From what I have read,I see everyone is so positive in the fact that this is a good site for many reasons so I hope we all will continue to enjoy being on it! |

I found this site through friends a year ago and thought it would be nice to put a tree together for my grandchildren, I have since found out so much about my ancesors through conections made on here, through the internet and from phoning and writing to relatives, I now have quite a few names and also have my tree on legacy genopro and tribalpages where I have over 200 photos trying to put faces to names. jenny x |

Hi Fee B, I joined because I wanted to take advantage of a meeting room where we all have the opportunity to pool our research. I have seen the site grow on a daily basis until now it can stand as proudly as any other UK Genealogy Site. The current Board Structure has been designed to respond to the perceived wants of the Members. The success board stands alone as a place to express your joy at finding rellies. The Records Office Board and the Tips Boards being the main ones devoted to Genealogy. It is when I see arguments start on these Boards that offends me. The other Boards I enjoy as a diversion, for a little light entertainment. These Boards are both really just for chatter so I sometimes spend a while with you when I am at a loose end. So I find that, when the arguments start I generally just let them get on with it because those two Boards are not at the heart of my Membership of GC. Jim |

Like dorothy i wandered on here via FR, i enjoy the searching but when i get frustrated with brick walls it's good to have a little light hearted banter, but more than that i felt priveliged to meet so to speak, when i was in termoil, so many wonderful warm hearted compassionate and understanding people. A bit like anti virus i filter out the aggresive stuff don't need it. David |

My first thoughts about joining were not for researching family history, but for contacting old school friends, which proved quite rewarding. The family tree side of it came later, which was also very , very interesting, and from there came the `general topics` `chat`and the rest. On the whole, I`ve thoroughly enjoyed the whole site, and shall remain to do so. Barry |

I joined in Feb last year because I was seriously researching my husbands family as a surprise for my mother-in-law who was approaching 90 - through this site I have contacted relations in this country and overseas and been helped by numerous fantastic people - I work fulltime and have only 2 hours a night to research. When I joined everything was 'sweetness and light' but over the last few months arguments have developed and people have fallen out - lets get back to basics - we are all looking to the past - we all want trace our families - warts and all - this is what the site was founded for - whats the problem???? Lets be happy - emails are the easiest way to fall out - only by looking into a persons eyes can we truely know their meaning |

Yes, good question, why did I join the site. I was already busy with my tree and thought maybe I could get further using this site. Have had more help from the site in Finland, but that's because I have had a good help from a family member there. Yes, of course we on this site will not always agree with each other, why should we? We are all individuals. What we don't want is a slanging match calling each other names. Keep it pleasant. We've lost quite a few members because of the nastiness on the site. We don't want to lose any more. Greetings, Sylvia |

I have observed alot over the past couple of weeks here on G C and decided not to to comment or participate on all that has gone on because it has all became too personal. I joined GC to track down my late paternal grandfathers family which I unfortunately have been unable to do,however, along the way,I have made some friends, had a moan, had a laugh and joined in on a few debates.I do join in because its a wee hobby for me and I enjoy it.Hows about lightening the atmosphere, concentrating on the reason you joined the site and having a fair and open board to post your thoughts on just like before?People will clash occasionally, its life! Comments please. |
