next time.
