Hi everyone, What a lovely sunny morning we have, but I have just been out to the bins and have found that it is very cold. This morning I couldn't sleep and got up at 6.30, I took all my tablets, looked on here and put on the one birthday message I had to do, then I had a blinding headache and didn't feel to good, so I took myself off to have a lie down for ten minutes and wakened up over 2 hours later. Anyway the headache has gone now thank goodness. Sylvia, I hope both you and Johan are feeling a bit better today, you have to get yourself fit and back on the alcohol for the party.lol. Its nice to hear that Di is well and amusing herself, I would like to hear from her again, the next time you speak to her, please give her my love. The white bread with sultanas and pieces of chocolate sounds very yummy! It was Jude making the soup that sounded very good too. Morning Fred, Glad to hear you are getting on with your gardening, I went to the Garden Centre yesterday, not for plants, but coudn't resist buying a few primulas to brighten the garden up a bit. I was going to plant them this morning but it is bitter cold out there, so I will wait and see what tomorrow is like, It looks like everyone else is having a lie in this morning. See you later. Love June xx

Good morning to Susie ,Kathleen,Sylvia Jude ,and everyone else including Madoc, yes peep's i am still here .I am sorry for my silence which is due to my grandson being home on leave, and being an avid computer buff i can't even get on to my puter grrrrrr..However ,he decided to go out late last night to do a bit of clubbing ,and has wrecked himself ,so while the cat's away--------- [sorry madoc, saw your ears go up there]. My birds are doing really well ,but i'm not suprised ,Liz spoiles them something rotten, and we have that many feeders in the garden now that i'm thinking of converting the greenhouse into a control tower ,before we have an accident on one of the runways he he. The missus is doing well with the garden too ,she takes her time ,and potters on putting in flowers and stuff ,while i do all the digging for her. The seedlings in the control tower are doing well with their new heater but i'm beggining to think my sugar plum tomatoes won't make it.The seed is three years old ,and i luckily halved what i had,so if this first batch are no good i will have to wait a few weeks and try again..I will be devastated if i have lost them,i have grown them for years ,keeping seed each season because they went off the market twenty years ago,and they are the tastiest cherry tomato i have ever tasted ,really firm ,extra sweet ,and juicy. I have booked two weeks holiday Jude,,and will be staying at a bungalow near Canaeffon airport,[DinasDinlle],my usual haunt ,so i will be looking for a mad dog ,pulling a woman along the beach, flying behind the dog like many poppins,so if it happens i will call out,[morning Jude as you go past].lol. Sorry folks ,i hear signs of IT,getting out of bed ,so i'm going to shut down for now ,hopfully IT will go out again in the near future, and i will get on again.ttfn.Fred.Ptfg.&a&g&s.

Hi all, Just thought I'd bag the computer whilst Johan is reading the newspaper. He always reads it from cover to cover, so it, being a Saturday edition, takes him at least two days to finish it - hoi hoi. Both Johan and I are both off alcohol at the moment, due to our being a little off colour. I cannot really say we are sick, but not quite right. I had a lovely e-mail from Di this morning and she tells me she has been doing a lot in the garden as they have an early Spring. She is also doing some designing of clothes on the computer and at the moment is enjoying herself. She sends greetings to all of you. It was snowing here this morning, a very fine snow which won't settle. The white sweet bread I made the other day with sultanas and pieces of chocolate was delicious. I have frozen slices of it in. We mustn't eat too much in a day. Now, who was it who was making soup? Cannot remember, but you will know who it is. Do you make your stock from bones or meat? I must get the recipe from a friend who made delicious courgette/blue cheese soup. I think I'll make some soup today but using a pot of ready made stock instead of soup meat or bones which I haven't any in the house. I only intended to nudge this thread up, but couldn't resist adding a few lines. Maybe will nudge it again later. Have a nice day. Are you ill Fred? Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone, Whay a mixture of weather we have had today. one minute it is raining and the next itis sunny. It is quite cold too. This morning I was up early to take my granddaughter to work then I came home and had some breakfast. I went back to the Garden Centre, when I went on Thursday with my friend, I bought some lovely artificial flowers that look real for my bedroom but I felt they needed a few more, so today I got a few more and now they look good. Of course I couldn't resist buying some flowers for the garden, I just bought a few primulas to brighten things up a bit. Gaynor and her husband have just been round, He has changed my tap on my shower, the old one had started dripping, then he changed the bulb in one of the outside lanterns. Actually I can manage the bulb but he doesn't like me climbing the ladders. I have brought My granddaughter home so now I can settle down for the evening. Brenda, I do envy you going to see Westlife, my granddaughter met them at the local radio station, that was a few years ago now. Sylvia, Glad to hear Johan is feeling a bit better. You do right to take things easy while it is so cold, spring will soon be here, then you can get out and about again. Kathleen, It has been a very worrying time for you, I think Susan is right in having a positive attitude and you have the new babies to look forward to. Just take it easy and look after yourself, as you say Spring cant be far away. Jude, You are a busy little bee, making your soup and freezing some then busy very artistic with you tile. I used to lie in bed staring at the curtains or wall paper and finding faces etc in the patterns, do you remember staring into a coal fire and seeing objects? Ann,Glos, I hope your cold improves before you fly, you will have to have some lozenges to suck. I hope you have a lovely time, surely spring will be here when you return. Yes Fred, Where are you? Its no good watching those seedlings, they wont grow while you are there, lol I still haven't seen the blue tits, the blackbirds have been again. I'll see you all tomorrow. Take care everyone. Love June xx

Hello All, sorry not been on here much lately, trying to catch up with all my correspondence before we go away Monday. thought I had better put a reminder that i am going to be away for 3 weeks in case you wonder where I am. Cough and catarrh is still getting me down, don't feel at all well with it today, probably because i did too much as we went into Cheltenham shopping this morning. Feel exhausted now - what a wimp!!! Hello everyone, Sorry no message yesterday, was feeling very fearful, tearful and dreadful. Susie had her scans but was not told anything, I imagine the results will go to her oncologist. Fortunately she is taking it as everything is ok - hope she is right. The snow has all gone but it is very dull and overcast with showers of rain and a slight breeze. Lots of buds showing on the trees and shrubs now - what's the saying 'if winters here can spring be far behind?' With daffodils, crocus, snowdrops etc all flowering and making some lovely splashes of colour it does have patches of brightness. The first of our babies is due in a couple of weeks, my step-g.daughter will be the first. Happily all three expectant Mums are keeping very well and blooming. Did some shopping for my daughter this morning, our local supermarket employs mostly youngsters at the weekends. They all looked so happy and cheerful this morning, not only that they were polite and helpful. It was such a nice feeling, made shopping much more pleasureable. Time to get on with some more work. Hope you all have a good day and no aches, pains or problems. God bless Love Kathleen

Hi everybody, What a job I had to find this thread, but so pleased I did find it back. There seem to be a lot of threads with the same subject, have you noticed? Actually threads I put on months ago are being reintroduced by different people. Glad to say Johan hasn't been sick any more. He has eaten lightly today, but won't touch any alcohol, so know he isn't 100% yet! I am going to make a pizza soon for dinner, but that will be light. I saw the blue tits again today, inspecting the bird house. Really a sign of Spring. I wasn't going to wash today but had some of Johan's things from yesterday and I cannot bear having dirty washing lying around. Still very cold here and that is the forecast for the whole of the week. I must venture out soon, although I cannot say my lungs sound too good. I've been making more cards today, so feel rather lazy. I telephoned the young girl who is celebrating her birthday today (her birthday is actually next Tuesday) and she sounded disappointed we weren't coming. Actually it is the daughter of Jan's (ex son in law) wife. I said as soon as we feel better we'll be round. Have a nice evening. Fred where are you?????????????????? Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone. Still no snow and its quite mild here. What a hectic day again, I had to and pick my granddaughter up and take her to work, Gaynor came as well because she had to have xrays (on her hips this time) at 9.30. Then we went to my house for a cuppa and for Gaynor to read and answer her emails. Then I had to go to the bank and we had word we could pick up Gaynor's computer, ( it had a few small viruses but the one that gave all the trouble was a Reboot virus, It evidently lies in wait, until you need to reboot. My granddaughter was very relieved that it wasn't her switching off the computer while a game was still running that caused the problem. Jude, Madoc must think he is the smartest dog in town, certainly the cleanest anyway. The birds aren't allowed to fly around with Beckham in the room, I think he would try to catch them. Kathleen, yes Gaynor has to have an operation on her back but she has to lose a lot of weight first, she has always been big busted, and she will have to be on her tummy with her back has flat as possible, when they operate. I'm glad Susan is feeling a bit perkier now, I keep thinking about her. Elisabeth, The elderly gentleman must have been feeling a bit lonely that day, I'm sure he was happier for meeting you. Enjoy your weekend with your son and fiance, is she living over here now or just visiting? Sylvia, I hope Johan is feeling better now, it was lucky you decided to stay home and call the surgery. The little blue tits haven't returned this year, I have bought some more nuts to try and tempt them. Well I will have to leave you now its time to go and pick my granddaughter up from work. Love June xx

Hi all, Well I stayed at home today and good job I'd planned to stay home because Johan is now ill. He said he felt sick. He wouldn't eat, so I 'phoned the surgery because I didn't know what to do about his injections of insulin. She told me to let me know how high his reading was, but when Johan went to use his machine he found the battery had leaked in it and he couldn't take a reading. Within 10 minutes the girl was here, together with a doctor, with her machine to take his measurements and it wasn't high, but we have to keep an eye on it. Now this afternoon about 10 minutes ago he has actually been sick. Let's hope he feels a bit better now. I have phoned her back with the news, as I think it's better I keep them informed, and especially as it's the weekend coming up. I have made a 9-cereal brown loaf of bread and also a sweet white loaf with sultanas and chocolate in it, and also a chocolate cake and ironed 6 of Johan's shirts. My neighbour Annemie came down and said she would do any ironing for me, but I said I have done it now. I am now making a lovely card for her granddaughter's first birthday. We were supposed to go to a little girl's 14th birthday tomorrow but this will have to be postponed. How saddening news it is about Gaynor, and how brave she is. How trivial our illnesses are when you hear what she is going through. The weather has been bright and sunny here today. The blue tits have been back to inspect the house again. One actually stayed a while in the house. I suppose they'll be furnishing it next. Have a nice evening. Cannot remember your names etc. when I come to write this message. One of the privileges of being a 'senior citizen' I suppose. I do appreciate all your messages though and love to hear all your news. Haven't heard from Fred for a while. He is probably busy with the garden. Sylvia xxx

Afternoon, Just popping in for a moment before I go on my afternoon rounds. I've done all the shopping ready for the visit of son and fiance for the weekend. I am still getting used to what she likes to eat. There is a very good article in the Family Tree Magazine this month about the local area. (Its all gypsies and vagabonds but I don't think I am related to them.) It is always nice to see something about your own surrounds, and mentioning people or families that you know or know of by reputation. The snow has all gone now, but it has been sleeting or raining most of the morning. I bumped into an elderly gentleman I know in the town, and he insisted of having a long chat. even though I was getting wet. Hope everyone has a happy weekend and that all the coughs, colds and general aches and pains soon ease. Special, gentle hug, to Susan via Kathleen. Elisabeth x

Kathleen Report 25 Feb 2005 01:15

Hello everyone, we have snow - and rain - and snow - and wind and more snow now. Cars, houses, grass all white but the roads are more wet though it is beginning to settle even there. Jude, so pleased you will be staying with us. Have got my candle lit for Gaynor. So sad, she is such a nice person, great sense of humour and I am happy that I did get to meet her last year. Salt on the icy pathways is a necessity, especially for older people. Broken bones take longer to heal and are a lot more painful than a few minutes spent washing dogs paws. How selfish and inconsiderate some people can be. Not long to go now before your party Sylvia, make sure you stay well so that you can really enjoy yourself. June how is Gaynor? Am I right in thinking that she has to have an operation sometime soon? Brenda, hope your upset tum has settled down now and also that your leg is improving. Not too much has happened here, just still clearing out some of those things I no longer use. Taking up tiles from the kitchen floor in preparation for new floor covering to be laid next week. They were the stick on type and getting rid of all that stickiness is taking time. The fitters will be coming on Tuesday morning so it all has to be properly prepared before then. Susan has her body scan etc, tomorrow, think she will be pleased to get that over. On Tuesday she has an ECG and on Friday the first chemo session. At the moment she is doing really well and in good spirits. Time for me to go to bed, Chris has just come in for his meal break, he is working tonight and tomorrow night - 7pm until 7am. He doesn't always come home for his break but didn't fancy sandwiches and hadn't got anything to microwave at work. Fortunately the cargo area of the airport is only 5 minutes down the road so it's easy to get home and back in the time. Goodnight, hope you all sleep well God bless Love Kathleen

Evening all:o) Still no snow, well nothing other than a dusting on the ground. Some of the cars had abit more than that this morning, but it soon melted. Madoc is being so good,l'm wondering what l've got to come!!! lol Fortunatelty hubby hozed him down before letting him indoors!!! He gets hozed most days, even if its only his feet - then l give him a good rub down with warm towels waiting on the radiators:o) Lunch time walk l picked some blossom - tiny white flowers and some of what ever it is called with brown wintery leaves.l had a bouquet of flowers from last week which had pink roses and purple flowers and abit of green foliage - l split the bouquet into three vases, with blossom etc it looks lovely. The pink roses and white blossom are on the lounge window ledge looking out onto the back garden for Gaynor!! Fat cat is speming most of his time on my bed curled up in an old white blanket,he usually finds a dip by the pillow and curls up - love it when his nose is turned up and his feet crossed, you can see the pink bits. Did l mention to you that a neighbour had left a bird table out the front for the dustman- well we did get it, hubby waited till it got dark, then the next day l put a card in their door to say we had it.Thing is if l had'nt they would see it and that would be embarrasing. It needs small repair on one of the tree legs and a good clean other wise its great. Its quite small so will do for the smaller birds:o)) June - hope the budgies are in their cage. l often think about getting another dog,it would be good fun for Madoc. l love Bull terriers and saw a beautie the other day - the owner said she had got her from a charity called Bullies in need, there is a web site (same name) so will take a look. Then yesterday we saw a puppy - oooooooohhhh he was gorgeous. Sylvia - l would'nt have thought the salt would do any harm to the dogs, might be sore if they had cuts on their paws, but then salt if healing. Not long now before your celebrations and your party:o)) Reference the B & B, good thinking:o) l have hair appointment tomorrow lunch time,in preperation for the interview!! Hope everyone is well, sorry if l have forgotten anyone. l renewed this morning, how on earth could l not have you lot to chat too - thanks for your encourage for me to stay:o) Nite nite Jude sarf wales xx

Hi everybody, Brrrh, brrh, brhh, yes, that's how cold it is. Snow, wind and ice. Apparently Sunday evening it is expected to freeze 7 degrees. My husband took me to my hairdresser and I had a perm - just three weeks away from our party, so has time to drop a bit. My hairdresser always comes to me for a blow dry, but a permanent I go to her. I don't like all the perm smells in my house. She is used to it. Some neighbours had a bit of a confrontation with another neighbour over using salt on the ice around the flats here. This young woman has a huge dog - don't know what type it is, must have been crossed with a horse by the look of it. She says we mustn't throw salt down as it gets into the paws of the dogs. We say then wash your dogs paws when you get home. She takes the dogs - she has another small one - over the main road and salt is thrown on that road by the council. This young woman isn't a very nice person and is always making trouble. We have a lot of older people here in this block of flats and sometimes on the gallery it can be very slippery. We cannot let old people fall because of her. Now, what else did I do today. Oh yes, I changed the beds, washed the bedding and even ironed it. Linda came around and did some extra odd jobs, such as cleaning on top of the cupboards in our bedroom and all places which I cannot reach. Nice feeling to know these jobs are getting done. I am not going out to the market tomorrow. Johan did some shopping for me today whilst I was having my hair done. How are you now ann? How are Beckham and Madoc enjoying the snow. Can you throw snowballs at them? I don't suppose Fat Cat will like the snow. Well, let's hope there will be more messages to read when next I look. Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone, I am late again,! We still haven't had snow thank goodness, I had to be out early to take Sam to work. Gaynor also came along because she had a doctors appointment, then we came back here for a cuppa. After that we went to Asda and then I dropped Gaynor back home as I was meeting a friend for lunch, My computer seemed very slow this morning so Gaynor left it defragging while we were out, now it has finished. Sylvia, I think you are very wise not going out on your scooter in this weather. Apart from the roads, I think you are likely to get cold when you have had your head warm under the driers and then to go out in the cold. Elizabeth, I vaguely remember the Band of Hope, I dont really know what it was but I remember hearing about it. I'm sorry I didn't see the article. Brenda, Hope to see you later. Love to all June xx
