hi all, i'm doing a 60km walk in september in aid of Breakthroughbreastcancer, i need to raise £1,500 before i even begin the walk, at the moment i'm finding it a hard task, so i'm looking to you wonderful supportive people on GR to help me prommote and support my challenge. On July 16th I'm taking part in the Cancer Research UK bike ride in Milton Keynes, which is part of their 'get on your bike' campaign. It's a 12 mile cycle ride, which should be reasonably challenging for me, as I haven't ridden a bike for a few years, and not regularly since I was at school. Next weekend, my son and some of his friends are hoping to complete the 3 Peaks Challenge. This entails climbing the 3 highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland in 24 hours. They have chosen a cancer charity to benefit from their efforts. I hope it's not too hot , but being a firefighter he'll be used to that. They do lovely Xmas cards too I have my own thoughts about the war in Iraq but I feel so much how the kids, when they come home, are just left to come to terms with what theyve seen. I would like to say a big thank you to all who have responded to this thread. I have had some donations which is great!! Still a long way to go to reach the target but not as far as yesterday!! Thank you, Jacky :-))) Just a reminder: My daughter Liz and I will be doing the Aviva Weekend Breakthrough to Cancer weekend walk of 60K (38 miles) in September. We have to raise £1500 each. It is for Breast Cancer research and we desperately need donations, not sponsors as we have to have the money before we are allowed to walk! Have a look at my page on the Aviva weekend site. Continuted in next message... Some of you will already know that my daughter, Jacqui, was diagnosed with a brain tumour last month. Fortunately, she is now on the road to recovery. Well, I have been watching the BBC1 prograamme, Race for Glory recently and I was so inspired by the people who took part, that I decided to have a go myself. They managed 26.2 miles; for the Race for Life, I only need do do 5km (just over 2 miles). I am almost 56 and a little (yeah, who am I kidding!) overweight. I am totally unfit for this run but I am determined to do it for my daughter, (who hopefully is now on the road to recovery) and also for my dad, Gerard Ford, who died of bowel cancer in 1997aged 71. So, what I am asking is for sponsorship for me to do the Race for Life. I hope to complete the 5km race, either running (not much chance!) or walking. There is a way of sponsoring online if people wish to use this method. If you would like to sponsor me, please send me a PM and I will give you the web addy. Diana, as much as that? I thought around £3,400. was hoping final total could be around £4,000. I will post on relay thread asking if address's could be put on back of cheques and add that only you and I have access to the address's of course. Jenny x

Off the top of my head it's nearly £4,000 - not all donations can claim the giftaid as I don't have all the addresses and not sure if all are tax payers! xx
