nice to see this thread again! in-laws went to see Sound of Music at the Palladium last night with Connie Fisher - they said it was fantastic - they especially loved the children, some of them are tiny and it's amazing that they can remember all their lines and perform so well. Maz. XX

Sheila - no one did any throwing up, thank goodness! I have now seen a play at The Globe, and I would well recommend a visit to that theatre. There certainly is an authentic feel, and one can imagine sitting there, centuries before. Not 'treading in their footsteps', but 'sitting in their seats'! The wooden benches would be hard to sit on for over two hours, so cushions can be hired. It is one of the few theatres where I would say that the programme is good value. I saw Love's Labours Lost. It was well acted, although it could not be heard clearly when the actors were facing the other way; but that is as it would have been, hundreds of years beforehand. I would definitely recommend it.

Has anyone booked to see the new Joseph musical?

I haven't Joy, but friends have. By the way while I'm here my daughter went to see Dirty Dancing a couple of weeks back, she thought it was one of the best musicals she had ever seen. Well worth seeing she said.

I went to see Joseph last Friday. It was absolutely amazing, loved every minute. Lee Mead was fantastic, his singing was first class as was his acting, expressions and dance. The rest of the class were equally as good, particularly loved the brothers when they sang in harmony. I so want to go again!

TRADITIONAL circus on a grand scale with all the sophisticated trappings of a theatrical setting, Le Grand Cirque has arrived in Bournemouth direct from a sell-out tour of the USA. Although there is no denying the benefits of the usual big-top in-the-round setting of circuses that allow you to get up close to the death-defying antics of the performers, the grandeur, colour and spectacle of this incredibly visual production lent itself well to the Windsor Hall.The show has brought together 50 world champion acrobats and performers from 15 countries including China, Russia and Monte Carlo resulting in a magnificent, magical melting pot of spell-binding entertainment. Modernistic sets see gleaming metal structures replacing the traditional canvas, poles and sawdust.Highly imaginative costumes and beautiful lighting help portray themes running through the show, inspired by the natural elements or earth, wind, rain and fire, enthused with the four seasons. It is all set to recorded classical pop music ranging from Bolero to the Blue Danube which means that every movement is choreographed and timed to split second perfection and the action relentlessly moves forward keeping you almost constantly enthralled. Probably my favourite addition to this show is the use of the white tailcoat and top hat-wearing master of ceremonies who doubles as both ring- master and clown and yet communicates with us only by mime, creating great hilarity with audience participation. Perfect family holiday entertainment. Well, I would agree with all of that. It was spellbinding, fast-moving, and sheer enjoyment to watch. The performers' dexterity and skill were amazing. And I would certainly recommend it.
