George, you mean that somebody walked off with it. The more I hear the more I don't believe my ears. Surely the thing to have done would be to hand it in, it can't be of any use to anyone else. I feel guilty because i picked up a small case of CDs in our culdesac. It obviously belongs to a young teenager and probably a girl. It is mauve with a bear on it and the CDs look as though they would be a young teenagers. I advertised it but nobody has claimed it. so what do I do now? The CDs are not in very good condition, scratched, dirty with finger prints etc but they belong to someone. i will probably end up giving it to my youngest grandson. Strange nobody has claimed it. Brenda, yet another victim of the 'throw away society' it does annoy me when you can't get replacement bits. OK I know you have probably had the curtains a while but why must they change everything? Lovely sunny day here in Glos but very cold, nice here in the warm though. Take care Ann Glos |

Good afternoon everyone,It is very cold again today ,but we do have a blue sky and a wintery sun which somehow doesn't make it seem so cold. Had to go and look for some curtain hooks for the track in the living room,we must have had them a while as I couldn't find any in three shops that were the same.So it looks like we need a new track,it is a bay window and John isn't looking forward to having to shape the track .Anne It has helped this year as well by not asking for ideas for people.I really gave myself a headache doing that last year.Anyway ,it is nearly finshed now. George ,what a shame about your disc, you would not beleive the number of people who leave discs in the library computers. We have a special box for when any are handed in. Jude is it today ,Madoc goes to the vet, good luck. I have been on to the pensions dept to see if I need to pay any more stamps to make sure I get a full pension. But to get a quote i need my divorce details ,so have to go searching in my paper file. Speak to you all tomorrow, take care ,Brenda |

Hello everyone. it was really cold out here today. a very cold wind. We haven't done anything exciting this weekend, popped into town for a look around yesterday and did a small food shop today. Spent the afternoon typing up the minutes from the meeting I went to on Thursday, then making a few more cards. Also had to tidy my office as somebody who helps the charity I am involved with, with their web site and newsletter is coming to show me the new nesletter format. I proof read it for the editor and need to be able to fill in if she is ever unable to do it. As i had all my card making stuff spread around i had to tidy it away. Hope you have a nice break away Sylvia and buy lots of goodies. June, the ceramics sound lovely, how about a piccy of them on the GC site when you have finished them? George, what are you like???? How did you manage to lose a disc? All that work you will now have to redo. Hope you manage to get it done anyway. Lovely to see your cousin's baby. You will see a difference in 3 weeks time. Brenda, busy as always, sounds a lot to do to buy all your Dad's presents but it must help just getting all the same, saves having to think too much. Di, Pleased to see you on here, I bet your 'cold' weather is colder than ours!!! have you fifished your needlework? that is all for today folks, off to bed very soon. Ann Glos |

Hi everybody, I just thought I'd pop in for a little while. I'm all packed for going away tomorrow. Will be going when we're ready. I hate waking up to an alarm clock, so we won't set one. It is only just over 3 hours drive to Calais. We've booked the hotel for two nights, and then, weather permitting, will be looking around Gent in Belgium on the way back, staying another 2 nights. I want to visit Sainsburys and Tescos in Calais, as well as French supermarkets Carrefour and Auchan. Must come up with ideas for Xmas. I have been buying the whole year small things, but really must get some ideas now. So nice to see that Fred is back. June, your ceramic work sounds so nice, sounds so professional. Nice to see you around still Di, keep the thread going whilst I'm away. Love, Sylvia xxx |

June,I was up early aswell but the heating wasn't on so it was cold in here .I went and made a drink and finshed a book I have been reading, Have just put a casserole in the oven for lateras I am going to my dads in a little while. One of the reasons The shopping is nearly done is that I have just bought the same thing for different groups,(This is dads shopping),all the younger grandchildren and great grandchildren have the same thing in diferent colours, the olderones male have the same thing in different sizes and designs ,and so do the girls.but the married ones will get something else that will be for the couple or the house. There are 14 grand children and 5 gt grandchildren,so it is a big problem,I and my brothers and sisiters have told dad he does not have to do this but he insisits because my mother did it. will be back tomorrow, take care everyone |

Hi everone, I'm up early this morning, its still dark outside, even Peter has commented how early I am up. lol Yesterday, I didn't do a lot, did a bit of painting on the ceramic Christmas tree, (this one has little snowmen peeping out between the branches) its nearly finished now so will be ready for wiring up for Christmas. I usually start getting my ceramic decorations out of the garage about this time so that if there is any condensation, it will be dried out by the time I switch them on. I am now on broadband, my grandson connected it yesterday, he has had broadband for 4 years now so I have bought one of the wireless and routers for my PC and laptop, I'm still finding my way round. I will now be able to cancel my Surf Unlimited, therby saving that expense each month. I am rather worried about him at the moment, there doesn't seem a lot of work around at present and he isn't eating or sleeping very well. My granddaughter often comes round on a Sunday afternoon, we enjoy watching the films together, at the moment it is Oliver Twist, in 3 parts. Christine, I soon get tired going round the shops especially if it is busy, but it is nice to be asked to go with them isn't it. I think children get bored at this time of the year, its the lull waiting for the new games/toys. Brenda, still busy as ever! You are doing well with yours and your father's Christmas shopping. I have now got to the stage where I want it all done. It gets me down not knowing what to get for everyone. Well I will go now and get dressed, maybe see you later. Love June xx |

Hi everyone, Just dropped in to say hello and happy to see you are all still as kind and thoughtful as ever. Sorry to hear about your daughter Kathleen. Hope everything will go alright for her. Christmas is fast approaching. I'm afraid I'm a bit like Di - don't really enjoy shopping. My daughter's clothes dryer went on the blink so guess what she's getting for Xmas! She went shopping with the girls yesterday - asked me if I wanted to go too - she already knew the answer. Nikita was dying for some roller shoes. Think she got them but was still saying she was bored when she came over to my house. There is the Santa Parade in town today - not sure if they are going. |

Have been copying some recipes from a book I have so the book will not get marks onit .but the pages are slippy and I have to stand and hold the book on top of the copier.still it is done now,I have mentioned I would like one of those book stands for recipes ,we shall see how observant they are. Want to watch casualty now ,so will see you all tomorrow.take care ,Brenda |

Hi everyone, Its a nice dry day here, no sun as yet but it is the end of November. Yesterday it dried my washing nicely thank goodness. In the afternoon we went to a local retail park and got a couple of Christmas presents, because now we have 3 more to get with reuniting with our relations, emails are still flitting backwards and forwards, all very exciting. Di, I too used to enjoy shopping, but now I can't stand it when people are pushing passed regardless of whether they knock you out of the way. I do get odd things on the net but it is nicer to see what you are getting. I haven't read Hayley's thread right through, I have been busy with other things, I coudn't quite make out whether it was tongue in cheek or what, but this last bit sounds as though there may be a spot of trouble, I hope not its not nice at the best of times, certainly not near Christmas. That Ratty is very cunning but I feel the end must be near, he is just getting over confident for his own good. I think everyone may be out doing their Christmas this morning, I am getting to the stage when I want everything decided and wrapped up, I get stressed when I have things on my mind. I will probably pop back later and see what you have all been up to By the way I am now on broadband but still waiting to be impressed, is it Genes or what? Love June xx |

Hi everyone Its dry here but no sun as yet. I'm a little tired today, Beckham wasn't very well during the night, his poor little tum was making weird noises and he kept wanting to go out. He seems alright now though, (he's had another sleep but I haven't) Kathleen I'm pleased to hear your daughter is keeping positive and she's bound to have times when she is down. My next door neighbour has a similar condition and is up to the radiotherapy stage, she says it hasn't been as bad as she expected. Glad Elisabth is alright, I think we all feel the lack of sunshine. I have had a smile reading about the ballet shoes. Jude, Congratulations to your nephew especially as he hasn't been well. I wouldn't worry about the interview, Gaynor had a similar one and it was about what they could do, such as letting her go back on different hours etc.anything they could do to help. Gaynor is fine thanks, still having pain at the top of her back/neck but I think that is probably something she is going to have to live with. All because a silly man in the left lane decided to turn right! Ann (Glos)I'm glad Elisabeth has been in touch with you too. I haven't sorted out the Christmas cards yet, I can do the lassooing and also the feathering but I am doing something wrong, I cant get the 2 together. Di, You are busy as usual, you are a genious taking things apart and making patterns from them. Sylvia, You have had a frustrating day, what with the shop being closed then the post box being partially blocked, sad times indeed when that is necessary. Brenda, I hope you slow down long enough to eat your lunch on Thursday. lol Anyway see you then. Love to all I haven't mentioned Love June xx |

Hi All, Just to say I have had an e mail from Elizabeth, she read on here that i had not heard from her. Don't know what happened as she had replied on 15th october. Strange things computers, they have these black holes which eat e mails etc. Anyway, she is fine but tired after chasing around for the keys to her son's new house (he went to America for Thanksgiving). Jude, will think of you wednesday then, hope the meeing goes well. Loved the story of your cat climbing over Madoc. last night i was chatting to William, Jen, Wendy and quite a few others (over there). There were a lot of people in the chat room. I also put 15 photos on the Genes photo site, including one of our cat Holly. Kathleen, hope all goes well with the exploratory and the op. I expect (from friends who have hd similar ops) that when she comes home after the op she will find her arm is stiff and painful to move at first. I am pleased that she is keeping positive. i hope she is also eating a healthy diet as I am sure that is half the battle. Everyone else, I have read your threads, sorry i haven't commented personally, must get on (housework supposedly!!!) Take care Ann Glos |

Hello, thank you all so much for your kind messages. My daughter is keeping very positive, though she has her down times as well. She has been in touch with the McMillan nurses who are there to answer any questions and offer support. At the moment she is trying to keep busy and carry on as usual. They have done a chest x-ray and blood test, next Tuesday she goes for a mammary-scan when they will put a wire in to pin point the area to be removed. Not sure I understand exactly what that entails but doesn't sound too bad. Admission to hospital on 14th December and the operation on 15th then, providing all is well and she is not suffering too much pain she will come home after a few days. Providing it has not spread anywhere else she will have radiotherapy after Christmas, hopefully she will not need chemo if it hasn't spread. Yesterday was so dreadfully dull and overcast and did nothing to help lighten my mood so I tried to keep busy but found myself doing the same things over again - I think I folded all the towels at least twice. Kept going upstairs, then having to come down to remember what I went up for - at this rate I should lose some of that spare tyre. Today was better, the sun shone for a while and it was generally much brighter. I had an e-mail from Elisabeth last week to wish me happy birthday. She is ok but not spending much time on her computer at the moment. It is that time of year, lack of sunshine, short days and long nights I think takes it's toll on all of us at times. Haven't done anything very interesting lately but enjoy reading about all your activities, you are all very busy. June what a lucky lady that you were the next one to use that cash machine, another person might not have been so honest or she might have been gone too far for them to catch up with her. I remember the bridge very well, I had a friend who lived on your side who had ballet lessons. When her shoes wore out I used to pinch them and try to practice what I had seen her doing (I used to go to watch her lessons). Of course, because the blocks were worn they caused my toes to get very sore and bleed. However, I was determined to keep on trying - until her mother saw the state of my toes!! She made me take the shoes and drop them from the bridge into the river so that I couldn't use them again. My mother went mad when she saw the state of my feet and realised why I had been making a point of always wearing my slippers instead of going barefoot in the house. Sylvia, you do have such lovely neighbours. Mine are very nice but I don't really see them that often and the ones who used to drop in for coffee have either moved or sadly passed on. Jude, I have not yet visited the site to see your drawing but will try to find my way there later. I hope Madoc gets his leg sorted out soon, I had to laugh at the thought of Fat Cat tip-toeing round him. Hope the interview about your job went well. Brenda, do you get a long break for Christmas? Not sure when our library is open around then. Sorry I haven't mentioned everyone but I hope you are all keeping well. Thank you all again for your support. God bless Love Kathleen |

Hello everyone, I have had a busy two days with the charity that I am involved with so haven't been on here much, managed to read but not write, except to kathleen. Haven't got a lot of time no either because I have just spent half an hour putting photos onto the GC site. Only just learnt how to do it although there are a couple of me on Daniels photo album. Jude, loved the drawing, I showed Tony and he was most impressed, it is so lifelike. have you gone back to work yet? June did you get the card sorted out OK? It sounds complicated. Di, you are busy, busy with your needlework, hope it turns out well. I don't think I could be bothered to unpick trousers to make a pattern - too lazy!!! still, if you enjoy needlework, which I am afraid i don't these days, would rather go into a shop and buy clothes. Kathleen, you are very much in my thoughts. Sylvia, Brenda, hope all is well with you. I E mailed Elizabeth but have not had a reply so hope she is OK. Crista, nice to see you on here, and Wendy popped in yesterday from hampshire. I had a long chat 'over there' last night - surprising who you 'meet' there too. Several like me running with the hare and hunting with the hounds (am I still allowed to say that?) I think that is me for tonight. Speak tomorrow, nite nite Ann Glos |

Wot no message from Di? I do hope she shows her face soon. It is a bad time of year for people who are inclined to suffer from depression. This is the only thread where she can join in, apart from the Canadian one, as the others won't interest her. I would love to be able to draw and paint, but this is not one of my abilities. Have tried. We have had a mist here all day and I hate it. I went out on my scooter today and it was icy cold. I went out to get some skeins of embroidery silk and found the shop closed for this morning - just my luckl They have blocked our letter boxes a bit so that if a letter is a bit thick you cannot get it through the slot. This means taking it to the Post Office. I think the reason must be so that you cannot put a bomb or suchlike in the letter box. What is the world coming to? I tried to post a handmade birthday card but it wouldn't go through the slot, so I had to go to the PO. I had a friend for tea this afternoon and whilst she was here 2 different neighbours descended on me. Life is never boring. Will close for now, love Sylvia xxx |

Hi again, I have just glanced back through the messages and realised I didn't tell you what happened when I visited the bank on Monday morning. There were a couple people in front of me at the "hole in the wall" when it was my turn I couldn't get my card to work, after a couple of tries, I realised there was a wad of money sticking out, there was no one around but I realised the lady that had been in front of me was just about to cross the road about 6/8 yards away. I shouted to her to come back, she was reluctant to come but did eventually, when she was about 3 yards away, she asked what I wanted so I said have you forgotten something. She kept thanking me and hugging me, (It was a substantial amount of money). Anyway that was my good deed for the day, funnily enough I think I was shaking more than she was. lol June xx |
