Hi everyone, Sylvia, how do you manage to get so much done in the houe and yet still put a message on here every day? Pleased to see you all 'chirpy'! June glad you've got the house move sorted. Sounds as if your computer wants looking at, if I remember rightly it has been slow since the start. Kathleen, pleased susan is feeling happier and hope the rest of the treatment passed quickly for her. Hope the babies both arrive safely too. Fred, you always make me feel hungry with all your talk of food. We had plain and simply gammon, egg, oven chips and beans tonight. One of the few meals that tony cooks so i make the most of it. Brenda, rushing around again I see. and up in the middle of the night too. Jude, haven't e mailed you lately (is it my turn though?) I am off to hampshire for a week on Saturday to look after daughter's boys (well to cook for them). Then te following weekend we go to dorset for a week. Only hope the young plants amd growing seeds survive. Luckily our neighbours are great and will look after Holly the cat and all the plants. (I do pay her but it is a pittance for what she does. have a job to persuade her to take anything but I feel it is only fair as we are away so much. Anyway, not on line while away so probably wont be back on here until about 16th May. Hope the weather has improved by then. Ann Glos |

Hi all, It's me, like a bad penny turning up. Well today I woke with a start with Johan bringing me a cup of tea in bed and I thought he said 'Poetin has been blown up'. Well I knew he (Poetin) was visiting Israel, so anything could happen. When I went into the sitting room, cup of tea in hand, as Johan was watching the news, I asked him what he said, and he said 'nothing'. What a strange beginning to my day. Having got over that I started on a day of hard work. First that hated job - the oven, then cupboards - saving lots of jamjars for making marmalade and jam, but now have too many. Lots of empty plastic ice-cream boxes for use in the freezer, now too many. Oh my cupboards look so tidy, but for how long. I'm a terrible hoarder! I've changed the beds, washed the bedding and ironed it. Apart from getting the dinner, have done nothing else. Now I want to watch a bit of snooker. See you tomorrow. Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, Sorry I'm a bit late today, but my computer is driving me mad at the moment. It is running so slow, Gaynor has been trying to use it today and was getting very frustrated with it too. She also thinks that it hasn't been set up properly. I think I am going to have to have someone come out to the house to look at it. Thank goodbess we dont need to go back to the house again apart from looking for post. We still have to find homes for some of the things at my house, not much to sort out now though. I'm glad to hear that everyone is keeping alright, I'll be back on tomorrow, Love June xx |

Good morning everyone, Didn't get on the computer yesterday at all. It was a thoroughly miserable day weatherwise, rain, wind and none too warm. Today it has been quite bright though still quite chilly and I think it will rain later as it keeps turning dull now. You are all very busy as usual, I don't seem to have achieved much this morning though I didn't sit down until I came on here. Last evening spent some time looking at brochures to sort out new stuff for the bathroom which will be completely refurbished, new suite, tiles and flooring. Major upheaval ahead!!! And my kitchen still has to have the painting finished. Susan has one more chemo session to go for this course, then the radiotherapy starts beginning of June and the second course of chemo which is injections and shouldn't be so bad. Hopefully should all be finished by September. Still waiting for the two expectant mothers to deliver, my nephew's wife is to be induced next Thursday as the baby is not very happy and my neice is due this weekend - maybe both babies will arrive on the same day. Must go and do some work now. Hope you all have a good day. God bless Love Kathleen |

Hi all, Nice to see you back Fred. You put me to shame with your cooking. I too like a variety of meals. Sometimes I cook Dutch, sometimes English and interspersed with African etc. Variety is the spice of life so they say. Stuck to one husband so have to have variety somewhere else! I'm typing here whilst waiting for friends to arrive. The weather looks good and is dry. My daughter is popping in this afternoon. She is loaning me a suitcase for my holiday to Spain. All our cases are so old and none with wheels, so am borrowing one - maybe Johan might be encouraged to buy a new one when he says how much easier they are with wheels. When we went by car we just packed everything into crates so didn't need a suitcase. Brenda, you are so busy, just like June. Just don't know how you fit everything in. I don't know where I used to find time to work. I did work until I was 63. Did all my shopping on my bike, and now 10 years further cannot even ride my bike any more! Yes, age has taken its toll on me, or was it the cancer? Must go for now. Have a nice day, Sylvia xxx |

Hi all ,Kathlene ,i was pleased to find out that Susan is doing better now, tell her when she is better ,i will race her round the block on roller skates if she will give me a head start[after all ,i am a lot older]. Seeing as you asked Sylvia it's chicken breast ,done in a tikka sauce with coconut milk, steamed cauli, spring cabbage and sliced carrots ,and mashed potato, followed by poached pears in a confectioners custard. Tomorrow it's the wifes turn to cook ,so if you hav'nt heard from me by seven ,it's a hospital job again he he.[don't you dare tell her ,i was only joking ,honest] ,[argh] sound of raw potato hitting Fred's left ear. Liz is a typical northern cook,is pretty conservative and does plain meals ,but what she does when she can manage is very tasty, mince and tattie is good, casserole is great, roast chicken with roast potatoes is ace and her cakes and tattie cakes are out of this world, and her cheese scones i would match with anyones. The crumbles are soooo good ,but she won't do them very often because they are bad for me,i keep telling her they are half fruit but she won't bite [sniff] Well ,that's it for now ,but i will look in tomorrow to see how everyone is getting on .ttfn.Fred.PtfA&G&G&S. |

Hi everyone, Its raining today, just because I have had my hair done. This morning was our Spanish lesson, then I went to the hairdressers, went home picked Gaynor up and went up to the house to give the cupboards a wipe down, before handing over. Then we had to pick my grandaughter up from work, she and Gaynor wanted to go on the sunbeds before we went home. Jude, its nice to see you again, Gaynor is still in a lot of pain and she can tell she has been trying to help with the move. Kathleen, I hope you have now seen a doctor with your knee, and hope it will soon be better. I'm glad Susan is making progress, the trouble none of us like waiting to get back to our normal selves. Mary, Its nice of you to drop in to see us, we need a bit of sunshine! Brenda, you should be proud of yourself today, attending to the sick, doing your good deed of the day. Fred nice to have you back. Ann, your St George's night sounded very good. Sylvia, you are still busy with your cooking etc, I dont know how you manage to do it all. Sorry to rush off but my dinner is ready and so am I. Love June xx |

Kathleen, glad to hear that your daughter is doing ok. Of course it will take time before she is feeling really fit. I only had radiotherapy, but it must have been a year before I felt fit again. Nobody else on here today, oh well. I was up early as I had to have my blood pricked ready for the diabetes specialist next week. The nurse asked me when my birthday was and I said 'you've got it on the form in front of you' and she said yes, but like to check to make sure - ok. Johan also had to be pricked so the same procedure went on with him. I said 'can't you see he is older than I am'. I suppose it is good to be double checked! When I came home I dusted and tidied our sitting room as I have friends for coffee and lunch tomorrow. I also made white and brown bread and did some ironing. Also swept the balcony as the birds had made such a mess - yes, Sylvia you will feed the birds, and they like to leave their offerings - ok I do like to see the birds. Fred, what are we eating today? Now have a nice evening everybody Sylvia xxx |

Hello everyone, so nice to see Fred, Ann and Mary back. Mary it has been a long time, hope you are keeping well. Took Susan for her scan today and all is well. They were checking on the remaining lymph glands but it seems they were all removed. The reason she was not looking forward to it was because she thought it was a mammogram and as she is still very sore and tender was not looking forward to it at all. She is feeling much brighter now that is over. As she needed some shopping we went into Tesco (which is in the hospital grounds), the smell of the bakery made her feel rather sick but was ok after a few minutes. Sorry this is going to be brief, seems to have been a tiring day and my brain has gone to sleep - think I'll join it. :-) God bless Love Kathleen |

Hi all, Welcome back all you long lost sheep. It's about time you all showed up again. I was beginning to feel so lonely. We had some nice weather here today, sunny and warm, but rain is forecast for tomorrow. Went to the wholesalers today and thought that the bargains started today but they start tomorrow. All that way for nothing. Well, I did some shopping of course. I was so tired when I returned home, and after putting the shopping away I just watched snooker on television. I love snooker. Tomorrow have to have blood pricked ready for diabetes control next week, so will have to be up early again. Must do something in the house as I have visitors for coffee and lunch on Wednesday. See you tomorrow, Sylvia xxx |

sorry, I keep missing this thread, been on the boards but i realised today that it is a while since I posted on this one. Just read back a few postings, good to see all your news. Saturday i went to the glos family history Fair, bought a couple of old books, one called Life below stairs, one the old Towns of England. not had time to read them yet. The eafternoon we spent in the garden. Then in the evening we had a St Georges night at the Golf club which was an entertaining evening with a man on the keyboard playing all the patriotic songs, then an hour of disco - popular tunes-, then more singalong to land of Hope & Glory etc. With much flag waving. sunday we went to a couple of Garden centres for some wood for Tony to make a planter to put a clematis in - he eventually got it at B&Q. Then spent a bit of time in the garden. Today I met Sally (with senior moments - previously with dogs) off the board at a local garden centre for coffee. we had not met before bu we didn't stop talking all the time we were there. good to see you again Fred, pleased all is well and that you had a good break. we have missed you. Everyone else - sorry no personal messages but I hope you are all OK. take Care Ann Glos |

Hello all, Pleased to see you Jude, did you find out how Fred is? Brenda, I am taking Susan to hospital tomorrow for her scan. She is still not too well so I hope it will be quick so I can get her home again and resting. Not seen the doctor yet - it will take a few days (at least) to get an appointment but it has felt a bit easier today. Funnily enough I get a pain in my groin/thigh if I sit for long, actually it aches but becomes a pain when I stand up again. June hope all goes well with the move and that you soon find the house you are looking for. It will be good to have Gaynor with you when you do finally get settled. Moving is such a pain isn't it? Don't know how my mother coped, we moved at least once a year and often more. My Dad didn't like not having us with him wherever he was working. If it was more than a few weeks - we moved!! I remember the when the second Christmas was approaching after we had moved to Preston we were asking when we would be moving. When Mum said 'why do you think we are moving' we said 'well we were in this house last Christmas' had never spent two in the same house before. Sylvia, I can imagine how much you are looking forward to your holiday. Just to be in a milder climate for a while and hopefully come home to better, warmer weather. It is those cold winds that make it so miserable - and the rain of course. It used to be absolutely not the thing to hang washing out on a Sunday even if it was the only fine day all the week. So many of the old 'rules' have gone nowadays, like having to whiten your doorstep and shake the mats before 8am - does anyone even do that anymore? Am off now to tidy up the mess I have made sorting some paperwork. It was supposed to be clearing a mess but I seem to have created more in the process. Have a good night and sleep well God bless Love Kathleen |
