Hello everyone, very cold but the sun has been shining today. On Monday we had sleet, a very wet snow then it all stopped and brightened up again. A lazy wind, goes through you not round you!! So sorry to read on here about Sylvia Whalleys' husband, what a dreadful worry for her. I will try to find the thread and add a message for her. Pleased you have found some relief from your coughing June, we all tend to avoid going to the doctor when doing so would probably save us suffering so much. Sylvia also you should go to the doctor, you are having such cold weather and are out and about such a lot. I do hope your pains ease soon. I took Susan to the hospital this afternoon, she is again second on the list and should go to theatre around 10 am but that was what they said last time and she didn't go down until late in the afternoon. She was not feeling too well and was very nervous. Unfortunately, though everyone has told her all the positive stories of people who have made good recoveries at the moment she seems only to be able to think of her friend who died - it was just over a year ago. Elisabeth & Di, thank you so much for your e-mails. I will let you all know tomorrow after I have spoken to the hospital. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers. God bless you all Love Kathleen |

Hello everyone - this really is a quickie - really!!!! Firstly, so sorry to hear about Sylvia Whalley's husband, l do hope he is ok. What an awful worry for Sylvia and her family. We were all saying happy birthday to him a few weeks ago. B.i.l is journeying home tomorrow, (thats a good word -"journeying", spose it is a word??). He's had such a great time. His partner rang just now and can't wait for Oct/Nov when they will both be back. Very cold again today - snow still on the hills and on Sugar Loaf Mountain, we saw it this afternoon on our way to Raglan for a meal:o)))) Mad dog Madoc is fine, although somehow he managed to burn himself, well thats what it looks like, its on the inside of his thigh, red and sore and possibly a blister has popped. l wash it in weak salt water and he licks it off't!!!! My son is still here, he plays hide and seek with him as well - so one minute its me hiding the next its the son:o))) Ok off't now - l was reading Sylvia Van Hoosens messages and she was saying where is everyone, so l thought l had better make an appearance. We leave here 6.30 tomorrow morning, for the airport, gawd that means l have to be up about 5am. Oh yeh - l bought one of those birds nest thingies today that you hang up, its made of what feels like christmas tree, very prickly!! Nite nite:o) Jude sarf wales xx |

Hi all, Yes, June, I'm a bit like you, I wander around in my dressing gown these cold mornings, not wishing to get dressed. This morning was one of those mornings. When I eventually got myself together I made a large pan of goulash which I can freeze in. Today we had our last pan of pea soup which I'd frozen in last December. I'll have to make some more this weekend as this is just the weather for it. We had a fall of snow during the night, but during the day it has been dark but no rain or snow. The weather forecast is more snow for tomorrow. I hope it won't be too bad for us to go out. Hate staying in so much. My cupboard is looking like "Mrs Hubbards", although I'm sure we could survive another few weeks if I tried! Is Norman Sylvia Whalley's husband June? Apparently this is the time of year for suicides, if you're that way inclined, rather sad, isn't it? Where is everybody who used to help keep this thread going? Come on guys and dolls, help us out. See you tomorrow. Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, Drat, I've just lost all the message I had typed. The weather here is dry, no snow, no rain no wind, no sun, its just No NO. I have had the best night's sleep I have had for weeks, I went to the doctors yesterday and she gave me some antibiotice and the cough has nearly gone so hopefully the old muscles will get better now. I must aplogise for being an old misery but I was totally exhausted with coughing. Ann from Glos, Thanks for explaining what Tiddy Oggies are, I like Cornish Pasties. I hope you enjoy your weekend, just the thing for this time of year, you must tell us all about it when you get back. Elisabeth, I think we have all hibernated at the moment, roll on spring! When you have time, you must tell us about Elston Towers. Sylvia, I hope the weather will allow you to go to your other birthday, it sounds as though you are having worse weather than us. I understand how you hate going to the doctors, I usually puit it off hoping things will sort themselves out. I hope Kathleen and Susan are alright, isn't it today that Susan goes back to the hospital? I do hope it all goes well. Well I suppose I had better get dressed now, I have been very lazy this morning. See you tomorrow. Love June xx |

Hello all, Well my day started off bad as I had to get up with the alarm clock. I had just moved myself and drinking a cup of tea when the telephone went to say that our appointment with the diabetes person was cancelled as he was ill. So I was up early for nothing. Well, we had a birthday to go to, but decided to go this afternoon as we had a fall of snow and it looked a bit slippery out. It was quite nice weather this afternoon when we set out but on the way it pelted hail down, but then the sun came out again. Very changeable weather, and very cold. Some places here have 8 degrees of frost. I have a lot of pain now and cannot understand why, so think I'll have to contact my doctor again. Oh how I hate going to the doctor. I'll probably put it off until next week, that's me! We are not going to Rotterdam tomorrow as my brother in law celebrated his birthday with the family on Sunday, so we said we'll go another day when the weather is better. We still have another birthday to go to on Wednesday, but if the weather is bad will give it a miss. Fred, what a busy bee you are. Moving toilets at your age! Nice to see Di back again, a much happier Di, lovely to "see" her so. June, Ann, Brenda, never lost for words. Felt a little homesick when I heard you talking about the Cotswolds. Must be my age! Until tomorrow, Sylvia xxx |

Evening all, Just a quick visit. Everyone seems very busy, but I don't seem to have achieved very much today. It has been so cold I haven't moved around too much. I didn't bother to go into the town for my shopping, just a quick trip to Waitrose for the essentials. Ann - I see you are coming very close to me for the weekend! If you want to see some of the history of the Spa you are visiting - do a google for "Elston Towers" and look at the folly item. It is quite interesting to see some of the old pictures and history. Some day I will tell you what its 'incarnation' was between being a grand country house and its transformation into the Coeur de Lion restaurant and then the Spa. You will not believe it. Have a wonderful time anyway. Love to everyone else - back to catching up on the emails. Love Elisabeth |

Hi everyone, Managed to fight my way onto this thread - it does take an age now it is so long. Pleased to see quite a few posts since my last one. yes, it was very cold here this morning although not as frosty as yesterday. no snow here but we can see it up on the Cotswolds ay Leckhampton Hill. Typical, I have not had a cold for a year and now I have all the signs, sore throat etc and I am going away for the weekend with my daughter in law on friday. i don't need a cold!!! Going to a spa for the day friday, i am sure they will welcome me with open arms with cold germs, but we have paid in advance for it. Edenhall near Newark is where we are going. June Tiddy Oggies is the name for Cornish pasties in Devon and Cornwall. Di, send some over here plese!! The boards have got a bit mundane lately haven't they, i pop in and out and answer a few threads, but i don't think they have been too controversial latey though. It looks as if the bristol meet may be quite popular, although people do have a tendancy to drop out at the last minute - get cold feet or whatever, I hope to go anyway and have been trying to persuade Jude to go too. Went into town this morning for a few bits and pieces from Boots but didn't stay long as it was too cold. No more for now, speak soon everyone Ann Glos |

Hi everyone, Its very cold here but sunny, we had a slight frost this morning. Yesterday my daughter and husband popped in and they asked me to go back for my dinner, so it was 8.30 by the time I got home. I felt so exhausted with my cold I didn't come on the PC at all. When I did go to bed I couldn't get to sleep for coughing, Sylvia, Dont take any notice of the nasty people, they must have very sad lives if they get their kicks out of upsetting others. I was saying to my daughter, everyone had white cars, it didn't matter, big or small, old or new, they were all white. No discrimination there! Di, (member of the tattered tongue group, lol) Yes I thought that thread was very good, just shows how many people hold back. What are Tiddy Oggies? Brenda, I'm not really with it when it comes to computers, I'm alright with the things I do every day. Kathleen, I will be thinking of you and Susan tomorrow. I have an appointment at the doctors in 30 minutes, he said I had to go back in 3 weeks which was last Friday but I was at the airport then, so couldn't make it. so today I'll try to get something for my chest, I cant keep losing sleep like this. Anyway I will see you tomorrow. Take care everyone. Love June xx |

Sorry iv'e been a bit remiss for a few days peeps ,but i'm just about finished with the bathroom now,and will have a couple of days off before i start moving the toilet further along the landing. The idea is to put the toilet in a little room on it's own and shift the washbasin a bit further away from the bath,a lot more hygenic i think. I was going to go out today and get the new shower screen ,but the missis say's it's too cold and leave it till tomorrow.Msn seems to be sorting itself out again ,and after the last few days ,it needs to,i am now using y*ahoo for most of my browsing because it's less troubleLiz dos'nt have a clue as to what to do for the tea so i will just stick my hand in the freezer and pull something out,if it turns out to be an ice pack ,so be it.lol. I see Indonesia has had yet another quake ,something is going on down inside the mantle ,i only hope those poor people ar'nt going to be put through the wringer again. well ,it' time to stick my hand in the ice box so i'm off for a couple of hours.cyl.Fred.ptfg. |

Hi everybody, Where is everybody on this cold, wet and windy day? This morning all the cars were white with frost, but now just wet, which is just as well as we have to go off early tomorrow morning and would have had to scrape the windows, or at least Johan would have to! I haven't done very much today, just sat and made more cards, what a lovely feeling! We advertised our flat screen monitor for sale and had several bids, but are waiting for now. It is still packed up in the box it came in. You see we already had a flat screen and don't want 2! I was reading through the threads before coming on here and couldn't find much which I cared to add to. The last time I put something on I was shouted at so deleted my thread quickly to stop a riot. I cannot believe people are so mean as not to listen to another's thoughts/views without being nasty. Oh well, it takes all sorts I suppose. June, Brenda and me are the only ones on here today. Oh, perhaps it is because it is Sunday and they are having a rest. Please come back on Monday then, we miss you lot. Love, Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, Well everyone has got white cars today, there has been a heavy frost but not on the ground. Now we have lovely sunshine and blue skies. Sylvia, I usually come on here first thing because once I start doing jobs, I get sidetracked and dont always remember I haven't been on. Its a bit of a ritual each morning, first, as I am passing I switch the computer on, then the kettle and take my tablets. By this time the kettled has boiled so I make my coffee, give Beckham his treats, playing with him as I give them to him, Then I take my coffee over to the computer, if its a week day, I check my Bank Statement and pay any bills I have to.then I go to Genes, check first if anyone has put the birthday messages on that I am going to put on. The Birthdays are on Word so I bring that screen up and enter the relevant birthdays. Then I read some of the threads and put a message on here. Afterwards I go to Webshots and look if I have any messages and go to MSN to look for emails. Of course if I have to go out early all this gets put back, til later. I hope your diabetes checks are ok and that you dont have to inject. Brenda, I'm glad your leg is improving you are so energetic putting the washing on at that hour, i'm afraid I dont do much at that time nowadays. To see what others have written, I start my thread off, then Click on the "back" button to read, then click the forward button and add more to my message (after making sure I am at the end of the message) I keep doing this as I go along. I hope your friend joins us, the more the merrier I say. I take it everyone else is having a lie in being as it is Sunday. Kathleen, thinking of you. So Elisabeth, Lou Ann,Glos, Anne Belfast, Di, and Fred and all, I hope you are all alright. I'm off for my toast now. Love June xx |

Not sure if I should say good evening or good morning!!lokking at the time, was on my way here at 10.30 then decided to put some washing on and get it in the dryer overnight ,so watched a film while it washed. The film was along one on Hallmark but it was good. Anyway here I am now,my leg is a lot better ,it is just a bit stiff first thing in the morning, but the ache is not there much. Good to see you all leaving such nice newsy messages, our weather has been cold, and it was very quiete in the library this afternoon. About 4 o'clock it got busy with people borrowing DVDs and Videos,I assumed there wasn't much on the TV tonight.!!!! My friend has bought a computer today but i don't know when she gets it ,I am urging her to join GR and join us on here. Sorry i have not replied to anyone specific tonight but have not made any notes on what has been said ,which is what I have to do to remember who said what. Take care ,speak to you to tomorrow. brenda |

Hello, yes it's me again. You would think I had nothing better to do, wouldn't you. Far from it, but the pc is very tempting, isn't it? Well, I tidied up the house a little today. Actually when the piles of washing and ironing had been dealt with it looked tidier. I then got down to some more card making before anybody else gets disappointed. My husband and I are making a graph today for our diabetes specialist on Monday. We have to be at the doctors at 9.15 - ugh, another early morning! My blood sugar is far too high at the moment, so I don't know what they will do now. Maybe another tablet. I hope I don't have to start with injections. My husband has to do this and it's such a ritual. Well must enjoy the weekend and forget those trivialities. Ann, I don't know about Rank Xerox being in Eindhoven, but Eindhoven is what we call the "Philips" town. Philips have many factories and offices in Eindhoven. They call it the "light" town. So Fred, so glad you've not been chased away. You are amongst friends, and don't forget that. What are you having for dinner tomorrow? June, you are always the backbone of this thread, you seem to be able to write every day, and not to forget how you remember people's birthdays. I wonder where Di is? Which reminds me I must send her an e-mail. So everybody, that's my bit for tonight, back to card making for a couple of hours or so. Love, Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, Well the weather has been sunny and dry here today, we had a ground frost this morning but my birdbath wasn't frozen the blackbirds had their daily bath and splashed the water all over. This afternoon I have been to Gaynor's with my niece and her daughter, then we went down into the town where there are a couple of unusual shops, we all ended up buying something. I bought a new tablelamp. Elisabeth, I always have the TV on while I am on the PC, that way I can keep up to date with things and leave my PC if there is something I want to watch. Sylvia, I know what you mean about worrying about your granddaughter, I get told I am fussing again, they just dont see danger at that age, I suppose I must have been the same and my parents must have worried about me. I hope you dont get too much snow for your trip to the birthday party. Ann,Glos, I haven't noticed the snowdrops out here yet, maybe they are out in more sheltered areas. You are right this site is so slow. Fred, You have room to talk, saying Sylvia is always rushing around, you are too, lol By the way, I'm glad you didn't leave us. Chris, you sound as though you are going to have a lovely time while you are over here, I haven't set a date yet for visiting Copenhagen, I dont think it will be too long though. Lou, I dont know how you fit it all in with working full time. I agree you have to some fun too. Brenda, I hope the leg is improving, keep taking the painkillers. Well I'm now going to watch TV for a while, so see you tomorrow. Love June xx |

Hi everyone, I haven't been on here for ages. I've been busily planing my trip to London and working out just what I'm going to fit in. I want to see where my three English grandparents were born and I'm also going to Denmark where my paternal grandfather was born. June, when are you going? I arrive in London on 17th February so I'm getting excited. My son is already there. He left on boxing day to work in London for a few months. He said I could come and stay for a while and he's coming with me to Denmark too. I'll stay an extra couple of days there as he will only have the weekend off. I'm very excited. Christine |
