Sue Lambrini Smith Report 21 Sep 2004 23:48

hi all. i think many will be coming by train. wouldnt it be better to try and find somewhere near to the event ? will do a reckie on saturday, surely somewhere nearby could accomadate us. we need to find out how many are going. the 2 threads do seem to be causing problems. could it be arranged to delete them both and start afresh ? get an idea of numbers, and go from there ? normanton is a fair way out, i am sure there will be somewhere in wakefield. sue.

Hi I checked with Bull's Head but they already have a big group booked in and can't accommodate another group. I think either Brewsters or Walnut Tree would be best bet, or there is a Wetherby Whaler restaurant (fish & chips) nearby which my parents say is really nice. I'll check it's opening hours. Unless anyone has any other ideas..........

The Wetherby Whaler is on the Denby Dale Road next door to Brewsters,- and you would need to get a bus from town to it . a 443 is every half hour on a saturday - The Walnut tree is on the Barnsley road - near Asda , Sandal - 110 service will suffice. aaaaaaargh and the Cedar Court - lovely - but VERY pricey failing anywhere else - we could always go to Asda lol Th Cathederal High School is between Thornes and Lupset.

Hi Joanne/Sue Smith in WY I have just rung the ADMIRAL DUNCAN on THORNES LANE they do food on fri/sat lunch but seemingly they have only a small area for tables for lunch.I am going to ring the landlady tomorrow lunch time to see how many people she can accomodate for lunch on the 13th. Will let you all know tomorrow night. The barmaid suggested HOLMEFIELD ARMS IN HOLME PARK anyone of you know this pub or could someone get the phone number and ring them to see if they can accommodate a group for lunch/dinner on the 13th.Please pretty please. Sue

well maggy - for the funeral in featherstone we had to park in the kwik save car park then the lovely lady vicar had to get someone to go out and ask the chap using the pneumatic drill to stop for a wee while lol - its a bigger wee place that I thought lol and then we went to Pontefract Crem - I noticed there was a bus stop just outside it - handy that .

Right lovely ladies (and gents!) I've made a booking for us at Brewsters on Calder Island for 1pm on the 13th. They don't usually take bookings for a weekend but as it's lunch rather than dinner they've made an exception. For those who don't have their own transport DO NOT WORRY! Brewsters is only a few mins from Cathedral school by car so I have no problems doing a few runs back and forth to get you all there. It's my pleasure to help. So we could all meet at the school for 10.30 and have a couple of hours there before moving on. If anyone needs a lift from the train station let me know and I can do a pickup from there. This is all exciting! The names I have so far are Me! Sue Smith in WY Sue Dale in Normanton Russell (tracing my family history) Helen Proctor in Normanton Susan from Otley Sheila Wray Lou from Leicestershire Brenda Mills in Oldham Jenny in Tynemouth Keith Red Devil Which makes 11 so far. I've made the booking for 20 and told them I will confirm the final number nearer the time. They only need to know a week in advance for staffing levels and table arrangement etc. Hope this is satisfactory to you all. If your name isn't on the above list let me know so I can keep an up to date list of names. And those needing transport from Train Station to Cathedral School and from Cathedral School to Brewsters let me know (also let me know if you are able to help with transport too.) Joanne
