Keep your chins up all of you and keep busy.God bless - sending hugs your way(((:o))) June - yes l'm sure you said a few days ago that you'd seen the tiles:o). Thanks for updating us on the little dog that got hurt - they're pretty tough are'nt. How is your Gaynor?? Madoc has been very good lately - he's walking much better, next thing stil to tackle is meeting other dogs off his lead and stopping when we say - ermmmm me thinks it will take a while yet,but we are getting there!!:o) Hope you sleep better tonight. My sleeping has got better, have the odd night when l'm restless, but usually get off.Hubbies the one - he's often awake about 4 or 5am and has to go downstairs. He has an allergy of some sort and sneezes sometimes allday, then his nostrils get really blocked and he can't breath properly(no smell or taste). He's waiting for letter re: having polyps removed - that will help with the breathing but not the smelling etc. Last time he had it done (approx 10 yrs ago) he haemouraged at home(spelling) l got him to hospital and he passed out waiting approx 2 hrs outside the dr's room - they forgot him!!!!!! he then spent a night in hospital!!! so as you can imagine he's abit apprehensive this time:o((( Fred - where are you, hope you are ok???? and Liz???? Brenda - you take it easy, rest awhile. Did you go to the doctors about your leg?? Had a nice message yesterday from Bill (OZ) re my leaving GC. He suggests l just let my subs run out, rather than cancel it, that way my threads will stay - apparently!!?? anyway l will do that. l don't want to go,but l must try and see if it does me any good, gives me a chance to do other things. Hubby is not bothered me being on here - probably likes being able to choose what to have on telly - lol lol Anne (Belfast) Christine,Lou,George(not a guy) and anyone else thats not been here for a while - hope your all ok. See you later Jude sarf wales x |

Hi everyone, This morning it was raining and very windy, now it is sunny and very windy. I didn't have a very good night, I kept dozing off and then the wind wakened me, so I switched on my laptop and talked to one of friends in America. Then finally got to sleep. Elisabeth, What a good idea getting mum in law some cheap glasses so that she can read, even if she can only read for a short time, it will help to while away the time. I too am sitting here waiting for Magi's reply as to how she came about to live in Istanbul. Sylvia, I keep asking myself where does the time go, I never seem to complete everything I set out to do. You have a mammoth task with all those socks to knit. I saw bluetits a week or two back but haven't see them this last few days. Mind the little house they always nest in, is well hidden by branches that really need cutting back but I will have to wait until I am sure they have gone. Kathleen, I'm sorry for Susan, she is having a hard time of it. I hope the chemo isn't as bad as they have told her. You take care Kathleen, it is very stressful for you too. Have a happy weekend everyone. Love June xx |

Kathleen, so sorry to hear that your daughter has to have chemo. How I thank my lucky stars that I only had radiation. I've been making lots of cards today as well as putting together things for going away on Monday. Also did a washing machine. Another - last - washing machine tomorrow. I do hope the weather will be better. At the moment there is a gale blowing and its pouring with rain. Where are you girls and Fred? Try and keep this thread going whilst I'm away. I'll try and add tomorrow. If you don't have time, then just a nudge will keep it to the fore. Thanks. Sylvia xxx |

Hello all, Congratulations on your win Elisabeth, I had to tax my car so I will be heard muttering and mumbling and using lots of naughty words about the terrible state of our roads. It always makes me angry to think that only 25% of what we pay actually goes on maintaining our roads. Good luck with the job hunting Jude, I hesitated about renewing my membership last year but did eventually after finding a connection and not being able to contact the other person. I am not sure if I will renew again though. Sylvia I hope you enjoy your few days away, maybe the weather will be better then. When you look across this way do wave - then we can wave back!! Brenda, hope you are feeling less tired now. Are you sleeping better these days? How is the leg? June, it has been raining here for days (and nights) but there are signs of spring. Bulbs are peeping through and the buds are beginning to show on the trees. My next door neighbour has a lot of early daffodils in flower, they have both early and late daffs so they flower for a long time. One of my sons has daffs and pansies in flower and his mini irises are growing really well, they will be in flower soon. Pleased the little doggy didn't suffer any real harm from being attached. Susan went to the hospital this morning, she has to have chemo first as the cancer had spread further than they thought. It will be every day for a week and she has to go to the Middlesex hospital for both that and the radiotherapy which will follow. She has been told it will make her feel very ill and she is not feeling good about it. When she goes back next week they will tell her when it will start. Sorry if I have missed anyone, I have read the messages but can't remember all of them now. I will come back tomorrow and maybe I will be able to take in more of what I am reading. God bless everyone Love Kathleen ps. This was on page 6 |

Hi all, It's me again, just been busy, with what I don't know. The days seem to fly past! Yesterday I had my granddaughter Linda for dinner, so of course that involved more work as I like to cook something special for her. Our weathermen don't seem to be able to forecast the correct weather. On Wednesday I went out shopping as I knew I wouldn't be going out today as Friday was supposed to be storms and rain. Well, what do you think, brilliant sunshine and dry. And they get paid for this information. I have noticed that the trees here are getting fuller, not yet leaves but obviously not far off. I saw a blue tit today, but he/she didn't attempt to go in the house we've put up for a blue tit family. Maybe I should put up in big letters TO LET. I have been putting together odds and ends to take away with us next week. I'm really looking forward to these few days. I'll be on the coast looking towards Britain. I haven't seen Fred on here lately, I wonder what he is up to. Hi there Fred, what are you cooking, or painting? I've almost finished knitting one pair of socks - 6 more pairs to go! I want to make some more cards as I have lots of ideas, just no time. I was watching Neighbours on television this afternoon and was falling asleep with a cup of tea in my hand. My husband came along and took the cup from my hand. I had rather a disturbed night. I had to get out of bed 4 times to the loo - diabetes! I'm very fortunate that I can get off to sleep again, but it's a broken sleep. I hope nobody else leaves us. Well will close for now, have a nice evening. Love, Sylvia xxx |

Hi All, Jude, I know what you mean. My membership is due for renewal in three weeks or so and I keep wondering if I should give it a break for a while. I may not post often, but do look in most days. (You cannot get away though, I have you in my address book.) I have found the friendship of all you cyberspace people such a comfort during what was a very difficult year, so wouldn't like to lose contact completely, and I may well renew. Well.... I did have my premium bond win! Have to say, that was from some I bought last year, but the few pounds worth I have had from being small, when Grandad bought us all £1 worth for Christmas over a few years in the 1950s have never won anything. I've now forgotten everything said by the usual crowd, but I think there was someone new too - welcome! Off on the afternoon rounds and to pick up a prescription for Mum. Since the surgery doesn't open on Saturdays, I have to get organised. She is worried about her eye drops running out over the weekend, but is doing very well and is able to read with the help of some very cheap reading glasses from the supermarket! Have a happy weekend. Elisabeth xx Sorry Magi, I didn't remember your name. How exotic to live in Istanbul! I've never been to Turkey. How did you end up living over there? |

Jude, I will be sorry to see you go but I know what you mean about it being time consuming, I find I have to be strict with myself. I have just popped back to let you know that I have just driven past the lady and her Yorkie Sally (the one that got attacked by that Jack Russel type dog) and the little Yorkie looks fine. See you all tomorrow. Love June xx |

Hi everyone, Another lovely sunny day, as Spring really arrived or are we in for a nasty surprise, after all we are not yet half way through February. I haven't got a lot planned for today, just general tidying up and a trip to the bank, then my taxi is needed at 5. Jude, I cant remember if I told you that I have looked at your photos of your tiles, I agree with you, they are lovely and so unusual. Ann (Glos). Thanks for taking the time to join us. Yes I was pleased at the number of people that popped in, it was nice to see 'old' faces again and some new ones too, some that were there for the first time. That is what inspired me to put up the dates of meet ups. I hope the next one on Saturday the 19th February is as popular. I agree they are time consuming. Brenda, By the time you go away, you will have deserved it. I hope you do sit and take 5 occasionally. Where is Sylvia, I hope she is alright, maybe her computer is 'playing' up again. Di if you are looking in I hope you are alright. Elisabeth, I expect you are 'rushing' around still, just take 5 for yourself too. I'll be off now, must tidy up. Love June xx |

Evening all,Well done Elizabeth,I have had some bonds since I started work 40 years ago and have never won a bean. david has had some since he was a baby and likewise he hasn't won either. My dad has won a few £100, but over a long number of years.Anyway you can drive on the roads knowing it isn't costing you much this year.!!! June,I was so tired last night as I was up early yesterday to get ready to go with dad. I needed to be at his house at 8am and to do that I had to be up and in the shower before David so he would not be late for work,he normally starts at 8am. Jude ,good luck with the job application, everything crossable ,will be. Ann nice to see you, never worry about not leaving messages ,it is really up to you on wether you just read or say something. Have a couple of emails to do ,see you saturday as I am working all day tomorrow and going to see a friend in an am dram panto in the evening, Take care Brenda |

It looks as if everyone has had a busy day, with no postings on the thread. I had a couple of nice letters in the post today. I had won the Premium Bonds not once, but twice. Ok, not a fortune but £50 and £100 will come in very handy, thank you! Such a pity that the renewal of the car tax came in the same post delivery - that will use all my winnings up. It started as a very wet day but this afternoon has been bright and breezy, though a little chilly. Hope everyone else is ok. Elisabeth xx |

Hi everyone, I went to the doctors for the results of my tests came back with 3 more lots of pills, you really will hear me rattling along soon. Then I took my granddaughter for an interview, I really am glad I am not having to find a job these days, there are so many people after so few jobs. I let the 2 retrievers out and gave them both a cuddle, Ben is walking much better on his leg now. Then I sat down and promptly fell asleep for 2 hours at least. Elizabeth, I really envy you being able to go the churchyard and take photos, although I'm not sure whether they would be there or not, they seemed to roam around all the time, at least they were keen to work. I too am sorry that Di has left us but we must respect her wishes. when this site is no longer fun then that is the only thing to do, Elisabeth, how about a photo of the new hairdo? Sylvia, I have watched the match and think that was the right score, these friendly matches give younger oplayers a taste of international football. I was pleased to see the managers having a chat and so friendly after the game. Everyone must have been very busy today, I keep getting a message coming on the screen from messenger about an update, when it appears, it stops me typing to the screen and being as I watch the keys when I type I find I have been typing and getting nowhere, its most annoying. I am off now and will see you all tomorrow. Love June xx |

Hi all, Glad to hear that Elisabeth has had her hair cut. We can't have witches on this site, can we? So Jude, you couldn't find everything on the cards site, pity, there are some beautiful cards there. Last night my granddaughter sent me an e-mail to say she couldn't come today but would come on Thursday and could she eat here. Of course, welcome. I saw a good offer for some salmon in our supermarket - deepfreeze - but when I got there they'd sold out so went to another supermarket of the same name and they'd sold out too. I sent my neighbour to the fishmongers and paid the earth for some fresh salmon. I must get my freezer stocked again with some fish. Linda loves salmon. So tomorrow will cook salmon with pesto on, garlic potatoes, new carrots, lettuce, cucumber, followed by chocolate ice. I've not being doing anything to my own genealogy, as I've been helping others, but that will come soon. I made some more bread today and a ratatouille (don't know if that is the right word). I used steak mince. First fried an onion, then the mince, two red paprikas, 1 courgette and a box of mushrooms. I did this in a wok then added a stroganoff sauce. I had so much over that I'll have to freeze some in now. Yes, I too had an e-mail from Di. It's a pity all the good writers are leaving. Maybe she'll come back again one day. Who knows! Football tonight England v the Netherlands. I daren't go in the room and watch football or the fur will fly. No, not really, just joking. My husband isn't too interested in football, although if I'm watching a match and the Netherlands are losing notice he is on edge. Have a nice evening Sylvia xxx |

Morning All, I had a quick visit to a churchyard yesterday and took some photos of a memorial. It includes the names and dates of many who are already in my tree, but it is nice to have the photos and confirmation of dates. There was one who I knew had been cremated in 1970s and I was surprised to find a little stone on the grave to him too. Its amazing to come across things you don't expect. Someone on the site, distantly connected to the tree, has given me so much help with census images etc for this line. People are so kind. I am sorry that Di has decided to leave us, but we will respect her decision. I have her mail address so will drop her a line or two sometimes, to keep in touch. I don't look too much like a white haired witch now - finally got around to getting my hair cut this morning. It is marvellous how half an hour at the hairdressers can make you feel so much brighter. I realise I didn't read any postings before I started, so I hope everyone is well, especially Kathleen and Susan. Catch you all soon. Elisabeth xx |
