Hi to all new and old FNW's on this thread We have got a cold day here today. As some of you know I am just getting over Pneumonia and I thought I felt ok so I went to town to do some banking business that I have been delaying and also paid the power and got Tattslotto and by the time I got home I was totally worn out, as it is my first trip out since getting sick. Even though it is cold in Tassie we are still needing rain, a bit like Susan was saying about Queensland. Our rainfall over the last 10 months has been 40% below average, and it has not been much better for a couple of years now. We got rain on Tuesday and that was the first rain for ages, they are predicting rain for tommorrow so we will have to wait and see. It is good to see Bills friendly old names show up on this thread, now with us all together heres hoping for one big happy family. |

Hi Again, I just had to reply again, as I was looking through my messages, I noticed an advert at the top of the screeen for lakeland products. There was a banana guard. Can anyone tell me why I need a banana guard? I must say it gave me a good laugh. It must be one of the most useless inventions ever. Bye for now Susan |

Hi everyone, It looks as though we are in for another sunny day and its definitely warmer. I have had 108 pages of my ancestors sent to me, some I already have but there is it a lot of information from wills, bonds and land deeds etc. which I hadn't got. I received it Tuesday evening and had to drag myself off to bed otherwise I would have been up all night, Last night, after looking through it all day, I couldn't sit any longer, my back was aching so much. I wont be able to sit all day today, I am meeting up with some former work colleagues for lunch so my back will have a rest. Ann, its nice to have you back amongst us. I bet it was a surprise see all these lovely people joining in. Sylvia is going to be in for a surprise when she gets back from Spain, she will love having all these new friends. Kathleen, I'm pleased to hear that Susan is feeling better and that she has enjoyed her birthday. Dont you be overdoing things, take care of yourself. Sylvia, Its lovely to have you, I hope things with Norm are a bit better now. Bill, I'm glad you are still chatting with us and keeping us up to date with your activities. Sorry I haven't mentioned everyone but I have read your interesting messages. Take care everyone, June xx |

Good Afternoon Everyone Hope you are all having a good day. Been back from work for and hour and half. Waiting for the deputy principal from the school to call me. Its like waiting outside the office when your a child. Gives you butterflies. Blair has been in a bit of trouble over the last couple of days and has been given a 2 day suspension. Im trying to find out all about it. Last day of paid work for the week. Im back to the dentist tomorrow to get my teeth cleaned and check out what else need to be done. Then it will be home to do some house work. Mind you I dont know why I do it before the weekend as by Satuday it needs to be done again. We are hoping that we will have fine weather for Sunday as there is 'Nostalgic' drag racing on this Sunday, and my boss is racing his old Chevy. Well I better go. Wally the bird is dive bombing Caillagh the dog. One day, Caillagh will catch him. As he flies down she jumps up. She has had tail feathers in her mouth before. LOL (p.s. If you want to see photos of them, go to the GR Photos site). I will catch up with you all later Bye for Now, Love to you all TRUDY |

Liverpool[oooops],sorry Brenda,he he,i signed in here just now and thought i had the wrong thread,so busy ,it reminds me of Victoria station ,or Paddington. So many old friends turning up ,it's brilliant. It's so nice to know that Susan is a bit better Kathleen ,long may it continue and i'm sure we all hope for a complete recovery. Don't you worry about the age gap Ann,there are quite a few a lot older than you on here ,and Brenda caters for all of us no matter what . Mary so nice to see you my friend ,do tell being frank as usual ,just how long did that pudding last?If it was my lot it would'nt see the day out.Mr Ripley and Judy have turned up too, this is getting better and better ,now all we need to complete the picture is all the other pets to turn up with their antics for a real fun day,Madoc,Fat cat,Mr Darcy,Anna,Sophie,Wally, andCaillagh[Bet iv'e missed one or two. Talking of Madoc,i hav'nt seen Jude for a while,i hope she is okay. Leigh,as Bill says ,don't worry about the moving ,he said much the same to me last october ,when we were forced to move ,and i was very ill waiting for triple bypass surgery ,here i am now wondering what it was all about,Me and Liz are as happy as ,tweedldum, and dee with a new rattle ,and have never been happier in our lives, and in a few months i have no doubt you will be as happy with your move. Nice to see Sylvia ,and Wally too ,and Sue,it's nice to hear from you again ,the illness takes a while to get over ,but Liz is fine after getting over it and i'm positive it will go as well for you,but isn't it a good thing you have both been innoculated against a full blown attack, one of those would certainly finish me off that's for sure. Sorry to anyone i have missed,i didn't put Bill down cause i have already spoken to him this morning ,but what can i add exept to say that when they made him ,they threw the mould away. Liz is waving the ever handy rolling pin which means it's time to go ,cyal.Fred.PtfA&G&G&S. |

Hi Fred Yes it is good that we have had needles to protect us from full blown Pneumonia, even though I havent had my shot this year as yet. But you are right without it we might not be here. My Dr. has been giving me the Flu needle every year, and one for Pneumonia since I had my heart turn and ended up with my AICD unit. As you know only too well you cant take chances when you have a heart condition. Not much else is news so I am going to go for the night and rest, as I am feeling a little tight in the chest, I think we are in for a cold night, it was -1 last night and I think it will be about the same tonight. |

Hi Brenda, Fred, June, Bill and everyone else on FNW At the moment I don’t know you all too well, but it is lovely to hear all your news. Susan I have a dog called Lucy too, also Sally, Marley, Dredi and Brandy and a cat called Rizla not of course forgetting the goat…Margaret, who is pregnant and should kid at any moment. Today is a holiday here…Corpus Christi…the day all the gardeners plant their peas and corn. Unfortunately it is very dry still this year so I don’t expect much will get planted today. I am trying to get off this computer so that I can go into the garden.. more because I feel I should rather than that I actually want to. I love gardening but it is very hard here. During the dry season the ground is like concrete and during the wet season like mud, you have to catch it in between to really enjoy it but I have some beautiful flowers here Bougainvillea’s are wonderful in the dry season as is Plumbego (spelling?) But the bush seems to grow whatever the weather!!! Susan I could do with Banana Guards…..we have a bunch that has just bust (started to grow) so looking forward to those….if I can let them ripen before my husband eats them all green!!! West Indians eat them when they are small and unripe, they steam them in casseroles. Well, folks I hope to get to know you all a bit better, so that I can actually reply to some of your comments without putting my foot in it. Thank you for making me feel welcome here. Jacquie |

Hello all, When Sylvia returns from her holiday it will take her a week to catch up on all the messages - I know she will love it!! It is great to have lots of new friends joining us here. Bill - we already have water restrictions as they tell us we have not had anything like enough rain. Well you could have fooled me, or perhaps it was just my imagination that I got soaked everytime I went out. It will take a while to remember all the new names Sylvia Whalley I remember from long ago and Bill of course is an old friend. Have a few 'senior' moments now and then so please forgive me if I get muddled sometimes. It's warm today, but a bit cloudy so only occasionally bright and sunny. A very hot day forecast for tomorrow (Friday) but then back to the rain for much of the weekend, doesn't look so good for the Bank Holiday Monday. I don't have pets anymore, had 3 cats Lucy (Mum) Fred and Tabby Cat her two offspring when our dog arrived Kyzer (a crossbred Staff/Doberman) they soon put him in his place. He was always a little bit scared of them. Unfortunately the cats all died when they reached 19 and Kyzer at 15 a couple of years later. Won't go there again, too heartbreaking. But I love to hear about other peoples pets and their antics. Must be off to do some work now. God bless Love Kathleen |

Hi, In answer to Fred, Jude is fine, she is spending more time on her hobbies and less on the boards at the moment. Although I suspect she is peeping in now and again. Fred I too have a pet, a very lazy cat called Holly, she is about (can't say for sure as she was a rescue cat) fifteen, very healthy, still likes to chase the occasional bird although these days they seem to outrun her!! She is grey and white and a real home cat. Ann Glos |

Hi Everyone The weather here in the Bay(Hawkes Bay)is getting a little colder each day so I guess we had better get the long johns out, still as they say,you have to go through Winter to reach Spring. I know by the clock we are the first to see the sun but somehow I always feel like the last to report in but then I have loads of lovely messages to read from the night crew. Well the Lions have landed and although personally I am not a rugby follower,I have no doubt I will get caught up with the enthusiasm of the multitude and watch the games. So lovely to hear from you all and to know there are so many animal friends on board. It has been suggested that a thread be started just for animal tales (tails) what do you think? Hoping you all have a happy day Judy P.S. Congrats to all you Liverpool fans. |

Hi everyone, Looks as though we have another sunny day here. I had a lovely lunch yesterday with my friends, we met at a Garden Center which is disastrous for me, I always buy something. I bought 3 plants for the 'boots' I have in the garden also a lovely calum lily in various colours of orange. I'm sorry thats all I can type at the moment, my back is starting to hurt again, I shouldn't have sat so lomg the other day. Take care. June xx |

Hi all ,Please don't start a thread [only for pets] cause Fred has'nt got one so i could'nt join [sniff] and what would i do if i can't see what my furry chums are up to,unless you will class Liz as a pet ,fred says brightning up a little ,you would have to class her as a bird though as she will have ruffled feathers if she sees this ,he he. We do have our birds in the garden though ,and word has got round among our feathered friends, the garden has been taken over big style ,we are inundated by parents ,with the chicks screaming to be fed chasing them all over the garden . It's already warming up here.and it looks like being a nice day once Liz has finished her visit to the dentist. The difference is amazing ,she has lost all fear of thedentist ,and dos'nt mind going anymore ,and this is a lot easier for me as i have put the whip and lead away ,lol. We put a load of solar lights round the garden of which half are yellow and half are white,Liz says they are runway lights for the birds, but i hope that isn't the case cause if one of them overshoots the landing it will come straight through the patio door into the lounge . The door will be a godsend in the summer though cause we will be able to open them ,and the window on the other end of the room ,and that will give us a through draft ,to keep the house cooland as a last resort we have fans ,and an air conditioning unit, but i don't use that unless i have to ,it reminds me too much of bad times in the middle east ,besides ,you suffer for a while when you leave the protection and go outside ,it's like walking into a furnace .lol. I have promised the bairns a B,B,q next week ,so if anyone is coming ,let me know and i will lay in extra rations[all welcome] Hope everyone is okay ,and the sore backs and other ailments are improving.I'm off to check my e/mail and messages in the hope that someone is wanting to talk and not deliver bills ,you know what i mean?,lol.syal.Fred.PtfA&G&G&S. |

Morning All, June hope your back is better soon, nothing worse. Would have been my idea of heaven having lunch at a Garden Centre but probably very costly!!!! We just take a stick off of someone else’s plant and stick it in the ground and hope it takes!!! Fred the Solar Lights are wonderful aren’t they….when in England last Summer I bought some to bring here and mighty useful they proved to be with no lights here for so long at least we could come in in the dark and not fall over!!!! Well, I thought, a cooler evening had some rain will be able to sleep easier …..but my Mother dog Sally had other ideas!!!! Don’t know what she saw or heard (maybe a Manacou – which is about the size of a Mongoose but only comes out at night) but I couldn’t see anything. Then of course all the others joined in, it was bedlam for a while. Sally is half German Shepherd not sure what the other half is, I’m afraid she was a naughty girl!!!! We kept 3 of her 6 pups and they are all big dogs! Dredi is half Lab and black as the Ace of Spades. After stern warning from me that if they don’t stop the noise I will come down to them, they stopped. This morning it is pouring with rain but blue skies can be seen – it will clear up and be hot again. Our lovely Island needs the rain desperately, it needs to recover, the rain forest was virtually destroyed last September, which was for me one of the saddest sights!!! We have no desalination plant (sea water to fresh) here so we rely on the rain, if Gran E’tang Lake is low we have sever water restrictions, at the moment we mostly get water in the morning but then it goes – we do have a water tank so collect it while we have it. It is lovely to hear all about your lives in far flung countries, thank you Brenda and everyone for welcoming us strays, I had only just found Bills thread and it is so nice to be amongst friends albeit ‘virtually’. I think I will have to keep a journal with your names, where you all are and what you do…..as I, like some of you have said, do get senior moments with the old memory at times. Love Jacquie |

Good evening all from Western Australia and a special hello to friends from Bills thread. How are you Brenda! Talking of animals I have a dog called Melita she came with the name she is a little belgium barge dog Schipeke. A cat called Puss a friend gave me. My two siamese Chang and Ming died nearly the same time aged 20 and seventeen. The Molly dog a blue heeler died of old age also. Why do people think you want other animals when yours die. My friend was moving away this big ginger striped animal named Puss needed a home why not marmaduke or garfield but just Puss!! I think the cat is taller than the dog. Melita is a one person dog she was upset when her previous owner gave her away, but she settled down with me. Lovely weather today after work I was in the garden weeding actually it is the grass runners worth than weeds. I would like to take up the lawns and lay pavers but it is nice for the grandkids to have lawn to run on also the dog loves to throw her toys around on it. I am on a corner and quite a long block so have all the verge to mow as well, pity the shire does not do it. I think I have said before I am from Birmingham. Married an Australian i have a son and daughter and five grandchildren. Enjoy living in Perth. Must go now speak to you soon. Kindest Regards Pam |
