Ok I'm back. I suggest those that are coming by train all meet at Central Station. It is only small compared to some I know. Directly across the road is The County Hotel. Hubbys mate has big contacts there. He is Area Manager of a Big Hotel Company now. He may be able to get us a private area or separate room. They serve meals there. Hubby will see his mate, on Friday night. Not too sure if the Brewsters Bar on the Quayside, is now Weatherspoons. If somene knows, let us know. Me and hubby are going into Newcastle on Sunday to suss places out and enquire what they can provide. Any one who needs B & B. Email me and I will see what I can do. Daughter works for a well known Group. Hubby can help with the transport from Newcastle to Sunderland on the Sunday. Jenny.

CB, It cost me £88 to purchase a Saver return from Darlington to Victoria. However, I purchased that on the day and I don't have any railcards. It's roughly 3hrs on the train from Kings X to Newcastle. Your best bet for checking ticket prices is to go to http://www.thetrainline*com (replace asterisk with dot). I've used their online service for buying tickets before. A lot may depend on how soon you can purchase a ticket, may be quite a bit cheaper if bought well in advance, who knows. Andy

I am considering driving up mid the week before and coming back mid the week after. This will give me time to visit the Durham and Stockton ROs and hopefully viisit some rellies. Hopefully B&Bs won't be too expensive.

Andy, Can you give me a rough guide to the cost of a ticket Kings X to Newcastle, please? Also how long is the journey time? CB >|<

Andy Report 14 Feb 2005 19:55

Trains (GNER) from Kings X go direct to Newcastle, and call at Peterborough, Doncaster, York, Darlington & Durham. Although you can get direct trains to Leeds from Kings X, it's not en route to Newcastle.
