Hi, it's Sunday, so I'll be forgiven for being late in joining you all again. I cannot believe it, a thread I put on yesterday has reached page 8 today. I could be nasty and say somebody has pushed it back, but I won't! I don't know whether you have heard our news from the Netherlands, but we've a lot of trouble going on here at the moment. A well-known person was shot a couple of weeks ago. He said some nasty things about muslim Moroccans, but that is no reason to have shot him. Now gangs are busy burning mosques and churches, schools etc. The police are having to guard everything! Apparently here in The Netherlands it has been a breeding ground for fundamentalist muslim groups. Now they're going to clamp down on what is preached in mosques and schools! Why does religion have to be the reason for wars etc. Maybe it's better not to have a religion at all. In our family we are quite mixed up. I married a catholic and my brother a jewess and we were brought up Church of England. Our marriages are ok.

Hi, This had slipped quite a way down the board. Brenda: I hope that your toothache is better, or will be soon. Does that mean a visit to the dentist tomorrow? Tony usually brings my tea up here, and I still forget it and let it get cold!! June: Glad that you enjoyed your day out yesterday, sorry that you get cold and hope you are feeling warmer today. You had a long day, as, it seems did several others, Lou was very late getting home as she had train problems. I find it is best to only post answers to 'sensible' threads, I have decided not to join in any controversial ones, can't stand the aggravation of it. I also get fed up with the number of jokey threads and ignore those, don't bother with the Chatson story threads and get confused with the number of people who change their names, especially when I am away, There are some on there now that I haven't a clue who they are because they changed when I was on holiday. Di: What a lovely lazy day you had yesterday, I am sure it did you good to not do a lot. Hopefully Clay will drive sensibly if he is driving a motorhome, difficult to be a boy racer in one of those I would think! The sausage rolls sound as though they were a hit. I did a meal that we enjoyed last night, one I had not done before - a variation on stuffed marrow, a bit fiddly though. Of course you are a spring chicken, when my Mum was in her early 80s (she died when she was 85), she was very active and fit. She refused to join a Derby and Joan (as they were then called) club because they were full of old people!! Some of the recent threads have been very spiteful and pointless. But we will rise above them and ignore them. It can be very hurtful if you are so publicly picked on, especially if you feel there is no just cause. I don't think the perpetuators are mature enough to realise how hurtful it can be, they are so used to squabbling amongst themselves. Yes, reminiscing is fun, but I wouldn't like to go back to using all those remedies and to not having the medicines we have now. However, I have never been one for immediately giving my children antibiotics, I could count on one hand the number of times each child had them before they married. My daughter is the same with her children and adopts my attitude, "if you can't go to school/work you can't go out", and - as I used to say when they said they didn't feel well (providing I was sure it was nothing too serious), go to school and come home if you still feel poorly. They never did, I had 6th sense when they were 'swinging the lead'. (Where did that saying come from I wonder?) I too love the pageantry and 'pomp' in UK. London wouldn't be the same without it! Kathleen, I am keeping Susie in my thoughts, I hope she has the continuing courage to deal with this. let us know when she goes into hospital wont you, so we can offer extra thoughts and prayers. Les: it was a message from Di that told us that Kathleen's daughter has been diagnosed with breast cancer, thankfully in the early stages. Sylvia, I didn't know about the troubles in the Nederlands, whereabouts do you live actually? I don't think anyone can really push your thread down can they? have you sent it up again? Jude and anyone else looking in, hope all well with you. Jude looking forward to Tuesday, have you decided where to park? Tony suggested the Park and Ride would be best and cheapest. I had better go and do something productive now - sorted all my summer clothes away and winter clothes out this morning, after putting all my holiday clothes away from the airing cupboard! Best wishes Ann Glos

hello everyone, well it's Sunday evening again, where do the weekends go! Did some ironing this morning and visited my dad and afriend this afternoon. John and david are watching footbal at the moment and I will have to go and get the tea ready soon. Sorry about the troubles in the Nederlands sylvia, hope it does not escalate. June glad you had a nice day yesterday ,sorry the trains messed up for you. Kathleen ,you and your daughter will be in my prayers ,hope it is good news at the hospital. Di ,John ,David and I are all trying (again) to loose weight and your sausage rolls sound so mouth watering!!! Ann,I have not had as much trouble with my tooth today ,but it might start again when I eat my tea ,as it seems to be when I have eaten whenit flares up.I will phone the dentist if it starts agin, but even an emergancy can take two days to be seen. My apologies if I have missed anyone, the heating hasn't come on yet and it is getting chilly up here, plus teh tea will not get it's self on. Take care Brenda

It's me again. Yes Ann, I never read the jokes either, in fact there are very few which I read. I never miss Di's threads, and Andy can have some good ones too. I, too, won't be caught in an argument, just won't answer. It's so degrading. Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone, I'm late on here again.I did come on first thing and put the birthday messages on and then was talking on messenger with a couple of friends, then my back was aching with sitting on the side of the bed using my laptop so I decided to have a rest and come back later. Well I have come back but it is much later than intended. Samantha. my granddaughter came round this afternoon, she went in the loft for me looking for some photos that I have misplaced, she found one or two I had forgotten about but not the ones I really want. She also put some things up there that were in my way, we also had a trip to Asda, so its no wonder I didn't get back on. Tomorrow I think I will empty the big wardrobe and move my summer clothes onto the back rail at the same time I can see if the photo are in there. Although the first thing I want to do is see when they intend looking at my PC, if they are not getting on with it, I want it back, after all it is working and I miss chatting with you all, I'm sorry, my back is aching again so I will leave you and hope to see you on my PC tomorrow. Love June xx

Hello all - l will try and make this a quickie, need my bed and have to be up early. We had a brilliant weekend with daughter and her partner - picked them up from Newport Sat and drove straight to a monastry(can't remember where!!!) then onto a fantastic view, again can't remember where - good thing l was'nt lost!!!!!! Today we drove to Rhayader - pronounced Rayda in Mid Wales, Breacon Beacons area - to a farm that is a feeding station for THE RED KITES - oh my gawd, there were between 50 and 100,plus Buzzards, fantastic sight!!!!:o)))) 5 hides and another view point with binoculars set up, a shop etc - a nature trail as well. The farmer said that 1,000 Red Kites can be expected over the christmas period, might go again. They have started to rehabilitate injured ones now and the first one they helped was sitting in the middle of the Buzzards and Crows as bold as brass - they don't normally land, just swoop down grab food and swoop off again - but this one was abit cocky!! Mad dog is just gorgeous and now weedles himself onto the sofa every night - so we now have a blanket on there - TONIGHT HE and Fat cat fell asleep together, heads touching, amazing, took some photo's. We had a neighbour pop over a couple of times to make sure he could go out into the garden and feed them - she's 70 something but tough, needs to be cause Madoc goes potty when people come in and knocks them in all directions. The weather today has been gorgouse but very cold, the frost killed off some of my plants:o(((( Hair cut tomorrow - Gloucester Tuesday - chips and coffee on Wednesday with sister and the charity shop run!!!! l finished a drawing of a dog for my daughter - it took me about 4 months!!! she was pleased with it,so thats ok:o) So pleased you're staying Di - l tend not to reply to threads now when big discussions/arguement are going on, its all become so petty. This thread is so friendly and fun:o) Kathleen - we will be thinking of you and praying for your daughter.Positive thoughts.Take care. Sylvia - hope the troubles are calming down.More cooking, l so wish l lived in your house!!!!!! Oh yeh - l bought a fresh chicken in Waitrose on Thursday, dated for 15th tomorrow, put it straight into fridge, was going to cook it this morning and eat tomorrow - BUT IT was OFF, the smell!!!!! Took it back to Waitrose and they said it was the 2nd one this morning(it was our 3rd one this year!!), they gave us double the price back and have already put in an inquiry to suppliers. Hello Brenda,June,Lesley,Lou,Marly -where are u? Fred - u ok? Elisabeth - u ok? and anyone l missed. Ann - see you Tuesday:o) Nite nite (not such a quickie as usual!!!) Jude sarf wales xx

Back again - cleaned the bathroom and dusted all rooms, Tony will do the floors when he comes in from golf. So now I can answer the last few posts. Di: Another lazy day - what a good idea to take the weekend off!! Wish I could persuade Tony to do that but if I decide to have a lazy day he soon gets bored, starts finding jobs to do and then I feel guilty so have to do something! Why do they change their names? It beats me! And some of the names are so childish -- well, say no more!! How sad that you are having to anticipate losing your little Kitty. But if she is suffering a loss of quality of life then it is her you will have to consider, I do feel for you as we get so attached to pets. Just think what a lovely life you have given her, that she would not have had if she had not found you. I do hope that John's check up goes well next month, anticipating it must be almost worse than going. Jude: Pleased to hear you had a good weekend with your daughter and partner. I have been trying to think where the monastery was - was it Tintern Abbey? And where the view was too, I assume it was in that area? We have been meaning to go to Rhayader for ages, but have not got there yet. it is a bit further for us of course for a day trip. We saw that farm on TV once and i would love to go. Maybe now you have been we will make it!! Yes the frost killed off th Dahlias and Impatiens (Busy Lizzies) on Sunday morning. Shame the B Lizzies were a lovely dark red and had done really well. Still got some hardy geraiums flowering though so still some flowers in the garden. Have you decided where to park tomorrow? Iff I were you i would be very wary of buying Fresh chickens in that Waitrose, they obviously have a dodgy or careless supplier! Yes, as you noted by asking where all the rest were there are only a few of us on here at the moment. I suppose I had better get on, have to pop round the shops and get the paper, that makes me get out and walk instead of sitting on here all day. Then i had better get on and make some more Christmas cards. See you tomorrow 12.30 Jude, looking forward to a natter. Ann Glos

Good afternon everyone,Well it is grey and miserable here today but it is at least dry.,even if freezing. Everyone sounds really chirppy today ,sorrry about your cat Di ,know how you feel when one of my previous cats was ill something told me she could not go on but at first I was to selfish to see this,in the end I had to let her go and I think she knew what was going to happen, even the dog we had at the time was not as bossy with her.My thoughts will be with you. June hope your pc is sorted soon,I know my freind has just spent almost two weeks nearly going crazy til hers was repaired. Jude ,you must tell us if you put Madocs and fat cats photo on the site. They sound brilliant ,why not write a book about them. Have just seen the time and have to go ,I am seeing my uncle this afternoon to show him some things I have found out and give him a restored photo of my gran, his mother. Speak to you in the morning ,my apologies to anyone I have not mentioned.take care Brenda

Monday again. I've been very busy all day, and do you know what - yes, I couldn't resist putting some Christmas runners on the tables just like a little child, I cannot wait for Xmas. Even my husband is talking about Xmas, such as "Where did we have the tree last year"? Quite logical as the previous 6 years we've spent Xmas in Spain. I have been so busy dusting and cleaning. More to do as my granddaughter is in Spain. She arrived safely in Barcelona this morning - sent an SMS to her mother (my daughter). When she comes back next Saturday she is going directly to another dance party. I don't know how she does it. Her school work seems ok, an 8 for English and 7 for something else (tests). My husband has popped out for his hair cut. He usually comes home like a plucked chicken. The barber always cuts too much off for my liking, but it's cheap that way as he doesn't have to go so often. Just looked at the rest of the threads, but apart from Di's and Andy's, Ann's nothing worth adding to. Well must get some din dins ready for the plucked chicken. Love, Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone, Its a bit miserable today it keeps drizzling but it isn't really cold. Jude, I can tell you have had a lovely weekend the excitement is back in your writing. Brenda, I hope your toothache has gone, have you contacted the dentist? Sylvia. I'm out of touch. did your granddaughter find her passport and birth certificate? I hope she has a good time in Barcelona. You will miss her company and her help. Hope your husband's hair isn't too short with this cold weather. Di, I feel for you having to take the decision for you little kitty. it is sad after all the pleasure they have given, I'll be thinking of you. Ann,(Glos) You have a very helpful husband too, helping with the floors, I went wrong somewhere! I have just rung up the computer shop and he is looking at it at the moment, (I had decided that if he wasn't working on it, I was going to go and get it back), so hopefully I should have it back soon. I shouldn't moan really, after all I am lucky I still have my laptop to work on, its just that it isn't so comfortable sitting here for long periods. If I know it is going to be away for a while I would move my laptop downstairs. This afternoon, I have been with Gaynor to one of our local garden centres, they have all the Christmas decorations out, I could go mad, spending far too much, nut I restrained myself, I just bought a winter hanging basket. Its time to go and pick Samantha up from work so I will see you all tomorrow. Love June xx

Evening all!! (remember Dixon of Dock Green???) A very fresh day today, not so cold as yesterday fortunately!!! Been to dingy Newport today to the hairdressers, he cut it toooo short:o( Ann - probably Tesco's! The Monastery was'nt!!!! lol - it was an Abbey. It was Llanthony Abbey and the view was Hay Bluff .Hay-On-Wye was'nt that far from there, the town with all the book shops. We had lunch in the hotel bar at the Abbey - so quaint, only room for about 20 people and some of them were sitting on the stairs, archways and stairways. Dear little old lady doing the cooking:o) oh and horses in the field that are very friendly but lick you!!! well in fact they licked my camera - not really a good idea!!!! lol June - Yeh, l think you are right there, it helps to have daughter for the weeken, also Mad dog Madoc for company:o)) Good luck with puter. l just love garden centre's:o) Brenda - How lovely, the restored photo:o) Hows the toothache? Me write a book, l would'nt know where to start. Will try and get photo of the two on site before l go to bed. Di - Oh what can l say, apart from l know exactly what you are going through. We had this situation in March this year with our dear Smudge, she would have been 19 last April, so trusting, loving and sweet - but we knew we had too! l wish l was as good as my grandfather and my uncle - l wish, l wish, l wish - but my father and uncle both said l would never be an artist!!!:o((((( Have seen your England thread, might try and put something on there in the week. Sylvia - the barbers do the same thing to my hubbies hair so l cut it now, could do with a pair electric clippers to trim his neck, other wise it does'nt look too bad. Some of our neighbours like to have coffe and l sometimes help one change her duvet, she gets sooo puffed out bless her!!! and we have a couple who are very helpful with feeding the cat when we are away etc,but l don't have one that does my IRONING, oooo that would be so nice not to have to do it - mind you l mostly do it as and when we need it,which is frustrating, cause l moan at myself for having to do it in a hurry!!!!! Lou - how are you today and the family, are you rested after your visit to Wakefield?? Sorry if l have missed anyone. Nite nite - going to try and put Mad dog and Fat cat on photo site. Hi everyone Another dull drizzly day, but it is November. While I was having my my cuppa this morning, I had the TV on, and they said one of the tabloids had got photos of the autumn trees on front and back pages with the headlines, " one of the prettiest Autumns ever", I always think Autumn is pretty but I love spring also when you get the fresh looking greens. Sorry been interrupted will get back later Love June xx

As I can not find it ,it was not to be. We have another miserable day wet and grey and cold.Autumn seems to have ben short round here and we have gone straight to winter. Had to change the beding this morning as the cats had been out in the wet ,then came right up into the bedroom and walked their muddy paws allover the quilt. Going on work at 12.30 so need to have a bath etc before I go.Will be back tomorrow as I am on one of my days off. tooth ache almost not therenow did not need painkillers yesterday.Take care,Brenda

Hi all, Well Brenda, your tooth seems to be like mine. Just when I think I'll find time to go to the dentist it seems ok again. Brenda, you'll have to discipline those felines of yours. Cats like their comforts don't they. I've been to Amersfoort today and had a pedicure. Actually our pedicurist is a friend of ours and used to live closer, but anyway we usually combine this trip with something else. I managed to buy my photo frames to frame my cross stitch work "All our Yesteryears". I've not decided yet where I (or my husband) will hang these pictures. Walls are getting a bit crowded! Here too it is a grey miserable day, just the day not to go out! I've made a lovely oven dish, so that I don't have to jump up and down and see if the pans are boiling. The last pan I burnt I managed to get my husband to clean, but he's not too keen on that sort of job. Have a nice evening everybody. Love, Sylvia xxx

Hi all - l met up with Ann today in Gloucester, she came across me asking an assistant where the restaurant was - dowww it was about 10yds from me - l did'nt look properly. We had tea and sarnies and a good old natter, then Ann showed me a good stationary shop, l needed some printer ink!!! and off we went our seperate ways - oh firstly Ann showed me where my bus stop was. On the way in l missed a turning on a round about,so had to go up the dual carriageway and back - found the park and ride:o) Very nice chat Ann thank you:o) Its the chips, coffee and charity shop run tomorrow with me sister:o) Daughter phoned today to say her hernia is a hernia !!!!- bless her she's been really worried about it,she gets a very bloated stomach sometimes and this irritates the hernia, she was beginning to thinkshe had cancer or something else nasty - but this morning she had a hospital appointent and they confirmed it is a hernia - she's booked her op for March 2005, so not too long to wait. Brenda - some years ago council workers had painted an old wall along our back garden with that burglary paint, its dark green and greasy, really messy - one of my cats, Bounce l think (we called him that cause he had 3 legs) climbed the wall got covered in the messy stuff and then made a nice bed on my bed - ruined the quilt cover!!! Sylvia - you're always out and about, good for you, you're more active than l am (think l am getting lazy now!!) Hi everyone else, where are you all???? Fred you ok???? Jude sarf wales xx

Jude you and Ann are lucky you are near enough to be able to meet for lunch, now that you know whereabouts you are driving, you will be able to do it again. Sylvia, You must have plenty of energy to be out and about all the time. Brenda why is it that pets go on the bed when you have clean bedlinen on? They never seem to go with dirty paws when the duvet has been on a day or two. It has gone quiet again this last couple of days, they must all be out Christmas shopping. I'll see you tomorrow, hopefully with some news of my PC. Love June xx
