Hello can anyone help me please? I have decided to place a do you know add in a Birmingham paper. Which paper would be best? I have been trying to find my fathers sister she most likely would be dead by now. But she married and I remember a son. Trouble is I remember her as Aunty Dorothy I could be wrong. I cannot place her married name. My father Leslie Oakley died 1978. So after going through lots of names and years and getting now where. I thought I would try this I am in Australia, so all would be on line. Anyway it is 4.10pm here so I am off to weed and tidy garden , then put the decorations up. With a bit of luck relatives and friends in Uk will get a xmas card before xmas. We will be at my daughters for xmas day it will be very hot and the kids and adults will be in the pool. I as usual will take the turkey. When it was suggested last year to have everything cold what a horrified look came on my son in law and my son. We still have lots of cold food but with aircondioning we love the xmas turkey. My granddaughters saw snow when they were in Scotland recently. My son and daughter were born over here, and they saw snow march 82 when we came for a visit unfortunately both my parents were deadby then. I still think of xmas day looking out on the only print on the snow is liitle bird prints. Must go my daughter is trying to get a baby Bandicoot out of the house. They are the most cute little things like a large hump rat. In the Mundaring area there a lots in the gardens especially where there is dense shrubs. They are native animals to Western Australia no trouble. Cats are the pest chase them and sometimes they fall in the pool and cannot get out. I was watering my friends garden when they were away. So at dusk I was driving there when a large Kangeroo bounced out of someones garden did a dance on the bonnet of my car and off to the national park. I will not tell you what I called it. Did a lot of damage. Regards Pam

Hello All, Jan & Rick glad to hear that your colds have gone. So you have a fairy on the top of your tree. You should take a photo of it, with this being your first Christmas together. I have just been having a little spend again. Had a Christmas catalogue yesterday from Thompson & Morgan, the flower and plant people. Had a look and found Plant Pets in Topiary, always wanted to have a go at this. So I ordered a HEN & a CAT. and while I was at it ordered 2 lovely nesting baskets for the birds plus a Jasmin plant love the perfume of these. So I have ordered them on the web. Pam, Hope you find what you are looking for, hope you will tell us. Poor Jim, Just had mail and he is still having trouble with our site, again he has done a letter, pressed Add Message and its gone again. To all hope you are all well and getting into the swing for the Christmas holidays. Tat Tar June xx

Hurrah!!! It's worked , so trusting my luck here we go again. Weather here warm for time of year. Out on scooter this morning to the local shopping mall. Thought I would get some info from the post office, but, the queue was as long as Livery Street so I didn't bother. I am sorry about all the missed messages, I have missed talking to you, but now I have not much to say. I wish all the Xmas hassle was over, everywhere is jam packed full, which makes it difficult to negotiate on my scooter. Wherever. I want to get there is someone with a trolley blocking the way and you would be surprised at the dirty looks I get when I say "Excuse me may I pass you please" Still it is nearly time for goodwill to all folk. Hope all of you are keeping your cool and not getting too frustrated. Rick did you put our Jan on top of the tree instead of the proper fairy?? I bet you will look very smart in your red suit. I feel quite flattered at being missed, I expected to have been thrown off the web by now. Just a little rhyme I have sorted out for you. I'm proud to be a Brummie I'm proud to be English Too, I like my recent Lordship And Mary likes the Ladyship Too. I'm am surprised at all Brummies Whose partners are like mine A fine Yorkshire Lass she is Who has stood the test of time. I like my Halifax girl I have had her for sixty years I am still trying to make her A Brummie, but she saya No Fears Yes I am proud to be a Brummie I'm glad I'm English Too But no matter what you say You can't beat an Irish Stew Had difficulty trying to rhyme Yorkshire Pudding, Mary makes that too. So In case it all goes pear shaped again I will say LLOL from Lord Jim Of Brum and Lady Mary of Halifax

Sorry I'm late. Christmas is coming I have just found out, so shopping has the priority at the moment. Chaos as uaual at the superstore. This is the part of Xmas I dislike, hiking round for presents, and, wondering if they will like them, never seem to find out for sure do you. Ah well! It's only once a year. I got a hotwater bottle for my sister in Australia, she is always complaining about the cold!!!!. Chrissy Where abouts in Halifax were you from? Mary, my wife was born in Cotton street but like a lot of other places it is no more. What we miss is the yummy tea cakes that you could buy on the market. They can't make them in Cheshire. Eh by gum as they say lifes a funny ow'd world these days. Jan It is nice to know somebody likes me, and misses me, I am a lonely sole really BOO HOO!! Real crockodile tears and all. Glad to be back. Lets hope I have no more trouble with the site. I hope Rick is behaving himself, any trouble, you know where to come. Mary was looking over my shoulder and wants to know who Jan is, I said a friend in need, and she said, in need of what. I didn't let on, our secret is safe. As it is late I must close now so for the time being I will say it's Bye from Your Jim and his Jealous Wife Mary C. LLLOOOLLL

Margaret Report 8 Dec 2004 16:37

Morning Everyone, Jan I am like you start out with good intentions to say a few words to everyone, then get carried away talking about something else and forget what I originally wanted to say,( is the the first stages of old age ? guess Im already there, got my old age pension last year) I try now to write notes as I read the thread as to who said what, but then still forget. Anyway Jan might have better luck with the string man, so start watching for one of those too. Dee you really are giving yourselfs a great Christmas present, think you have really kicked the habit. GREAT FOR YOU. Jim well have you any new verses or songs for us ? thought of you the other night, about 30 of us over the hill gang had a dinner at a local resturant , after the meal we started singing Christmas songs, a young women came over and asked if she could join us, she said she loved to sing but none of her friends her age ever sit and enjoy a good sing song, (think she had a few drinks ) came and gave us all hugs before she left, saw her the next day at the coffee shop (still feeling no pain) came and gave me more hugs said thank you for letting her join in. Guess there is still young people that will keep on singing our songs. Well its snowing very lightly and I am off for a three hour drive through the Rockies to Calgary, hope its not slippy. so will talk to everyone when I get back at the weekend. have a great day. Marg
