Hi JAn you sound lonely, everyone must be busy looking for spring. I had a busy and worrying day yesterday, we had had lots of heavy snow on Tuesday, my 83 year old friend decided he would clear his driveway, I had told him to wait and I would bring my snow blower over and do it, but he goes out and starts doing the shoveling, next tthing he phones me he has chest pain, anyway to cut a long story short i took him to the hospital and he had had a mild heart attack, they have kept him in hospital overnight and I am now off to see what they are going to do, they say if he has no more pain and his tests are O.K. they may let him home today, I think I will make him stay at my house for a few days, he is very independant so it may be a fight, but we will see. Julian is the last person anyone would have thought would have a heart attack, he watches his weight, if he gains a pound he will work to get it off, he takes no medication for anything, no cholestrol problem, he has his own little Gym in the lower level of his house, and uses it everyday. Anyway he should have waited to clear the driveway as it has warmed up and rained so it would have melted by today anyway. Last night when it first started to rain it was more like ice as it was still cold and everywhere looked like ice scultures , my van looked like it had just come out of the freezer for a couple of hours. Well off to the hospital take care everyone. Marg

Hi Daughter. I am here, well the body is not sure about the mind. LOL. Now who has been singing again ?? The weather is right duff. Black as your hat and cold with it. Percy will not be in the garden this weather, unless he has a bonfire going. Any news about the big day yet ???? Now all of us girls are going to buy new brooms to make an arch for you and Percy to walk under when you have both said ( I DO.) Still not had any replies to who is going to sing or play a musical instrument. I think Brenda wants to play the board, not sure what they call it But Rolf Harris plays one. Dont think she has enough puff to blow the diggery do thing not sure if I have spelt that correct. All for now catch you later. Love Mom.

Evening Everyone, +guess you Brits are all in beds already, its 7-30pm here so 2-30am there. June sorry to hear you have to have an op, since I went to the Docs and he said I might need a knee replacement suddenly my knee dosnt feel so bad, or it just may have something to do with the weather ( I always thought this was all in OLD peoples heads when I was younger) but even though it snow steady all day it has warmed up about 20 degrees so maybe there is something in the weather. How long will you have to wait for the op, is it as bad there to get in Hospital,? it can take up to a year if it is not life threatening. In Canada it is supposed to be illegal to pay for private medical services. Well must go like John I have to go cook the books, I am Tres.of our Residential Strata and am helping the Bookeeper set up new books. Well by for now. Take care everyone MArg.

John Report 18 Jan 2005 00:51

Hi All you Brummies! June, don't worry about your op's, You'll feel like a new woman after a few weeks. I used to waddle like a duck, so had my hip replaced 16th August 1995 (it's on the way out again now)! ;-(((((((} Your Keith is a sensible fella by what you say - does Tai Chi eh! - and yes I do topple over when I have to stand on one leg lol. Faith, yes I had a big breakfast on Sunday (as I do every day except Mondays - Tai Chi early morning stops that). I had a rotten day Sunday, I was "cooking the books" because I'm the treasurer of the local U3A, and our financial year ended 31st December 8-((((((} I wish you were her, sorry I meant here, you could have shared a nice glass of Caintreau on ice with me (it's about the only thing French that I like) lol. How nice to see young James back, keep up with the progress towards full health and remember that it isn't only bowl movements that should be regular - visits to this thread should be too! (regular I mean) rotflol. NEWS FLASH................ There must, for instance, be something very strange in a man who, if left alone in a room with a tea cosy, doesn't try it on. (Glasgow Evening News) A young girl who was blown out to sea on a set of inflatable teeth was rescued by a man on an inflatable lobster. A coastguard spokesman commented, "This sort of thing is all too common". (The Times) Tarrarabit - John xxxxxx

A promise made is a promise kept. I said I would be back to-day and , against my better judgement, here I am. Still feeling under the weather. Mind you I was warned when they diagnosed COPD that if I caught a cold it would take some time to get better and if I had not had my Flu and Pneumonia Jabs I could well end up in hospital on a respirator. I ain't and I ain't going to be either. I have read most of the messages on the thread and I note that a certian Percy is pruning his roses. A bit risky that mate, frost can kill early growth which is not good news for flowers. My gardener will not touch mine until the frosts have cleared. A good deterrant for green fly is a lavender bush planted near to your roses. Welcome to all you newcomers, we are always glad to get new people to talk to. Not quite up to form as yet but here is a song that keeps running through my head, maybe this will move it for me. Some may know it others maybe not, it is an old Victorian song , sung I believe by Vesta Tilly Shes only a bird in a gilded cage A beautiful site to see. You may think she is happy and free from care Shes not though she seems to be. Tis sad when you think of her wasted life But youth cannot mate with age. For her beauty was sold For an old mans gold Shes just a bird in a gilded cage Well Sorry folks the screen keeps going blurred ,so I will have to close. Many thanks for all your concern, but you can't keep a Brummie down too long. LLOL to you all from Convalescent Jim and His ever Suffering Wife Mary C.
