Me again. I had a job to find this thread as so many other threads were in front of it. Well finally the air bed has been pumped up. I think the other air bed had a leak in it. So probably not the pump at all! I went upstairs to see another neighbour this afternoon as she has pneumonia. She was going away tomorrow but has had to cancel her trip. She was walking round the flat in bare feet. She always does this she says, but I said not everybody has pneumonia. Anyway I asked if I could do anything to help, but her husband had done all the shopping and her husband can cook, so they'll be ok. I did my last shopping today, only needed milk and cream and a few fresh herbs, but it was nice to get out. There was a very strong wind blowing, but at least it was dry. Linda came today and vacuumed the flat and did the toilet and bathroom. She sent me an e-mail Xmas card, using my computer! I made some cheese and tomato bread and a 9-cereal brown loaf. If I get time tomorrow I'll make some more mince pies, but otherwise we'll make do with those I've already frozen in. My ex son in law and his new wife came this evening and brought me a lovely tub of narcis bulbs. Johan had a bottle of whisky. Don't know whether I'll have time to write tomorrow, maybe, otherwise have a good Xmas. Sylvia xxx |

Kathleen, I'm so happy to hear that Susan is doing well. You take care too, no more of this rushing to Tesco at midnight!! Sylvia, you are well organised as usual. just sip that sherry slowly, lol Di, Glad you had a good day out with your daughter, its nice to see you again. Brenda, Sorry the photos didn't get through, my email box isn't full, although I have tidied it a little, I can only think that the same thing that was affecting my updating messages has affected it. Please try again. Bill I wish I had your patience to draw like that, I hope you have a lovely Christmas. Jude, sorry to hear you had a nasty chicken, the mind boggles at what we have passed on to us. Hi everyone, We've still got rain here. Hoping it is sort itself out and the sun will be shining for Xmas Day. My son wants to give the girls their present today - a playstation singstar party game with 2 microphones and loads of songs - bit like kareoke (don't know how to spell it). He's going away for 3 months on Boxing Day so wants to enjoy the fun of seeing them use it now - so it looks like a full day of singing here today. Merry Xmas, Christine |

Poor Jude, you are not very lucky with chickens are you? We are not lucky with foot pumps, or electric pumps for that matter. My husband has spent most of the day trying to pump up an air bed for our son when he comes Xmas Eve. He took the electric pump back to the camping shop today. This is the second pump we've wasted our money on! He will try again tomorrow. Kathleen, glad to hear your daughter is doing ok. I loved the Xmas message from Bill in Oz. I wonder how long it took him to type it! Today I changed the beds and washed and ironed duvet covers etc. I cannot believe it, but I ironed another 4 of my husband's shirts! Only two of my blouses. I did one or two small jobs, but for the rest took it easy. Tomorrow I'll do my last shopping, not very much just some milk and cream and parsley and sellery. The rest I have already done. I was feeling a little sad today and did what I seldom do, had a little cry. I think I'm beginning to realise that I'll not have all the family here on Xmas Day, and then felt sorry for my husband trying to pump up the air bed. Didn't let him see that I was a bit weepy though!. See you tomorrow. Love, Sylvia xxx |

Just popping in briefly to say hello to everyone. Took Susan to the hospital at midday to get the first dressing removed. Everything is healing nicely just a little blistering because of the sticky stuff holding the dressing. Back on 31st to get the final dressing removed and to get the test results. Fingers crossed she will not need more surgery and that the cancer hasn't spread any further. Did a bit of shopping for her, she has to be careful in crowds because of getting knocked. I did a bit last night, found I had run out of tea at midnight so scraped the frost off the car and tootled off to Tesco. My car doesn't like frost - it screams (think it's the gas pedal), very embarrassing!! No more time now, in case I don't get back until after Christmas Very Happy Christmas to you all, thank you so much for your support and will catch up in the New Year. On the other hand I might be able to sneak on here at some point when nobody is looking!! By the way Brenda, my family never use just one towel when three will do - I spend so much time washing towels. Love to you all God bless Kathleen |

Ohhh Sylvia can't leave you all on your own:o)) l have been looking in, made a few replies to other threads then dash downstairs again before hubby realises l've even moved!!!! lol Ann - thank you for the email. Hope your evening is a good one. My sister and her hubby were here on Saturday for a chrissie meal and just before they arrived a relative from New York rang,(l knew she was going to-l kept it as surprise for my sister) one of the Meninsky's - her mother is a Meninsky by birth not marriage and a cousin is a Pace!!! l have just emailed Lynda Pace incase we are related!!! l think l have mentioned that l email relatives in NY, l've been in contact with this one for about a yr now, the other one has'nt got my new email addy!! he had so much info l could'nt keep up with him, but will contact him again in New Yr! The other thing that happened before my sister arrived was the bloomin chicken was OFF, this is the 3rd time this year. l had made up my mind not to buy any from this store again, but had no choice the other day. l checked it everyday(bought it Thursday, sell by date 22/12/04), fine, then at 4pm l took it out of the fridge and low and behold - phewwwww - as you can imagine l was not too happy so rang the store and asked them to bring another one out to me, well blimey l was about to put it in the oven!!!! Anyway the manager arrived with 2 rolled chicken breasts, as that was all they had, when cooked they were both smaller than the chicken and twice as expensive - very nice though. She next time l'm in the store to ask for her and she will give me a bouquet of flowers! Well hope everyone is well, its really chilly here especially in this storeroom - corrrr blimey!!! l have left the iron so ought to do something with it. Kathleen l do hope your daughter is ok - take care. Hope everyone else is ok : Gaynor,Fred,Ann,Anne, Sylvia,Di,June,Brenda,George,Christine.Mary,Lou,Elisabeth, Crista and anyone else l may have forgotten:o) Nite nite Jude sarf wales |

Hi all, As previously said I went out with Johan this morning to get our air bed pumped up, but the air at the pump was frozen. Just our luck. We decided to go into the Camping Shop to find a better pump. We bought a pump before but it is useless. Anyway we now have an electric pump, which works, albeit slow. Did some shopping. Came home, lovely warm house. Made some more bread and hung up some more washing - another 4 shirts of Johans. I think another man is putting shirts in my washbasket! My genealogy magazine arrived today, so am just dying to read it. When I've finished here I'll go and read it. No messages from Fred or Di, June, Jude. What have we done to you all - HELP, come back. Love, Sylvia xxx |

hi All Just read through the messages, on Gaynor's update for June she says she can read the messages so hurry back soon June. if you had a message about June's mailbox Brenda it could be that there are too many messages saved on there June which require deleting. Went shopping in town yesterday morning, it was a bit manic because of course the children are not at school, so didn't stay in there too long, didn't have much to get thank goodnes as the queues in the shops were horrendous. crowded on the bus too. today we walked round for the papers then took ourselves to the golf club for lunch. We normally eat in the evenings but have our neihbours coming in tonight for a drink and chat at 6.30 so decided we would be better off eating lunch time. We both had omelettes and chips and really enjoyed them, mine was cheese and tomato and Tony's was ham and onion. We have recieved most of the expected cards now, about 70 so the lounge is looking very festive. I had an e mail from our DiL this morning, apparently 8 year old Grandson is 'hyper' and OTT with everything and has been threatened that father christmas wont come if he doesn't calm down and 2 year old grandaughter loves the tree. And they are looking forward to seeing us on Thursday. daughter e mailed me to say she had to take her 17 year old cat Timmy to the vet on what turned out to be a one way trip this morning, he has been going down hill and didn't look at all well over the weekend when we saw him. Apparently he had complete kidney failure. i was pleased I had seen him and given him a cuddle at the weekend. Tomorrow i shall be packing and getting everything together for the trip to M keynes so not sure if I will get on here, although i might have time to read if not post. As the children don't like loud noises I haven't bought crackers but have made a snowman to put on the table, he contains a small present for everyone. I have actually been working on my genealogy, I have got around to typing up my Grandfather's history, i like to put it all into a narrative, besides giving a good picture of the person it also highlights anything I may have missed as I have to read all documents and censuses etc thoroughly to weed out information. anyway, in case i don't get on here tomorrow I hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas. I haven't mentioned everyone personally but Kathleen, you and your daughter are still in my thoughts as is Fred, don't overdo things will you fred, let the others help you. Take care everyone Love Ann Glos |

I'll try again. I typed a long piece and my computer turned itself off. Oh, when will my new one come? Another day nearer to Xmas. Today I cleaned my oven, ready to make it dirty again at Xmas. I also iced and decorated my Xmas cake, tidied and dusted the sitting room. Cannot do much there with the Xmas tree and decorations etc. Good excuse! I also did two washing machines of washing - or at least the machine did. My neighbour/friend came down and we had tea and a natter. I thought I was going out on my own tomorrow but Johan wants me to go with him to the garage to help him pump up one of our air beds. The pumps we have at home are not good enough. He says he needs my help holding something. So I said I'd combine this with popping in to a supermarket and getting some extra potatoes in. Poor June, what an experience you've had with that poor wee dog. Anyway, glad you picked him/her up and not left him like others had. Kathleen, so glad Susan is doing well. How nice she lives close by. Where's Fred, Brenda, Jude, Di, all snowed under with Xmas shopping. I heard our weather forecast tonight, and they think we may have snow on Xmas Day - whooppeee. So long as I don't have to go out in it. Well will close now, love, Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, Hi Gaynor, I know exactly how June feels. We had a very old cat. My son now 24 got her when he was 5. One day earlier this year I was backing out of my garage and ran her over. You can imagine how upset I was. Here was Tiger who had lived to a grand old age and I had run her over. I didn't know what to do I was so upset and noone else was home. I put her in the car and went to a couple of different vets and they were both closed. I rang my daughter who was at football - I was crying my eyes out. She asked me if I wanted her to come home. I said yes so she came home with the grandkids and we said our last goodbyes and buried her in the garden. Kathleen, Sounds like your daughter is coping very well with lots of love and support from you. Merry Xmas to everyone. Christine |

Nanna Gaynor (June nr Preston's Daughter) | Report | 20 Dec 2004 15:58 |
I just wanted to put a thread on the board because I know that many of you are friends of my Mum, June Nr Preston. On Friday 17th December after picking my son, Nick up from work, they experienced a terrible shock, whilst in heavy tea-time traffic, a car pulled out in front of them and as it sped away, they realised that a little dog was lying in front of them on the road in the midst of all the traffic obviously terribly injured. Mum and Nick, my son, both jumped out of the car, stopped the traffic and Nick very slowly and carefully moved the little dog onto a travelling rug which Mum had in the car and they carried it to the vets about a hundred yards down the road. The vet took the dog in immediately but unfortunately there was nothing they could do and the poor little soul died in my son's arms. Both Mum and Nick were devastated, they did not know who the little dog belonged to but it deeply affected them and they have both been very upset over the weekend. The vet informed the owners and my son has since been to see the little dog, "Bud"s, owners to assure them that they did everything they could. They were pleased to see Nick as they hadn't known how little Bud had died. There is more unpleasantness which surrounds these events for the people concerned but I don't wish to disclose this online but Mum's friend's will know what has gone on. Mum has been unable to use the boards for a few days due to computer problems which she has emailed Genes and hopefully she will be back with us all soon. I have also posted this message on the main board, but I just wanted to let you know that Mum hasn't disappeared but has been having a few technical and personal problems lately. Gaynor :-) x |
