Karen and Jenny, you did make me laugh! Karen, just sent your joke to my sister, a Makem supporter--she was not amused! Magi--you have 250 kids?! Isn't that a world record?? I can't make either meet, Jenny, sorry--I am so sad to be missing out! I can't get up yem any other time but July or last week in August. Maybe we could have a little meet just for little me?? Ah'll tell yer wor Ah cannut stand--it's bliddy southerners doon here where Ah live tryin ter imitate me accent like, and then gannin 'I can do a really good Geordie accent!'! I did mention this on another thread so forgive me if you've heard it twice, but my little charge (I'm a nanny) made me so proud today--she told me 'when I grow up I want to be a Geordie'! I'm sure her posh southerner parents will be delighted--especially when they realise that I've taught her little 2 year old brother to say Howay man!'

This thread has made me very homesick too... I'm 3700 miles from Durham, how far away have the other ex-pat Geordies/Wearsiders wandered? All together now.... 'Ooohhh me lads, yer should a seen us ganning passin the folks along the rode just as they wer stannin aal the lads and lassies there aal had smilin faces ganning along the Scotswood roooode, t'see the Blaydon Races'! Anyone remember... 'Hush lads had yer gobs, I'll tell yer aal an ahful story, hush lads had yer gobs, I'll tell yer aboot the woorm.!' Oh, sweet memories, Brenda

Hello again. Great thread Peter. Sally Sand-Dancer has just reminded me about the Newcastle meet up in the early summer. I said I would organise it. Still willing to do so, with the help of Sally and hopefully a few others. . As there are a lot of Geordies scattered all about the country, I think the earlier the better to start it all off. So to just get an idea of the best month at first, will start the thread after posting this. July, apart from the first week is totally out for me I am afraid. Without going into too much detail. I am pretty sure I can get a few rooms that will hold four people, two double beds at a well known Hotel Company, at about £19 a night per room. Will tell you all later. Jenny.

Originally a geordie girl, now in Istanbul, my kids - all 250 of the little darlings speak English with just a hint of a Newcastle accent. Hubby is a huge NUFC fan (and has the T-shirt to prove it! lol )

Hi Sue, my Granda worked at Boldon colliery! In fact, most of the men in my family worked down the pits, and my 7 year old great nephew probably died in a major pit accident. His dad (my Great grandad) was a screener and was killed when he let go of the 'prop' he was winding to screen the coal--it ripped open his chest, killing him. Lovely story I know but just shows how hardy us Geordies are!

Howay the Geordies! And I thought I was the only one--apart from Jenny of course! I'm from South Shields, born and brought up on Grosvenor Road. Mam and Dad retired to the Lonnen. Used to go home (from Herts) to visit them. Knew I was home when i hit Leam Lane! I went to Harton comp, and a lot of my family roots stem from Harton village (suspect it wasn't quite so posh at the time!). Still got loads of family up there--mainly Gateshead and North Shields. Looking forward to coming up for the Tall Ships Race in July!

Hi Peter Im not a Geordie, but my dad comes from Stanley Co. Durham, which I know doesnt class him as a geordie, but as dad says there no place like Newcastle and misses the people and place even after 59 years. He also supports Newcastle United. Regards Yvonne
