Hello all, My neice is still making progress but nephew's wife was induced this morning and is ahead at the last 'news bulletin'. Wonder if I should take bets on who gets there first? LOL Be back later to let you know. Looks like they will share their birthdays after all. Meantime have a good day. Love Kathleen

Hi all, Well my face is not so swollen as it was, but the rash has spread into my hair and it feels as though I have fleas now! My face is very dry and itchy now. Will see what the doctor has to say tomorrow. The weather isn't so warm, but don't like going out anywhere with my face as it is. We have the steam festival here for a week, all sorts of machines driven by steam!. Lots from England! Today I have made bread, marmalade (from a tin of Mamade), changed the beds and washed the bedding. Having a rest while Linda vacuums the house and then I'll do some ironing. Today it is Liberation Day and it is a public holiday. We have a public holiday every 5 years, and as it is 60 years today everybody has a holiday. Yesterday was Remembrance Day with everybody laying wreaths etc.etc. Television is full of war films, many of which I have already seen. Have a nice day, Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone, I had expected to be back before now but Gaynor needed the PC for a project she is doing. I'll tell you about that later. Yesterday we went to Manchester, my granddaughter had to go to an induction to do with the hairdressing course she is taking. She has been on a train when she was a baby but cant remember it, and she was a bit nervous, so we decided to go with her. We were meeting her for lunch but she made friends with some others and went with them. So we had a good shop around. Sorry visitors, back later. Love June xx

Just a quickie Sylvia - you mentioned a Steam Rally, we went to one on Sunday, it was held in Monmouth South Wales but it was The Forest of Deans (Gloucestershire) annual rally (l think). Really good, took one or two photo's,but for some reason my camera won't download new photo's - l think camera has been deleted from computer and l think the culprit is the SON, seems strange that his camera is on here and not mine!!!!!:o( Hello everyone else.l like the name Eve:o))) See ya jude sarf wales

Hello all, Quick update, it's one down and one to go at the moment. Sarah (my nephew's wife) had a little girl at 4pm. It had to be a C section in the end as both were getting distressed. However at 6lbs 1oz not as small as the doctors were indicating. Both doing well though poor Sarah did go through the mill a bit. Sam is still labouring on very slowly, her little one was due last weekend. My sister came back to London and arrived in time to see her first granddaughter born. She will go back to Sam's tomorrow but I have told her that Murphys law says it will all happen during the night whilst she is not there!! Sarah's baby is to be called Lukka (where did they think that up!!!) but Sam, who knows her baby is a girl, has chosen Daisy. Will get back tomorrow, being a gt. aunt to 10 is exhausting lol Goodnight all, sleep well God bless Love Kathleen

Hi Everyone, Its sunny to day so should get some more washing done, I forgot to say yesterday, that we had a mini tornado a couple of miles away, it ripped off roofs, took a trampoline up in the air etc. it must have been very frightening and though it was so close we didn't know it was happening. Brenda, I did think of asking you if you were working but we thought we were going to have to go back to Whitworth Street West, to meet her for lunch, then she rang us to say that she had met these 2 girls and was going with them, so we went in the Wellington and had a lovely lunch, then we went in Harvey Nichols afterwards. I would love to meet up with you to have lunch when you are not so busy with your social life. Jude, When I had my own kiln and painted my own ceramic ornaments, I used to exhibit on the craft stalls at a lot of Steam rallies. There is one at Malpas near Chester that is a good one. Kathleen, Congratulations on another addition to your family. I have never heard the name Lukka before either. I hope she's a 'good Lukka'. Sylvia, I hope you are better now, do you know yet what has caused it? Like Brenda says, I find I cant have some foods I used to enjoy. I didn't get on the PC much yesterday, Gaynor is on with her little project, I will tell you more when it is finished. I hope the others that haven't been around are alright. Have a good weekend everyone, Love June xx

Congratulationa kathleen, any news on Daisy(really like that name) Lukka is very unusual ,wonder where it is from like you said. June glad you had a nice time ,the Wellington is very popular in the summer. Not been in Harvey Nicholls yet,not sure if it is my type of shop.!! Have a couple of errands again today ,but it will not matter too much if I do not get them done today as I am off on Monday as well. Going for a nice soak in the bath now, what do you think my changes are of no one phoning or ringing the bell!!!! Will not get out to answer them ,but it still spoils the pleasure. brenda

Hi all, Well I'm much better now. Went to the doctor today and she said it is going well but face still slightly swollen. Anyway don't have to go back. I now have to put white vaseline on face as it's so flaky and dry. Anyway, not everybody will be staring at me any more. It was just as though I'd been in the boxing ring. I cannot think what I'm allergic to now. I did have some fried mussels last week, but surely........................ or was it them? Nice to hear about the new babies being born. Lukka sounds Italian. I used to work with an Italian, his name was Luca. The weather is showery here with some sun, but far too much cold wind. I have my winter windjack still on and could have used gloves as well as it was so cold. Johan came with me to the market and shops today as Annemie had to have her hair permed. I have a large sack of my grandson's dirty washing to do. There has been some disagreement with his father's new wife and she threw all his dirty washing in his room and told him to do it himself. Poor kid he's 18 and is working hard at his apprenticeship as cook and attending school. In his spare time he plays football, and also has training to do for this. How can he find the time to do his washing and ironing? Apparently they didn't like it that he gave me some of his expensive clothes to wash as he says that she (the wife) washes them at the wrong temperature etc.etc. Also if he had any stains I managed to get them out for him and did any repairs. This wife doesn't have that much time, so she should be pleased that he is getting some help. They don't even have a sewing machine in the house. I don't want to get involved in any arguments, so will have to talk it over one of these days. Thank you all for your sympathies. Sylvia xxx

Well nobody has added since my last message so will write again. Today bright with sunny showers, very, very cold wind. My grandson came today with a lovely bunch of flowers for me. I said 'I'm not your mother' and he laughed. The flowers were from Linda and Jan (grandchildren) for mother's day tomorrow. My daughter Janet came this afternoon with another bunch of beautiful flowers as she cannot come tomorrow. Her ex husband will be coming tomorrow - always have to make sure they don't bump into each other. I have finished my grandsons washing and ironing and have given my daughter Janet the job of putting a new zip into a pair of grandsons jeans. This is a job I hate doing. I took the old zip out for her and fortunately had a zip in house, so she is busy doing this at home now. I have to make a wedding card for Annemie's niece, so think I will do this now. Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone I did add a message yesterday, or thought I did anyway but it seems to be floating around in cyber-space! No more news on babies, I think Daisy is trying to slip into the world very quietly and without anyone noticing lol Have to be up early so won't stop now. Going to a meeting in the Isle of Wight tomorrow, back on Monday. Will tell you all about it then. Was supposed to have done my hair tonight - will have to try to get it done in the morning now so must try to get some sleep. Hope you all have a good day God bless Love Kathleen

Hi everyone, Its lovely and sunny this morning after the rain we woke up to yesterday, although it did clear up enough for us to get the washing dry, I couldn't get on the computer yesterday, Gaynor was still on with her project, it just needs printing off now and some more CDs burning. She has made a very professional job of it. Brenda, I hope you managed to have your bath in peace, without the phones ringing. We only went in Harvey Nicols for a nosey, everything is so expensive, though I did buy a Tshirt for my granddaughter, just to get the bag, lol Sylvia, I'm glad you are better now. It most probably was the mussels, I remember my mother was very sick and she got a nasty rash after eating them. I used to have a craze for mussels at an Italian restaurant we used to frequent, I had had them lots of times and then one night I was terribly sick after them and I have never fancied them since. I understand what you mean about the 'split ups' in families, it does get rather difficult for the children at times. Sometimes it is hard not to say anything. Kathleen, I hope you enjoy the meeting, you must tell us all about it when you get back and hopefully, Daisy will have made an appearance by then. I had better get dressed now, I have to go and get some more printing ink and I'm hoping Sainsburys have it because they are £5 cheaper than PC World or Comet. Gaynor drefragged my computer last night and it is running much faster now. Love June xx

evening all, just a few lines to let you all know that Fred is still around but a little busy which limits my time at the minute. I was pleased to hear that Sylvia is somewhat better than a week ago ,i would stay away from the mussels for a while ,i hav'nt eten them in years because they are not safe in the north east, some disease they have picked up from contaminated water, but i' told that the irish and welsh ones are fine. I did get into the garden for a while this morning and managed to get two sides of the workshop done before the heavens opened yet again, but not to worry,i reckoni will get that job finished by next weekend. How are fat cat and Madoc doing Jude? i could dowith a bit of cheering up what with this lousy weather,i hav'nt even had a sit outside with a coffee for a week, disgusting i call it..I'm off for my shower now ,catch yuo all tomorrow i expect.Fred.PtfA&G&G&S.

Hi Fred, Nice to see you around again. Thought you'd had all the showers you needed outside without taking another inside LOL Yes, thank God I'm better again. It's Mother's Day here today and couldn't be sick then. Flowers and chocolates, aren't we mother's spoilt! Soon be enjoying the sunshine in Spain. Still haven't got my Spanish books out. I am always telling the children and grandchildren not to leave things until the last minute, and I'm setting them no example am I. The weather here is also bad, showers, intermittent sunshine, but a very, very, cold wind. Have a nice evening everybody. When is it doggy day? Just thinking of Madoc and Beckham! Sylvia xxx

Morning All,did not have chance to get on here on Saturday and yesterday only had time to read messages. Sylvia glad you had a nice mothers day. June,we keep saying we will also have a nosey and perhaps a coffe in Harvey Nicks. Will keep you posted. Kathleen how was the Isle of wight and has Daisy arrived yet? Nice to hear from you Fred, its amazing how some weeks our time is not our own, doing different things for different people. But makes life interesting I suppose. Should be doing some baking for the VE Day Celebrations. at teh library, but can not find a biscuit recipe from that time ,(made with the available ingrediants from the time etc) Made three 'cakes' yesterday,Fatless, eggless walnut cake, and eggless fruit cake, which looks ok. Have not tasted any yet, will let you know how they go. Be back later, take care ,Brenda

syljo Report 9 May 2005 15:08

Fatless and eggless sponge cake, seems almost impossible doesn't it? I remember my mother adding vinegar to replace egg in a cake, but have never tried it. I've just made bread again. I put all the ingredients in the machine and the machine didn't work. It had become stuck and wouldn't turn. So had to tip everything out and Johan took the machine downstairs to his 'den' and got it going again for me. The bread looks ok, even though I had to disturb the programme. The weather here is still very cold, showery, some sun. It is supposed to be better tomorrow. Hope so as our winter fuel bill will be so high, but I cannot be cold and have the central heating on every day. See you again tomorrow, Sylvia xxx

Nanna Gaynor (June nr Preston's Daughter) Report 9 May 2005 16:51

Hi everyone, Its a lovely day here but still chilly. My grandson arrived from Denmark this morning, we picked him up from the station. He was very happy with all the cards and presents and money,he received. The album of his 'Life to date' that Gaynor had done with photos and notes and anecdotes, he really loved. Yesterday it took us 7 hours to print it all off, and then there was the CD to go with it. So now you know why I haven't been around as much. Thank goodness we had found out why the PC was so slow, before we attempted to print it. Fred, Its nice to have you back, I reckon the rain is being kind to you, it keeps having a shower to prevent you doing too much and 'doing' your back in. Sylvia, I hope you have now got your Spanish books out and read through them, ready for your holiday, its not long now to the 17th. Brenda, It didn't occur to me to have a coffee in Harvey Nicols, must do that next time. Gaynor was disappointed the Wheel had gone, she wanted to go up in it. I have been very lazy this afternoon and had a nap, my granddaughter was on my PC and Gaynor was on hers and I am waiting to update my Norton on my laptop. My grandson had gone to see his friend, they have been inseparable for ten years up to him going to Denmark. Well I had better go look at my emails, so take care everyone. Love June xx
