Morning all, I have been waiting in for two parcels to be delivered, and thankfully, they both arrived before 10 am!! One is a load of plumbing equipment, tomorrow a sink arrives, for husband to go down to son's house and fit a new kitchen sink. The old one is dark green, sort of resin stuff, and looks horrid, so they are having a nice new one - compliments of Mum & Dad! The other parcel was FTM05, which is from PCWorld. It had been discussed on various threads, so I ordered one. Perhaps I will get a little organised with my tree now. It just might have to wait until later in the year as I must get on with jobs around the house and garden, before the invasion of the Americans in the autumn. The washing machine is nearly finished a load of bedding so I will wait in for that to end, so I can take advantage of the sunshine and breeze. (I did point out to future daughter-in-law, at the weekend, that they have a reel type washing line in the garden. She has never used a washing line before - everything is tumbledried at home! I did supply them with some pegs when they moved in.) They are flying off to Barcelona this morning until Sunday, so they just phoned from Heathrow. We will have a nice quiet time, just us! Have a happy day, enjoy the weather as it is supposed to rain again tomorrow. Elisabeth x |

Hi all, Yes, it's all over and I've survived. I have had an unforgettable few days. I have a wonderful CD Rom to prove that I was not indeed dreaming. The house this morning looked a remnant from WWII, but Johan sorted out the worst, and Linda is coming to vacuum shortly, so thought I'd come onto the pc. Johan's niece by marriage came yesterday - 92 years of age. Talks non stop and is as fit as a fiddle. Doesn't have to take any tablets. Every morning drinks a neat Vodka, not that she likes it, but does it for her health. It certainly works for her. No high blood pressure, nothing. She had a nasty experience last week though. Coming home from shopping a man met her in the foyer of the flats, walked home with her and said he'd come to change her credit card. He gave her an old one with another name on it and asked for her pincode. Why on earth did she give it - senior moment I suppose! Any by the time she'd phoned her daughter and they'd blocked the account he'd stolen 1,000 Euros from her bank. Her daughter is cross. Always told mum not to open the door to strangers, which she didn't, he just walked home with her. She now daren't go out alone. I have read all your threads, but please don't ask me to thank you individually, otherwise it would take too long. Jude, don't worry about all those nasty other people, we're not nasty - honest. My God, I know what it feels like being on the wrong side of the abuse and having my name splashed over the boards. I cannot understand how GR let that happen. Those people who were so nasty now reply to my threads and I pretend I don't remember what they did! Different threads which I used to put on and was immediately jumped upon, I now find others using exactly the same title and hey ho, no abuse, why? I'll never know. I never answered any of the abuse and kept silent, and that is the best you can do. I never wanted any slanging match. I had some wonderful e-mails telling me not to give up, and these certainly helped me carry on. I must get some photos on the internet so you can see some of them, but in the meantime, enjoy yourselves. We have fantastic weather here. Sylvia xxx |

hi all - l have a few minutes before a doctors appointment. It was sunny here, but its gone abit dull now, put the washing out anyway. my keyboard is still messing about - l can't always use the shift key for upper case, which means l can't get into my email cause l can't use the at, sometimes l can't use them all morning - grrrrrrrrr. Madoc is on the bed with vic - he's just having a heart attack having just seen the new council tax increase, its gone up by 26% (oooo l can use the upper thingies now!!). Testing - @@@@@@@ yehhhh. This morning his lord ship was bouncing all over the place telling vic to hurry up and take him out - l even took him in the garden, nope not good enough, our tea nearly got knocked out of our hands as well!! when he's in the garden his head goes up and he sniffs in the air taking in all the different smells, especially if anything has been in the garden during the night!!! he got out the other day, stupid window cleaner left the gate open - mind you my son & vic blamed me for not shutting him indoors. Anyway he had a real good run around. l had'nt even realised he'd got out till l saw a neighbour standing outside - he's only in his 30's but has major back probs, can hardly walk, so l realised there was a prob of some sort. Madoc found all sorts of food rubbish and eventually came to my shouts with tail between his legs. Hop to get a phone call this afternoon from my daughter - she's in hospital now having just had a hernia op,her partner is sitting with her right now waiting for her to wake up, bless her:o))) Must go Take care jude sarf wales x |

Hi everyone, Its a lovely sunny morning here and quite warm, I didn't bother putting a jacket on to take my granddaughter to work. Brenda, why on earth did I put that I would wish you a happy birthday for Friday, I have you on my list for Thursday, another senior moment! Elisabeth, Reading your message about posting the sixpences, has reminded me I have to post 2 parcels to my grandson, Yesterday, everything was in one parcel and it was going to coat over £24 to send it, so I brought it back home for Gaynor to split into 2, and then we should save £10. I'd rather spend the £10 on him than give to the Postal Services. Yesterday, I was having another look at my Ancestors and I found some notes that I had entered on my tree, I confirmed them on the Parish Registers, so now I have to find his parents because he was born in 1604 and if I find his parents, I will be back in the 1500s!!. I have to take Gaynor to the docs shortly so have to keep an eye on the time, it is her usual check up and weigh in. Hopefully I will put a message on tomorrow before I leave for Manchester if not I will post when I get back. Love June xx |

He has discoverd that the restaurant at the hospital does a very nice 'lite breakfast' so has offered to buy me breakfast when we get there. June ,hope to be at the pub by 12 at the latest, you can wish me happy birthday then, as it is actually on thursday. Sorry not to mention everyone else, but promised a friend to look for her grandparents deaths on what to me is still '1837' as I have a few spare credits to use,so if I can help anyone with their search on there please email me ,Brenda |

Sorry Fred, You must have nipped on while I was typing, I did have 2 attempts at it.lol Yes I am dying to get out in the garden again, I thought it was going to brighten up but its raining again now. I had said that I wasn't buying any plants with selling the house, but I love sitting in my sunlounge looking out at the flowers, so I have planted some pansies and primulas to brighten things up. I hope Easter brightens up for you, it is easier if the children can play out of doors. Happy gardening, (love to Liz) June xx |

Morning all, Jude - I can understand all you say. I nearly didn't renew, but decided I would just look into the threads that I enjoy, and keep up with news of the friends I have made on the site. I rarely look at any other threads these days and am so sad a all the upset and bitterness that goes on. I hope I can say that I have never intentionally upset anyone, and prefer to say nothing if I can't say something nice. It is pouring with rain here this morning, but it will do the garden good. It was like concrete yesterday when I tried to pull a few weeds out. All the plants and shrubs really need a good drink of water before the warm weather starts. There is nothing fresh to report from here, life goes on much the same. I am just going to post some sixpences off to USA for brides' shoes. I have visions of every bride in Washington State hobbling around with my sixpences in their shoes. The man in the coin shop did offer to do a good deal if I wanted to set up selling them over there. The half-dozen I am sending will be enough for now! I had hoped to buy one for the year we married, but the last were minted in 1967 so that was no good. Kathleen - how nice for Susan to see her hair being of use for the birds. I cut several people's hair for them and often place the trimmings around the garden in the spring, otherwise it goes into the compost bin. I do try to recycle everything! Elisabeth xx |

Hi everyone, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHAN. We started off with a little rain here today but it looks a lot brighter now although rather breezy. Yesterday I had to dash to Lytham, a cheque my daughter should have received last Thursday, still hadn't turned up so we went to collect it by hand. It was a lovely afternoon and Lytham Green was quite busy. Elisabeth, you talking about silver sixpences, reminded me that my father used to put them in my Christmas Pudding. I have been quite mystified recently, I keep finding the new silver coloured 5ps around the house, on my dressing table, my kitchen top and my desk. Sylvia, I hope your ear is now better, you are having a lot of visitors, aren't you? Kathleen, Sorry to hear about Susan's hair but glad she is being positive about it, I hope the birds appreciate that the hair is from a very special lady. Brenda, Hopefully I should see you Thursday, to wish you a Happy Birthday for Friday. Jude, Its lovely to see you again, I understand how you feel about these boards, sometimes I get very depressed and have to sign off and find something more interesting to do. It never used to be this way, I wish Genes could catch the culprit and pass the information on to the police. Anyway you just drop in whenever you want to, give Madoc and Fat cat a hug from me. Being as this is the second time I have typed this, I am signing off quick before I get kicked off. Love June xx |

Hello everyone, Jude, we will miss your messages so I hope you will keep posting them from time to time. You make them sound such fun, it is a shame that a few nasty people can have so much of an effect on the majority who are nice, friendly and helpful. We really shouldn't let them win but it can be very depressing when you read some of the comments. I remember that you wrote about the red kites a little time ago. Recently I read about the farmer who is encouraging them to come to your area, he gets through a auarter of a ton of prime beef every week to keep them fed so that others can enjoy the site of these wonderful birds. It must be a wonderful site to see them flying around. Sylvia, a birthday greeting for Johan. Many Happy Returns of the Day, I hope you have a really lovely birthday. Brenda, hope you manage to get back to sleep. That happens to me whenever I decide to have an early night. June, Fred and everyone else - hope you have a good night and sleep well. God bless Love Kathleen |

hi all l'm sorry l have'nt been on here for a few days, but all this upsetting of people and sadness and arguing etc has really got to me and in a way l regret re-registering. l did peek in earlier and read some of the recent messages on this thread, not all though. l have just added to the Jess or is it jezz, something dog, sorry l can't remember now. my keyboard is packing up as well, l can't use some of the keys, please excuse the punctuation. So - l have decided not to come on the boards very often now, l might pop on here every now and then, but thet depends on how long it takes to load. l have managed to get quite a few things done this past few days, which l would'nt have had l been on here my usual amount of time. my son was here for the weekend and he started on the back garden for us.he has dug all the trench ready for the posts to go in - l have some photos and will try and post some to GC photo's, even that takes an age for some reason. he's going to finish it next weekend with a friend,or atleast do some more - bless. Anyway l must away now, sorry for all this,l will miss all of you,but this board is becoming sooooo unreal, sickening, sad etc. this person really needs to be named and shamed and have the police knocking on their door. Take care all of you. luv Jude sarf wales - Madoc and Fat cat xx |

Hi all Managed to get this thread up so thought I would just add a little message. Susan's hair is now coming out in quite big tufts - so she is putting it out in her garden and then watches the birds come down to collect bits for their nests. As she said, nice to know that it is being put to good use and she is getting to see all the birds and their antics as they sometimes fight over it. Will try to get back later. Hope you are all having a nice day God bless Love Kathleen |

Hi all, According to my calendar today is the first day of Spring. Well it is lovely sunny weather, but the wind is still cold. Johan has gone out to the library in town so hopefully will be away for a few hours - what a good job he doesn't read this thread! Tomorrow, as well as being Johan's birthday, is the big day for me to have my ear syringed out. At last! Am now waiting to hear if a niece (by marriage), she is 93 years of age - is coming tomorrow. If so, she will come with her daughter and son in law. They couldn't come last Saturday as s.i.l. was running the marathon in Rotterdam. He said he wants to do this as long as he can. Ok. I've been putting some finishing touches to a few Easter cards I'm making. The card is in the shape of a 'bunny' and I've decorated them with flowers and other odds and ends. Look lovely, but just realised I must post them this week. All behind like a cows tail! See you lot tomorrow, maybe Sylvia xxx |

Morning all, I will add a little, while I have the page loaded. It takes so long I often forget I have it there. I have done the morning's shopping lists, ready for the afternoon visits. I am going to the double glazing people's workshop in a little while to order a panel for son's back door. It has a cat flap at present, and looks a bit battered so we are getting a new panel. I did discuss it will the our company a while ago, but they needed the exact dimensions, including how thick it is. All that information was gathered at the weekend, so I will go and order it soon. (It could take a while as the girl in the office was at school with me! We always end up nattering for England. Note I said - girl. I still think of myself as that, despite the white hair and a few creaking joints!) This afternoon I am calling at the medal and coin shop in town to buy some sixpences. Son's future Mum-in-law has mailed me about getting some for the 'something old, something blue, etc. and a silver sixpence for her shoe'. I have to send some over to America and someone else in her family is getting married in the summer. (I did get some last year for someone on the site, when her daughter was getting married.) (Perhaps you are reading this Claire?) It is a glorious morning, washing blowing in the breeze and the weeds growing as we sit here. I must get out there and do something about them. My first job though is to sort out Mum-in-law's garden pond. I saw somewhere else Fred didn't have any frogspawn - we have tons! On with the day. Be happy. Elisabeth x |

Hi everyone, Its lovely and sunny again, I will have to water my plants they are all getting dried out. Beckham was quite a hero yesterday. lol. I went into the garage but was only going to the front, but Beckham came in rushing to the back, making his grumbling noise as he went. So I went to have a look and tortoise was on her back, kicking her little legs in the air, she must have been trying to climb out of the pen I had put around the hut and then fallen over. I picked her up and Beckham was snuffling round her, checking her out, she just hissed back at him, lol. Anyway the hut is now outside again and she can have the run of the garden. Kathleen, No Gaynor hasn't got the date yet, the last I heard, Gaynor was having to arrange for the Cd of the Multiscan to be sent to the Neurosurgeon, anyway she passed it on to the solicitor, I cant understand why these Consultants dont work together. I'm glad to hear that Di is keeping busy, please give her my love when you next email. I have just left off, I have 2 blackbirds that come for a bath all the year round, they wait for me to break the ice on the odd occasion it has frozen. I have just found it is these two that have a nest at the bottom of the garden. That is why the bluetits no longer come in the little house, the blackbirds nest is right in front of it. Sylvia, Have you recovered from your party yet, it certainly sounded as though you had a good time. I look forward to seeing your photos. Elisabeth will probably be out shopping or running around after one of her relatives, they are so lucky having Elisabeth there all the time. I expect Jude is busy playing with Madoc and Fred will be doing his garden, what an industrious lot we all are. well I think the blackbirds have finished their baths now, I will water some plants before I put the washing out. Have a good day. Love June xx |

Hello everyone, Sylvia, pleased to hear your party went so well. What a lovely idea to put your wedding picture on the tarts, it sounds like a happy day for everyone. Look forward to seeing some photo's later, I'm sure you looked lovely. June, like you I am sure I put a message on yesterday but it took so long to get the thread to load and it looks as though my message also disappeared into cyber-space. What a great idea to have a double house with Gaynor - peace of mind for everyone. Has Gaynor got a date for her operation yet? Elisabeth, the daffodils are a lovely sight aren't they? I only have a few left now though I have a small bed and a large tub of miniatures. One variety is not yet in flower but the other - I think it's called Firefox, is just coming into flower, haven't got many of those though. The hyacinths are doing quite well and I see my clematis has started to grow. It is one that has to be cut right down and I actually remembered to do it at the right time last year. The one that grows through the choisya is too difficult for me to do anything with so I leave that to it's own devices and it seems to flower well every year. My forsythia is in full bloom and looks really good. Apart from that the rest of the garden is a total mess. I have killed off most of the grass and hope to get it dug over and a lawn relaid. I would like some raised beds but not sure if that will ever get done. My youngest son got married in Florida and had a reception back here about a month later. They did all the planning though. I regret that I didn't go to the wedding but the bride's parents couldn't afford to go and at the time I felt it would be unfair for me to go if they couldn't. My d-i-l did have her brother and his wife & children there and her grandmother lives there so she did have family but Terry didn't have anyone. Still no good regretting it now. Fred, so pleased you decided to stay around we would miss you. Do take it easy, you have paid your dues and your health is too important to take chances with. With your eye for a bargain can I ask you to come shopping with me next time I need to shop? Brenda, I hope that John is recovering from his cold. There seems to be some really nasty 'bugs' around this year. How is your leg now? Jude - where are you? Playing hide and seek with Madoc again I bet!! Christine, sounds like you had a good trip and it's great to meet up with other GC people. I have met quite a few - including Gaynor, a lady so full of life and humour it is so very sad that she is now so ill. Have heard from Di and she is keeping very busy, they have had such lovely weather that she has been tending her garden much of the time and doing a lot of sewing. John has had his usual cancer check-up and they want to see him again. She thought it would not be too serious as they did not make it a matter of urgency. Let's hope it all turns out well. Susan has her ups and downs but is pretty good on the whole. Staying quite positive and getting out a bit although not on public transport. She has had a cold but it doesn't seem too bad, no temperature. Indira checks it just to be sure. Looks like the weather is going to be a bit less bright and sunny for the next few days but definitely warmer. Only two weeks ago we had snow!! Hopefully the Easter weekend will be brighter again. It has been lovely for the past couple of days, so good to see the sun it makes everyone much more cheerful. Goodnight sleep well God bless Kathleen |

Brenda, Gaynor was buying her ink at Asda because it was cheaper (they didn't have the one I needed even though they had the same make) but she has now found that Sainsbury's is £5 cheaper than Asda, so next time, I will be checking there first. Just shows it pays to look around. June xx |
