Hello everyone, Couldn't post a message last night after all, my computer shut down on me. There is a nasty worm type thingy around and our Anti-virus stuff kicks in and closes the computer down. By the time I got it back it was so late and I was too tired. Thought it would be a nice warm day, it started sort of hazy and a promise of sun but soon turned to cloudy and decidedly cool. Took Susan to her Group at the day centre, it's quite relaxed there with people to chat to. Planned to do some work for a couple of hours but had a phone call from the school to take Indira to the hospital, she had crushed her finger when someone shut the door on it. They thought she had broken something. However just badly bruised and probably a trapped nerve, they splinted it and told her to take ibuprofen. It will take a couple of weeks to heal but shouldn't give her too much trouble. That took all my time up, brought her home made her a sandwich and a drink and it was time to go and pick Susan up again. Thought I could still fit in an hour or so working but no!! it started to rain heavily and I wasn't in the mood for getting wet so now I will have to do as much as I can tomorrow. Just hope it stays dry. Have felt a bit down all day because of the news of Gaynor, I met her just before she was diagnosed, she was such a lovely person. I feel so sad for her family but, bless her, she did make it to her birthday and beyond. June, you will see that I am in group 8 for the Teddy relay, it's all taking some organising. Let's hope we have some fine weather for it. Sylvia, I have spent time looking at an atlas trying to find where you live but it doesn't seem to be shown on that one so I will look at others and see if I can find it. How far are you from Rotterdam. Hope the weather stays just right for your holiday, not too hot because that is too wearing. Brenda, how frustrating not to be able to get a reader but it was nice to be able to see the photographs. Jude, Fred, Elisabeth and Anne hope all is well with you. I'm feeling a bit tired now - it seems to have been a day of running round in circles and getting nowhere. Thought I was off to a good start after getting to Tesco and home again before 9 this morning but then it all went wrong. Oh well, not to worry tomorrow is another day. For now goodnight all, sleep well (I expect you are all tucked up and sound asleep) God bless Love Kathleen |

Hi everyone, We have a wet start today but hopefully it will clear up lately, yesterday I spent a lot of time on this Teddy Relay but have sorted into 2 groups. Brenda, Jenny, Mommmylong legs, started the idea, just for fun. of having a relay around the country passing on a baton. More people got interested, the baton changed to a Pink Teddy, some wanted money raising for Gaynor's Charity. Some of us didn't want a set amount to contribute so it was decided that it was up to the individual whether they wanted to get sponsorship or not. I personally felt that I couldn't keep pestering friends for money, I have in the past done sponsorships. Anyway, people have put their names forward to help pass the Teddy along, having photos taken at exchange points or up Blackpool Tower etc. It was a mammoth task for Jenny so she sorted us into Groups, the North West Group is Group 15. If anyone cares to join in just contact Jenny or the Group that covers your area. Sylvia, I would like some photos please, I will send my email address. Kathleen, My computer keeps closing down on me, I wonder if I have some horrble virus trying to get in? I hope Indira's finger doesn't take too long to heal, I bet she has been in pain with it, poor love. I'm pleased you too are taking part in the Pink Teddy Relay, it should be great fun and a great way to meet other members. I have already found out that one member lives within walking distance of me, she is at Lostock Hall. I hope Jude, Ann, Elisabeth and Fred and all, are all well. Love June xx |

So Kathleen you couldn't find out where I live. Well it is 1/2 hour's drive from Amsterdam. It is in the polder, reclaimed land. Almere is only 27 years and used to be water. If you see Lelystad, Zeewolde and Almere - these are all towns which used to be sea. I did live in Baarn, which is a delightful little place, but became too expensive for us to live there any more. I lived more than 20 years there. Hope you received the photos June. Well, 'm so glad I'm not going out today as it is raining. This morning I juiced 5 kilos oranges and have put the washing machine on and set the bread in the machine. I've started doing the crossword puzzle, but keep going back to it. It's really a day to do odds and ends. Hope Gaynor's Teddy thing goes off ok. It's nice somebody is doing something, but to be honest, this is not my cup of tea. I would do anything I could otherwise. I did donate money for her fund, so I suppose I did something. I think everybody has happy memories of her, and there is nothing more we can do. Are they going to put the teddy on her grave? Have a nice day everybody. Fred, I hope you are not ill. Please say something. Sylvia xxx |

hi everyone, sorry I haven't been very dilligent about posting on here lately, I have been around, got caught up in the Gaynor bear relay (group 13) great fun but quite confusing to sort out. I am sure it will work. my problem is we are away from 30 April to 14 may (Hampshire and dorset) and another week 4 - 11th June ( Cornwall) so i am hoping to be able to work round that. have iw ritten since the meeting at bristol last Saturday? Thatw ent off very well, great to meet people and have a chat and a laugh, but so many people smoke, i hadn't realised ! None of our friends smoke and I forget that many still do. My clothes smelled terribled when i got home and went straight in the bin. it seemed strange, especially as we were raising money for cancer. Sad news about Gaynor but, in the end, a lovely way to go, very peaceful and how i am sure she would have wished - with Rob by her side. now she is at peace. but i feel for her poor family who are left with a void. We haven't been doing a lot lately here, just working to get the garden and plants ready for planting out end of may. tony has a greenhouse full of seeds and plants and hanging baskets, can't move in there. Thank you for the photos of your cards sylvia, they are really lovely, no wonder they are in demand. Kathleen, i hope indira's finger soon heals, i am sure that was very painful for her poor girl. hope susan gets her scalp problem sorted out soon. Olive oil should do the trick. June, i see you are also busy organising with the relay!! Elizabeth Jude (are you looking in?) Fred and anyone elsearound, hope you are all OK. haven't seen Fred on the boards for ages, wonder if he has computer trouble. Take care Ann Glos |

I will freeze it in and decorate it on Wednesday for him. He is working over day so are going in the evening and taking the grandchildren with us. Rene is 50. How time flies! Just had a long e-mail from Di, and must mail her back as she doesn't know that Gaynor has passed away yet. She sends everybody her greetings. Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone. Its a good washing day here, a bit chilly but dry with a nice breeze. I have recovered after my trailing around houses yesterday, then I came home and all the planning, on the Teddy relay, I had done late Friday night had been changed, Thank goodness Lind D had done a brilliant job in sorting it in my absence. I had a lot of emails from Genes, but they had all DOUBLED up for some reason. Anyway all is sorted now. I know what Ann means about it being hard work but it is fun. Sylvia, Thankyou for the photos of your cards, they are beautiful, no wonder you have plenty of orders for them, you are a very talented lady. Please pass on my best wishes to Di. What with helping with the Teddy Relay and looking for houses and making room for Gaynor and family, I haven't much time but I do enjoy being busy. I hope everyone is alright, I will keep looking in to see what news you have. Love June xx |

Hi all, Still no Fred, where are you, does anybody know? I saw Jude on another thread, so know she's ok. I started cleaning some more windows today and washed and ironed the curtains and a bit of cleaning. I felt so knackered so decided that 'tomorrow is another day'. I had planned to do so much more, but my body won't let me. June, you do so much, take it easy. Brenda, glad that dad is better. Radiotherapy is not half as bad as chemo therapy I've heard. So he has had the worst. We have real April weather here - April showers bring forth May flowers! See you tomorrow, Sylvia xxx |

Hiu all, Have just come back from the shops. Lovely day so far, but supposed to rain this afternoon. Anyway I'm home and dry. Still no sign of Fred. Found two birthday presents today for my daughters whilst I was not even looking for them. They are teddy bears with music in them that fit on an electric light pull, or any other pull. One daughter's birthday is in June and the other in July, so I'm nicely on time. I was looking for a book for somebody in English but couldn't find that. Did some shopping in the supermarket and all the schoolchildren were buying croissants, cakes, drinks etc. so there were long queues. Anyway I always amuse them and they help me with my shopping putting it on the counter and help with packing it in my shopping bag. It is annoying all these children, but then they have just as much right to be in the queue as I do. Hope somebody else adds to the thread today. Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, Its been a lovely day here, nice for the washing. I have been to my Spanish lesson this morning, the person that took us lastweek is ill so we had the area organiser, who is married to a Spaniard, that doesn't sound right, well you know what I mean. lol. She was very good and interesting. Last night I cut my toe and it was bleeding for over 35 minutes, in the end i wrapped a towel round it and sat with my foot up on a chair. So I was late signing on to Genes, I was greeted with lots of messages about the threads for the Teddy relay having to be taken off the board. I was rushing copying all the messages before we lost all the hard work we had put in. I wonder if Ann managed to sort hers out. I have all my handovers sorted its just some of the places for handing over haven't been verified. Brenda, Dont worry about helping with the relay, fortuneately we have a few volunteers around that area. I could really do with someone in the Keswick or Penrith area though. I'm pleased to hear your news on your father, it must be such a relief. Sylvia, Those teddy pulls sound lovely, very unusual, at least I haven't seen them around anyway. Its Gaynor's birthday on Saturday, I dont know what I'm buying her, I haven't heard any hints being dropped, lol I haven't seen Fred around either, he may be involved in this teddy relay, I dont know. Anyway I will dash now, I will see you tomorrow hopefully. Love June xx |

Hi everyone, Its a damp morning in the NorthWest, I hope it clears up later. I am trying to think what I should be doing today, yesterday, I got my days wrong, I thought it was Wednesday not Tuesday, and I went to pick my granddaughter up at the wrong time so I crept back and then went back at the correct time, So I wont make that mistake today. I cant think of anything I have planned, thats makes a change, apart from seeing a friend tonight. I haven't seen Fred either, he often writes on Bill's thread but I haven't seen him on there, I hope he's ok. Right I have decided that I will do a bit more research today, I sent to the Lds for some CDs, so I will look at those and hopefully find some more rellies. I also wrote to someone researching the same name as I am but haven't received a reply as yet, so I just keep hoping, I did enclose a stamped address envelope. Have brought the thread up for you Sylvia. Anyway I'm off for something to eat now. Take care everyone Love June xx |

Hi everybody, Where the heck have you all gone. I think June and I are running this site on our own now - thanks girls. Let's see Brenda, Ann, Kathleen, Jude, Fred back again please. We really cannot miss you. Today is raining so pleased I'm not going out. Johan has gone into town. He is getting some whitewash for our kitchen and then my neighbour can get down to doing it. But most of Johan's time will be spent in the library. I've never known anyone get through so many books in a week as he does. But then he doesn't go on GC! Oh he is also getting some red card so I can finish framing my cross stitch 'All Our Yesteryears'. I think they will look nicer offset with red rather than the white passe partout. I've just finished decorating a Kirsch torte for my son in law this evening. It's a lot of work so am glad it's finished. I can now get down to tidying up my house, emptying the washing machine etc. I felt a bit lazy so put the dishwasher on for the second time this morning, as I couldn't be bothered to wash up the cake making things. Ah well, that's what it's there for, isn't it? I was going to tidy up yesterday afternoon but Annemie came down and said 'when are you coming up to me', so I dropped everything and spent a couple of hours with her. Ah well, tomorrow's always another day I suppose. Have a nice day everybody. Love, Sylvia xxx |

Here I am Sylvia,I have been every day ,and have let you know when i wouldn't or why I wasn't here, not always said much but have been here. Yesterday the weather was beautiful, today it is back to winter and a wet murky one at that. June I am moved about from library to library as you know and work different days and hours each week,I have actually turned up at the right library ,but wrong time, luckily I was early,my worry is not turning up at all and getting a call to see where I am.!!!! Found some rellies on a census last night living in the same street as some rellie froma different branch,25 years later the families joined when my grandparents married.Wonder if they knew each other!!!! Have had a text from my son asking me to do some washing for him,he is at a footie match,so need to put the washer on then get it in the dryer ,as he wants it for morning!!! Take care Brenda |

I'm here as well Sylvia, sorry I didn't get to post for a day or two. It has been a bit dull today but not really cold and stayed dry though yesterday we had sunshine, hailstones, rain and thunder. Did quite a bit of work today, spent over 3 hours walking around. Some letter boxes are lethal, they snap your fingers off but the ones I really hate are those at the bottom of the door. What a silly place to put a letter box!!! Not very safe either as it is possible to remove the post, it is usually only just inside and quite easy to get out. I wish I had a pedometer, it would be interesting to know just how many steps I took and whether I reached the 10,000 they advise we should all do daily. The area I was working in was quite nice with some very pretty gardens, a few were just paved but none were totally neglected. There was one which was paved but covered in small animals, frogs, squirrels, foxes, dogs, cats etc and the largest one was a pig. Most unusual - and not a gnome in site!! Before I went I hung out three loads of washing and it was dry enough to bring in when I got home. Also went for a blood test that I should have had a couple of weeks ago - quite a performance as I don't have very good veins so both arms are bruised now but they got there in the end. Had to go to Tesco for a few bits and pieces, time to cook dinner by the time I got home. My knee has been a bit painful and was aching by the time I had finished, sitting down didn't do much to help as it felt quite uncomfortable when I tried to stand up again. Think I must have banged it harder than I thought when I had that fall. June is not the only one to muddle the days, I did the same thing and so did Chris. He put the bins out this morning and they should have been put out yesterday - so they didn't get emptied. Forgot to tell him that when he came home tonight. My d-i-l had the 1861 census disc for London and managed to find my gt.grandfather for me - someone else had looked for me but couldn't find him. But they were looking for the whole family and it seems he was boarding with another family so goodness knows where gt.grandmother and the children were. They were altogether in 1871. My research has got to the stage where I will have to go to the Archives or Record Centre and look a few things up, also spend some money on a few more certificates. Fred has not been posting any messages on any other threads, usually he has joined in somewhere. I do hope he and Liz are ok. Jude is no doubt busy with Madoc and Fat Cat, no doubt we will hear from her soon. They are forecasting rain for tomorrow, hopefully not until late in the day. My windows need cleaning so I must get them done first thing in the morning before the rain comes. I have loads of bluebells in the back garden, unfortunately there are also an awful lot of nettles growing all around them. I thought I had got rid of the nettles with Weedol but they seem to be thriving on it, I'm sure there are a lot more now. There is a lot of blossom on the apple trees, not in my garden but they overhang quite a way. Lovely apples but the trees are neglected so they tend to be a bit moth-eaten. Such a shame but I do use them, a lot I freeze down and use for pies or crumbles. I am going to get some hot milk and go to bed now. Hope you all have a good night and sleep well. God bless Love Kathleen |
