Brenda Report 30 Aug 2004 15:34

Hello Everyone, Christine, last night I started to do some research and as usual got carried away, but think it might have been in vain,as I think I have been lead up the garden path with some information on the 1871 census.Thats why I was up late ,I just popped on the messages boards and saw one had been added to Bills OZ and NZ Thread so being nosey, I had a look and it was Bill, so I sent a reply and he was saying he had inadvertantly deleted his Friends and Neighbours thread.I did not really understand what he had done (My excuse was the time of night!!!) Later I looked on and saw a new message and realized what Bill meant.l then left this one for the regulars. June, yes my sister should have come down today but I have had a phone call to say she had been in touch with her friend who had got the arrangements mixed up,and they are not coming today, they might come Thursday evening.I am still trying to fix things myself.Glad you got a bag for the camera, and sorted out your trousers. Hope your foot is better Slyvia. Lou sorry I wasn't around long last nigh the phone call was from my sister about coming down. Elisabeth hope the weather stays good so you can sort the garden out. Any one else who I have not mentioned my apologies. I hope this thread will be as successfull as the original ,giving you an oasis in the very busy ,hectic lives we all have. Brenda PS Bill this is still very much your idea,so thanks again.

Hi Brenda, June, Christine, Bill, and Di if you are looking in. My toe is feeling a lot better. I hope the doctor thinks so too. I have to see her on Wednesday. After a lovely weekend of sunshine, we've had rain all day. I haven't done too much today, still tired from having guests yesterday, must be my age!! I don't really feel like doing any work - I have gone on strike I think. I always feel like this before a holiday. Only do the last minute washing and ironing. The weather has turned so cold here. It was only a couple of weeks ago that it was too hot. We're never satisfied are we. Fancy Bill deleting his thread. We were getting rather big though, weren't we? 3 more days. I will be going away on Friday. My hairdresser will be here at 9.00 am, and then we are driving down to Eindhoven, where we're staying with my daughter and her partner. Then Saturday Henk will drive us down to Calais and we catch the boat around midday. We should be in Banbury somewhere around 3.00 pm. I told my husband that we'd have to visit a supermarket before we go to our cottage and he nearly had kittens on the spot. He knows what my daughter and I are like when we get near shops! He loathes shopping! He won't moan when Henk is around though. Not much news, but we must keep the thread going. Love Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone, Having a bit of a lazy day today - have spent most the morning trying to find NZ records for someone in England. Painters are still here - husband keeps on finding something else for them to do. Got to pick up Erika from Kindy as son-in-law has to have a scan of his knee today. He plays rugby league and I think he's wrecked his cartlidge. Must get myself moving - don't seem to have done any exercise for a long time. Think it was June - you can touch your toes - well done - I haven't been able to do that for years!

When we got back to ours my son was waiting as a surprise - oh my word, more tears!!!!!! Day before the wedding we all drove up to Birmingham, 7 in one vehicle and 4 in another - all beaming with excitement!!!! Thats it for now, have to go,will do 2nd installment abit later!!:o) Jude sarf wales

hello everyone,Nice to see you here Jude, the wedding sounds very emotional and very interesting!! do tell us more. Have been back to the hospital today for the results of some test I had in FEBRUARY,one appointment was cancelled in May,anyway they agree I have a balance problem, but they can not say why,so now I have to have a scan on my head to see what that shows. It can not be too serious for them to wait until now to tell me. The weather is sunnish with big grey clouds hanging about, have just put some bedding on the line so hope it stays like that till the bedding is dry. June ,I will be taking the camera on holiday but will have to get another memory card as there are a lot of pictures on the one I have ,that I can not take off ,I did go to the Kodak machine thing but it said there was nothing to read, but they are there when I recall them on the camera. Keep having a go to see what is wrong,I expect it is something very simple that I have not done , Take care Brenda

Ok l'm back: Part 2:- We arrived at the hotel Friday about 5pm - met the bride and her mum - they were adding the last touches to the tables - oh just beautiful, all fairy tale glittering things, the two of them had worked so hard during the last yr to get everything just so.On the table were Tiny top hats in sliver for the men with a raffle ticket inside - my nephew won a bottle of whisky!!!For the ladies a silver glittering drawstring bag holding a clear scented T light. The menu was in a scroll tide up with purple ribbon!!!:o) same colour as bridesmaids!:o) Early evening the men left the hotel to meet up with our son and friends in Halesowen for a last drink as a single man - this included the bestman and ushers!!!! (The bestman and partner were staying at brides house for the night ). At some awful time during the evening the best man and groom had a discussion about who the bestmans partner was having in the car to the church - this sadly developed into an arguement, which nearly developed into a fight - 5 men had to grab the bestman!!! This most of us knew nothing about until about 1am. Next morning: - the bestman was asked to leave brides house the night before (as you can imagine) so stayed at hotel. He phoned son and they talked for an hour, then met up. Son decided he could'nt rely on bestman not causeing another scene so he asked him to leave - which he did and went back to Sx. One of the ushers took his place and from that moment on it was a FAIRY TALE WEDDING. it was meant to be!!!!:o))))) Stage 3 tomorrow - could include Jude getting rather tipsy!!!!! Cheers - jude sarf wales x

Hi all, Gosh what a lot of letters today. Keep up the good work. My letter will seem rather uninteresting after the wedding story, but here goes. How nice June that you went to see Gaynor. After two days of sunshine we had some rain today, but I didn't have to go out so didn't mind. I paid two social calls on my neighbours here in our block of flats. One has a house in Hungary and is going there this weekend, but she's not very well and her husband is also not so good, but still determined to drive there.I had a few glasses of a Hungarian liqueur, so stayed longer than I'd planned. Fortunately I had visited the other neighbour before to arrange our little outing tomorrow. Tomorrow I have to return to the doctor to let her see my toe and after that my neighbour and I are going into town shopping. There is also a market on on Wednesdays. I hope it doesn't rain. It is horribly cold here and I feel as if I ought to put the heating on, but end of August is a bit early isn't it? A pinch and a punch the first of the month tomorrow - yes, September. Where did the summer go? Have a nice evening, until tomorrow, love, Sylvia xxx

June - thank you, nice to be here:o) They have been friends for about ooo l think 4 years!!!! through football - long enough to have known better, but both stubborn:o( in this instance son was not to blame. Where was l - bestman has gone new one installed - it was as if it was meant to be, l had had concerns for ages and could'nt put my finger on them, then whoosh new bestman, new groom, new bride, new brides mother, new me!!!:o) Anyway the wedding went off without a hitch until the early hours - tell you about that in a mo!:o(. As Daniel was about to do the repeat after me bit, he turned and winked, oh my gawd how l did'nt howl l'll never know. One of the guest saw me,she said later "Jude everytime l looked at you,you were crying" - "tears of happiness" said l. As the bride walked up the aisle Daniel just stood there, oh bless l can see him now - a grin so wide and eyes sparkling and he gave a little nod.The bridesmaid - oh we can't forget them, our daughter was one, so stunning - they were all in purple dresses, well the tops were seperate and they had glittering drops delicatly cascading from the the top edge(will try and put a piccie on MSN GC/GR photo site. The reception was just brilliant, me sitting between hubby and son, both so tall with pride. His bride is a dream of a girl, so bouncy, bubbly, loving, caring and nosey lol lol!!!!!! she knows everything thats going on, does'nt miss a thing - except the arrangements being made for her surprise hen night with the stripper!!! The background music was Peruvian pipe music, its a wounder l did'nt start crying then, l always do when l see them in the street!!! The food delicious the wine magnifico. Because the first bestman had gone it left 2 spaces, so the son of old neighbours and partner were able to join us, which was lovely. Speeches were yes you've got it "lovely". First was by brides brother as her father had died only a few months earlier - lots of chat about their father and more tears!!! Next was by Daniel, he got abit emotional and could'nt finish, but managed to later. The evening celebrations well!!!!!! l can't remember enjoying myself more - yep l got well tiddled, felt rough in the morning but not for long and well worth it anyway:o) l danced all evening, chatted to people l had'nt seen in ages. One of the guests don't know his name was/is a fantastic dancer so every time he was on dance floor l tried to get everyone there to watch - Daniel is also fantastic dancer and managed to get them dancing together few times - you know the sort of thing, everyone in a circle clapping. Daniel also sang an Oasis song, he had nearly everyone in tears and EVERYONE CLAPPING. l videod lots of this, but not had time to look at it yet - probably a blurrrr anyway. Round about midnight we were all in the gardens singing "Hey Jude" at the top of our voices, so loud we were asked to go in cause of the neighbours :o( sorry neighbours! We just carried on singing indoors:o) We went off to bed about l.30 - l was just about to get into bed when hubby said "there's a fire engine outside", oh gorden bennet you can imagine, l'm in me nighty, very tiddly and saying to myself "fire engine"!!!! well l looked out of the window and said "you plonker thats a red coach", so back to bed we went! Next morning the staff are all going on about the fire in the night and l can smell the awful fumes - THE FIRE had been in the laundrette, a tumble dryer had been left on. The fumes and smoke ruined the cake which had been in the kitchens next door and smoked out the bedrooms above. Fortunately no one was hurt and they should be compensated for the cake - which cost approx £400.There could be more issues to deal with as well, but l think they are waiting for the time being!!!! The happy couple are now in Sri Lanka having the time of their lives and a well earned rest. They have been to an Elephant orphanage, seen real wild Elephants,Tigers,Leopards and Monkeys - as l said before somewhere - l get text messages and phone calls and loads of love from them all the time. So endeth the wedding saga:o) Jude sarf wales xx

Hey Jude,to coin the phrase ,what a brilliant wedding sounds like we missed "a real good do." I bet you are still in happy mode from it all. June I have a kodak cx6200 camera, which up to know has been great,it is the transferring to the pc that is the problem, plus the Kodak programme on the pc will not let me print any of the exsisting pictures,i get a message saying the file has been removed or renamed. I have gone back and done system restores etc but it is still the same. I have a feeling that when we have done avirus sweep with the virus thingy we have had a virus in there and it has been quarentined. But I did take the memory card to the kodak machine to print the photos off there and it kept saying that there was nothing on it.If it is put into the camera again it shows the pictures,So I am stumped!!. The weather stayed good and I got all my washing dry, Must get to bed now ,see you all tomorrow, sorry if I didn't get round to you.Take care,Brenda

Morning all - just finishing my 2nd cup of coffee and then l MUST get showered and out to the post office. Still have'nt got all the bedrooms back to normal - spend too much time on here being nosey. l will ring the dog warden later to see if there owners got in touch!!!!! in fact l will do that now hold on - Right, well the owners have contacted the kennels, this is'nt the first time apparently - but whether they will be collecting them or not they don't know - its costing them money everyday they are left and sometimes owners decide its TOO expensive - so far £60 per dog. They will be re-homed if not re-claimed - bless them, they were both such lovely dogs:o(((( Jude sarf wales (gone off now to have another weep)

Can I be a friend or a neighbour too please? Jude, lovely account of the wedding, I hope you have printed it out to keep with the photos to remind you when you are old and grey of the wonderful time you all had. It has been a bit hectic here lately, first we had daughter in law plus the two grandchildren (we call them the littlies because they are the 2 youngest gdchildren) for the weekend (Thursday to Monday), then we went to Paris for he weekend to celebrate our 44th anniversary. We flew out from Birmingham Thursday lunch time and got home Saturday lunch time. Friday, our 44th anniversary, the weather was glorious and we walked miles. Walked to the Seine from our hotel, then, starting at the Louvre we caught the Batobus (Boat bus) around the seine visiting various locations, we had a day ticket which meant we could get on and off as we liked. Our first and main stop was to the Musee d'Orsay. We had lunch there and spent a long time looking at the paintings we liked. Of course nobody likes them all, I am not keen on Renoir and they have quite a few of those, but I love Monet and the impressionists, and also some of the post Impression paintings. They have a whole room of Monet so I was in my element. we had been before but we still enjoyed it. From the viewing terrace we could see Sacre Coeur very clearly shining in the sunshine. There were also two special exhibitions, one of Jongkind, a Dutch painter who I had not heard of, we liked some of his but not others. other places we visited to look at but not go in were the Eiffel Tower, I always think it is best viewed from the Trocadero, and you can also see Les Invalides from there, and Notre Dame where we walked along the street market and admired the basilica from outside (needless to say it had some scaffolding up!) and soaked up the atmosphere. Our last visit was to place de Concorde before walking back to our hotel via Rue Madeleine with all the expensive shops to look at. In the evening we went to a very pleasant Chinese restaurant for a lovely meal. We really enjoyed our break. When we got home our daughter and family (the 3 older grandchildren and hubby) were already here for bank Holiday weekend. On Sunday we went for a 6 mile walk from Crickley Hill in Gloucester, wonderful views over gloucester to the Malverns and to Cleeve hill. it did rain a bit but we didn't get too wet. Jon and boys went home Monday and Lynda has stayed until tomorrow as she is working in Bristol for a couple of days. Thenw e are expecting friends on saturday for the weekend, and we go to Tenerife next friday for 2 weeks. See what I mean by chaos/ but I have still found time to get on here:)) Ann Glos

Hi everyone, I'm a bit later than usual today, I had to take my daughter to the doctor's again, the mosquito bite seems to have cleared up but she still isn't well, the doctor thinks she may have a kidney infection so he is doing more tests. Ann, its lovely to have you on board, you are having a hectic time, lucky you! It sounds as though you enjoyed Paris, I love it, but I still haven't been to the Palace of Versaille, which I would love to do next time. Then to have your family around, what a way to celebrate you wedding anniversary. Then you are off to Teneriffe, I hope you have a good time. Jude, I hope those dogs are claimed or at least found a good home, I worry so much about dogs that are just left. Brenda, The reason I was asking what make your camera is, I thought I may be able to help, but it isn't the same make as mine. I take it that when you first got your camera, there was a CD that you ran before you could transfer the pictures to your PC. I would be inclined to uninstall that and then start again by running the CD as you did at first. I'm certainly no expert but this is what I did when something went wrong with one of my devices. Anyway, see what your sister comes up with first. I hope its sorted soon though. I'm now off to do some washing, cant let this lovely sunshine go to waste. See you tomorrow. Love June xx
