Hi, In answer to Fred, Jude is fine, she is spending more time on her hobbies and less on the boards at the moment. Although I suspect she is peeping in now and again. Fred I too have a pet, a very lazy cat called Holly, she is about (can't say for sure as she was a rescue cat) fifteen, very healthy, still likes to chase the occasional bird although these days they seem to outrun her!! She is grey and white and a real home cat. Ann Glos

Hello all, When Sylvia returns from her holiday it will take her a week to catch up on all the messages - I know she will love it!! It is great to have lots of new friends joining us here. Bill - we already have water restrictions as they tell us we have not had anything like enough rain. Well you could have fooled me, or perhaps it was just my imagination that I got soaked everytime I went out. It will take a while to remember all the new names Sylvia Whalley I remember from long ago and Bill of course is an old friend. Have a few 'senior' moments now and then so please forgive me if I get muddled sometimes. It's warm today, but a bit cloudy so only occasionally bright and sunny. A very hot day forecast for tomorrow (Friday) but then back to the rain for much of the weekend, doesn't look so good for the Bank Holiday Monday. I don't have pets anymore, had 3 cats Lucy (Mum) Fred and Tabby Cat her two offspring when our dog arrived Kyzer (a crossbred Staff/Doberman) they soon put him in his place. He was always a little bit scared of them. Unfortunately the cats all died when they reached 19 and Kyzer at 15 a couple of years later. Won't go there again, too heartbreaking. But I love to hear about other peoples pets and their antics. Must be off to do some work now. God bless Love Kathleen

Hi Brenda, Fred, June, Bill and everyone else on FNW At the moment I don’t know you all too well, but it is lovely to hear all your news. Susan I have a dog called Lucy too, also Sally, Marley, Dredi and Brandy and a cat called Rizla not of course forgetting the goat…Margaret, who is pregnant and should kid at any moment. Today is a holiday here…Corpus Christi…the day all the gardeners plant their peas and corn. Unfortunately it is very dry still this year so I don’t expect much will get planted today. I am trying to get off this computer so that I can go into the garden.. more because I feel I should rather than that I actually want to. I love gardening but it is very hard here. During the dry season the ground is like concrete and during the wet season like mud, you have to catch it in between to really enjoy it but I have some beautiful flowers here Bougainvillea’s are wonderful in the dry season as is Plumbego (spelling?) But the bush seems to grow whatever the weather!!! Susan I could do with Banana Guards…..we have a bunch that has just bust (started to grow) so looking forward to those….if I can let them ripen before my husband eats them all green!!! West Indians eat them when they are small and unripe, they steam them in casseroles. Well, folks I hope to get to know you all a bit better, so that I can actually reply to some of your comments without putting my foot in it. Thank you for making me feel welcome here. Jacquie

Hi Fred Yes it is good that we have had needles to protect us from full blown Pneumonia, even though I havent had my shot this year as yet. But you are right without it we might not be here. My Dr. has been giving me the Flu needle every year, and one for Pneumonia since I had my heart turn and ended up with my AICD unit. As you know only too well you cant take chances when you have a heart condition. Not much else is news so I am going to go for the night and rest, as I am feeling a little tight in the chest, I think we are in for a cold night, it was -1 last night and I think it will be about the same tonight.

Liverpool[oooops],sorry Brenda,he he,i signed in here just now and thought i had the wrong thread,so busy ,it reminds me of Victoria station ,or Paddington. So many old friends turning up ,it's brilliant. It's so nice to know that Susan is a bit better Kathleen ,long may it continue and i'm sure we all hope for a complete recovery. Don't you worry about the age gap Ann,there are quite a few a lot older than you on here ,and Brenda caters for all of us no matter what . Mary so nice to see you my friend ,do tell being frank as usual ,just how long did that pudding last?If it was my lot it would'nt see the day out.Mr Ripley and Judy have turned up too, this is getting better and better ,now all we need to complete the picture is all the other pets to turn up with their antics for a real fun day,Madoc,Fat cat,Mr Darcy,Anna,Sophie,Wally, andCaillagh[Bet iv'e missed one or two. Talking of Madoc,i hav'nt seen Jude for a while,i hope she is okay. Leigh,as Bill says ,don't worry about the moving ,he said much the same to me last october ,when we were forced to move ,and i was very ill waiting for triple bypass surgery ,here i am now wondering what it was all about,Me and Liz are as happy as ,tweedldum, and dee with a new rattle ,and have never been happier in our lives, and in a few months i have no doubt you will be as happy with your move. Nice to see Sylvia ,and Wally too ,and Sue,it's nice to hear from you again ,the illness takes a while to get over ,but Liz is fine after getting over it and i'm positive it will go as well for you,but isn't it a good thing you have both been innoculated against a full blown attack, one of those would certainly finish me off that's for sure. Sorry to anyone i have missed,i didn't put Bill down cause i have already spoken to him this morning ,but what can i add exept to say that when they made him ,they threw the mould away. Liz is waving the ever handy rolling pin which means it's time to go ,cyal.Fred.PtfA&G&G&S.

Good Afternoon Everyone Hope you are all having a good day. Been back from work for and hour and half. Waiting for the deputy principal from the school to call me. Its like waiting outside the office when your a child. Gives you butterflies. Blair has been in a bit of trouble over the last couple of days and has been given a 2 day suspension. Im trying to find out all about it. Last day of paid work for the week. Im back to the dentist tomorrow to get my teeth cleaned and check out what else need to be done. Then it will be home to do some house work. Mind you I dont know why I do it before the weekend as by Satuday it needs to be done again. We are hoping that we will have fine weather for Sunday as there is 'Nostalgic' drag racing on this Sunday, and my boss is racing his old Chevy. Well I better go. Wally the bird is dive bombing Caillagh the dog. One day, Caillagh will catch him. As he flies down she jumps up. She has had tail feathers in her mouth before. LOL (p.s. If you want to see photos of them, go to the GR Photos site). I will catch up with you all later Bye for Now, Love to you all TRUDY

Hi everyone, It looks as though we are in for another sunny day and its definitely warmer. I have had 108 pages of my ancestors sent to me, some I already have but there is it a lot of information from wills, bonds and land deeds etc. which I hadn't got. I received it Tuesday evening and had to drag myself off to bed otherwise I would have been up all night, Last night, after looking through it all day, I couldn't sit any longer, my back was aching so much. I wont be able to sit all day today, I am meeting up with some former work colleagues for lunch so my back will have a rest. Ann, its nice to have you back amongst us. I bet it was a surprise see all these lovely people joining in. Sylvia is going to be in for a surprise when she gets back from Spain, she will love having all these new friends. Kathleen, I'm pleased to hear that Susan is feeling better and that she has enjoyed her birthday. Dont you be overdoing things, take care of yourself. Sylvia, Its lovely to have you, I hope things with Norm are a bit better now. Bill, I'm glad you are still chatting with us and keeping us up to date with your activities. Sorry I haven't mentioned everyone but I have read your interesting messages. Take care everyone, June xx

Hi Again, I just had to reply again, as I was looking through my messages, I noticed an advert at the top of the screeen for lakeland products. There was a banana guard. Can anyone tell me why I need a banana guard? I must say it gave me a good laugh. It must be one of the most useless inventions ever. Bye for now Susan

Hi to all new and old FNW's on this thread We have got a cold day here today. As some of you know I am just getting over Pneumonia and I thought I felt ok so I went to town to do some banking business that I have been delaying and also paid the power and got Tattslotto and by the time I got home I was totally worn out, as it is my first trip out since getting sick. Even though it is cold in Tassie we are still needing rain, a bit like Susan was saying about Queensland. Our rainfall over the last 10 months has been 40% below average, and it has not been much better for a couple of years now. We got rain on Tuesday and that was the first rain for ages, they are predicting rain for tommorrow so we will have to wait and see. It is good to see Bills friendly old names show up on this thread, now with us all together heres hoping for one big happy family.

Hello Brenda and all my new FNW. WELL DONE LIVERPOOL. I hope that my 'orphan' days are now over. Hi, Bill, glad to see you popped in and I am really pleased to see you Sylvia, how are you doing. Is Norman keeping up with his medication? Some know that Sophie the cat is a new addition to our family, she has a habit of bringing mice into the house. Last night, or I should say about 3am, she caught a mouse and was tormenting it , as cats do, I got up and took it away from her, and for ease, as I was half asleep, I put it in the waste basket in the bathroom. Next news she was rolling it all over the floor. To cut a long story short, after 3 attempts, including putting the waste basket in the bath, I had a brainwave and closed the bathroom door. I managed to get back to sleep at 4.30. Today, she has decided it's is good fun to terrorise the dog. Maybe we should have called her Saddam. it's another bright and sunny day in Queensland and we are still all praying for rain. For my new FNW, many areas of Australia are in a very bad drought. It would be about 7 years since we have had a good rainy season, which in Queensland is the summer. So could you all blow very hard and send some Great British clouds our way. In return we will send you some Aussie sunshine. Well, bye for now Susan

Hi everyone, welcome to all our newer friends. It's good to see so many new messages on here. It's a bit late now - got sort of side-tracked with phone calls earlier and had a little success in tracing a gt.aunt and finally found her marriage but can't find her on 1901 census. She was one of the awkward ones who changed her name from time to time so tried various combinations but still no luck. Am a bit too tired now to contribute much. All is well with Susan, it was her birthday on Tuesday and she had a good weekend with my younger daughter visiting from Solihull on Sunday and taking her out for lunch. Yesterday my sister took her out also for lunch and spent a couple of hours around Richmond and Twickenham. She is looking much better and more relaxed now. Hopefully will get back tomorrow (or later today!!). Have a good day or night wherever you may be. God bless Love Kathleen

We have 3 daughters,3 wonderful son-in-laws and 7 precious grandchildren ranging in ages from 6yrs to 25yrs .I first became interested in genealogy when my cousin did my maternal side family tree so decided to do my husbands,he was born in Cumbria and as I have never been outside of NZ you can imagine the fun I have had, feeling my way round Lancashire and Yorkshire !! For the first time in our married life we are down to 1 dog (use to have at least 5)Anna is 10yrs so we will no doubt be thinking of getting another 'baby' soon and of course we have the one and only Ripley the cat, sometimes partner in crime with Mr.D and Sophie - over the net that is. Hi Brenda, June, Elizabeth, Kathleen, Fred and others too numerous to mention. gosh things have changed since Iw as last on here a couple of weeks ago. Sorry Brenda not to have been on lately, had so much to do after coming home from Dorset that i only put a few brief remarks on the boards. Nice to see some 'new' faces on here. welcome to everyone from Bill's thread and hello Bill. for those who don't know me I am retired and live in Gloucestershire and have been a member of Gened for about 3 years now. Still enjoy it but find that some of the threads are more suited to the 'younger' element these days. I am researching my tree and have been for 30 years or so, I love the hobby but spend too much time chatting on here some days I must admit. My other hobbies are photography, gardening, walking, reading, letter writing (the ink sort) and card making. when I was in Dorset recently I managed to get to the Dorset record office and traced my Riggs ancestors back to 1690. Was most impressed that my Gt X 5 Grandfather Thomas Riggs was buried in 1783 at the age of 93. Good for those days? Brenda, i will try to get back on more regularly for a while (until 4th when we go to cornwall for a week) Take care everyone Ann Glos

Hi everyone, This is lovely seeing you all here. so interesting reading about you all too. Although I have seen your names on Bill's thread, I have only picked up little bits of information about you all. I live in the NorthWest of England, I was born in Derbyshire but moved with my parents to Blackpool, on the coast, when I was 16 ( along time ago). I have one daughter, who at the moment is living with me with her husband and daughter. We are looking for a bigger house where we can all have our own space but have to sell mine first. I also have a grandson who lives in Denmark. I usually pop on here each day, as Brenda says we have met at the Manchester meetups, she is a lovely friendly person. I do enjoy these meetups and have met quite a few nice people who are members of Genes. I am going to the Liverpool meetup on June 18th, I am really looking forward to that, last years was very good. Liverpool must be proud of the way the Docklands etc has been rejuvenated. Bill I hope you haven't removed your photos. Well I must stop waffling on, see you again soon. June xx
