Well ,hello Di,lovely to hear from you ,i wondered when you would pop up again,so many old faces ,Jude and Madoc& fat cat to name a few. Anyone going traditional new years day, please try the ten minute christmas pudding ,it's every bit as good as a home made one from the old recipies, and a lot better than the shop bought ones. Well ,it may not have snowed christmas day ,but boy ,is it making up for lost time now.but Fred isn't bothered ,Liz and i have everything we need and don't want anything, and i even have my breadmaker so i have an excuse for trying it out.. I put the new bird feeder out yesterday ,but the birds are still using the old ones yet ,i suppose like last time ,they are not used to the new one yet and it will take a few days. I am sitting here with my first can of lager since christmas day,so i think i have done well.and if i do get snowed in tonight ,i have enough in stock to do me two weeks . I'm off for a look round the boards now ,but i will look in later on ,happy new year to all when it arrives lol.Fred.PffA&G&G&S. |

Hi everybody, Well it certainly seems like old times when I see messages from Di and Jude. Where have you been all these last months? How I have missed Di's stories, particularly of 'ratty', and also Jude's Beckham's antics. Don't leave it so long again girls, we do enjoy your company. I'm still feeling a little 'under the weather' so to speak. There seems to be some bug going around, so they say. I daren't go out on my scootmobile in this weather as it is slippery underfoot. We should have a thaw for the weekend though. I do need some shopping in for the New Year as I know I will have visitors and certainly need some drinks. Not that I fancy a drink. In fact haven't had one now for a week - most unlike me! Now that I have a lot of bits and bobs hanging up for the birds on the balcony, they seemed to have found a better address. Am I to be left with all these balls of seed and nuts I wonder! Now must cook some dinner. See you later. Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone. Sounds as though you all enjoyed the Christmas Fayre! Hope Santa visited you all - he treated me very well! I now have a new scanner, copier and printer! Had a lovely wax/painting of a crayfish from our 12 year old grandson. It really is attractive. He is quite artistic. It is so special when the Grandies make things for you rather than buy them. We have summer at last. Really hot the last few days. We are now preparing for New Years Day Dinner Party. We will be having a Turkey with all the trimmings. Will be 11 of us. We have had all BBQ's over Christmas with our Kiwi Friends and Relatives. My daughter and I still like to have an English Roast Turkey Dinner. Will be hot in the kitchen - keep out of my way everyone!!! We have had a lazy day today - apart from washing the outside of the windows. A full time job living so close to the sea. Must go now. Happy New Year to you all Mavis NZ |

Hi Brenda, Sylvia, Elisabeth, Jude and Fred and any other popper-inners, I'm back again. Registered in summer so I could occasionally catch up with your news, and was so tempted to join in at times, I finally decided to get back to a little more socialising on here when John decided to start building kayaks in the workshop in the New Year. I decided since he'll probably be there all day, I might as well spend a little time doing a little genealogy and visiting. Anyway, I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas and that Santa was good to you. Hope too that you're all in good health, also your families, and that you're enjoying the snow. Or hasn't it hit your area. We've had a warm Christmas here, apparently breaking many records, but so much rain and more forecast until next Tuesday at least. Still prefer it to snow though, as I prefer to stay on my feet! It's good to talk to you again. See you again soon. Love, Di in Tis Was.xxx Happy New Year, in case I don't make it back before. |

Hi everybody, Well woke up to find a wonderful wintry scene. Lots of snow. All happened during the night. I managed to eat my Xmas dinner yesterday, only dinner though. Today have been running a couple of washing machines. It's amazing where all the washing comes from. Good job not so much ironing. My help comes tomorrow so will get her to clean my oven - another job I hate doing. I've promised a couple of people to make cards for them, so must get down to that now. See you all tomorrow. Today ,I went to the sales not been to them at this time of year for ages,as I am not fond of being pushed and pulled about ,which has happend to me in the past .John got his golfing cart half price,I got a couple of birthday presents ,reduced and some clothes for work.So we had a good outing. Wanted to watch a dvd this after noon, but wasn't keen on it so started to read a book instead. John is doing tea and needs a bit of help by the sound of it ,so I had better go and see what he can nt find. Love Brenda |

Morning all, Well I am feeling a little better today so will attempt to cook the piece of turkey. Have managed some toast for breakfast. Fancy only eating bread on Xmas Day! It was nice to see my youngest daughter and her husband come and visit us as I feel we have not been on a good footing these last couple of years, but she has made up for it now. I never knew why we weren't on a good footing but as usual just kept quiet and behaved normally and all has come right. Our grandchildren bought us Xmas presents now that they are working members of the community. Now everybody enjoy the rest of the holiday. Sylvia xxx |

Merry Christmas everyone, fred has just snuck downstairs with his camera to make sure santa has been for the bairns, and wow,i am going to need an extra wheelie bin this weekend to take all the paper and cardboard. I will be getting wrong again when the boss gets up ,weeell, first up has it's priveliges lol,i have nicked a sausage roll out of the fridge, one of the things we never bake because everyone here seems to prefer greggs to anything else, i suppose i will be one short on the tea table ,but don't care,i wasn't about to have porridge for breakfast this morning. Have a great day everyone,i will be off to the daughters later so i thought i had better add this early on,looks like the parents are either knackered ,in bed recovering from the nights work,or too busy to be on here right now.lol.see you all later i hope.Fred.PtfA&G&G&S. p/s looks like my prickly little friend found his christmas treat outside ,cause it's all gone. |

Hi all for the last time till the big day,and hi to Jude and Madoc, who are always welcome.i have come on here now cause fred is in disgrace ,but it wasn't my fault ,honest. I was showing my grandson ,four years old how to make the stuffing, and he watched me mix all the ingredients in the bowl. At this point i realised that i had forgotten to buy the force meat ,and i decided to pull a pound of sausages out of the freezer, use four of them in the stuffing and cook the others for breakfast in the morning,So i took four of them ,put them in the mic for a minute and then proceeded to cut them down the side to take out the meat, explaining as i wen't what i was doing. It was at this point things started to go wrong,as i picked up the skin and started to tease the grandbairn with it,then i said ,i had better not do that or i will be getting wrong off nana won't i ? The bairn wen't into the front room ,and i heard ,WHAT DID HE SAY,and my missus came out full of hell.it transpires that the bairn wen't into the front room, and said, grandad said not to tell ,but he is playing with force skins again nana. She came storming into the kitchen and said ,what have you been saying to the bairn,so i told her i had been teasing the bairn with the sausage skins.which just goes to show ,you have to be very careful what you say in front of kids lol.i havn't had as much trouble since i got a clout off my mum at five years old when my sister opened an orange and found the flesh was red,and i told mum my sister had a bloody orange ,kids will hang you all the time.lol I am still gettting a few queer looks off the daughter ,so i am keeping a low profile at the minute. i hope everyone is now relaxed and chilled out,and girding their loins in anticipation of tomorrow, and i feel for the ones with young kids who no doubt be getting little or no sleep tonight hee hee,i aint laughing at you ,but with you ,,done it all before you young un's ,and now its your turn to lose the sleep. Have a good night all ,sleep well, you are going to need it.Fred.PtfA&G&G&S. |

Hi all, It's that girl again - yes me. Everybody is busy so thought I'd better keep the thread up to date. My hairdresser has just been, so have no more commitments. Will attempt again the large crossword puzzle in our Daily paper. Who knows, might win some money! Have a stressless wonderful day tomorrow and see you again soon. Sylvia xxx |

Hi everybody, Yes, it's me again. Went to the market this morning, but the weather was so cold and murky. Johan came with me, but think he regretted having said he would come with me. He did come by car and me on the scootmobile. Anyway, no more shopping to be done. I was disappointed in not being able to find any chestnuts, nor parsnips, so will just have to make do with sprouts. Now have a nice evening everyone. Sylvia xxx |

Hi all, Yes, I know it is late - here it is 11.45 but this is the first chance I've had to get on the computer today. This morning went to visit our granddaughter's workplace and took her out to lunch, seeing it was lunchtime when we got there. She wanted to pay for lunch, but we said no - she hasn't even had her first wages yet! Anyway, she thought it was nice of us to come round which made it more than worthwhile for us. There was a market and a Braderie going on which made it difficult to find a parking space, but we did. This afternoon did some more washing and ironing and this evening my daughter and her partner came round and it was late before they went. Tomorrow must get the last bits and pieces, like Fred said milk, creme fraiche, whipping cream. I seem to have everything else in the house, maybe some more fresh herbs and some lettuce. Saturday will be a day to relax. I've heard that my grandchildren are coming round on Xmas Day to see us. My daughter is working on Xmas Day so they are going to her on Boxing Day. Anyway, it is nice for their father to have them on Xmas Day for a change. Linda's boyfriend is staying with his mother on Xmas Day - his father is in America, and he feels as though he ought to stay home for his mother. Anyway he is seeing Linda on Boxing Day and they are going to my daughters for dinner. Now will close for now. See you tomorrow. Sylvia xxx |

Well, hello everyone, what a busy lot,and what a range of goodies for Christmas, ham ,on the bone, turkey ,roast beef,so who is going to come up with the trimmings such as stuffing balls with sausage meat and herbs,or sausage kilties,or little ,plain sausies for around the turkey or gammon? Liz can't make up her mind which she want's so iv'e told her if she leaves it much longer she is on her own ,cause i will be busy with other things like the home made stuffing and mince pies, done with flakey pastry[the pies that is]. Most of our shopping is done now and only the mundane things to get are left, milk ,bread ,marge and the like, 'cause anything forgotten Friday night is going to stay forgotten,i don't know about you lot but by then i reckon it's about time for the cooks to chill out while we can lol. Liz and i had some good news today that the grandson will be coming home christmas eve will be staying till tuesday ,when he has to go back to camp, but is still coming up for two weeks in the new year for two weeks before leaving for the gulf.so we will get to see him for a good while this time. All the presents are now under the tree so things are looking good ,for a change but i bet something happens to spoil the arrangements ,i can feel it lol. Sorry this is so short peeps, but like you ,chilling out or not there are things still need seeing too.and we havn't had tea yet, lowly fish and chips tonight. See you all later.and those off to other climes for christmas ,have fun ,and be safe, please ,no drinking and driving,i would like to see everyone back ,safe and sound after the holidays,Fred, and Liz.PtfA&G&G&S. |
