went to see a feelgood theatre production of Arthur and the Britons in Heaton Park, Manchester on Sunday night. It was fantastic. This is where the scenes move around and the audience follows. The atmosphere was amazing. I would definately recommend any outdoor walk about performances to anyone, I have seen Much ado about nothing and Romeo and Juliette. All outstanding from small companies, that are often charities too that struggle against huge theatre productions. catherine xx |

Lynda I've just spotted your thread and had a quick look through. We saw A Slice of Saturday Night quite a lot of years ago with Alvin Stardust as the Club Owner. It was great and I wish it would come back. I still hum some of the songs now. I still have the soundtrack on cassette (!!!!) somewhere. |

Hello Lynda I saw Joseph and the Amazing Colour Dreamcoat a long time ago when Philip Scholfield was in it. I went with my sister and her husband, and it was brilliant. Think we saw it in Tottenham Court road. I remember singing the songs all the way home ! Jayne x |

Hiya theatre buffs! I just wondered if anyone has been or booked to see Wicked yet? We lurve the Wizard of Oz, so I wondered if it would be a good one to take the kids to - perhaps they are doing matinees over the Xmas period? Thanks !! Maz. XX |

I didn't even know that was on Lynda! Where is it please? Frances I love Les Mis too :-)) ex and f-i-l both mad on it - we used to have the video and CD, but they were 'his' so I haven't got them any more! I didn't like Miss Saigon though - too operatic for me - I couldn't understand the words! I'd like to take the kids to Les Mis, I know they do matinees, but I worry that it would be too long for them. Maz. XX |

Oops, forgot I had been waiting for you to come back so that I could post a message about a brilliant play that we went to see. It was 'The History Boys' and it was great. It's set in a sixth form college history class. Although they have had many scholars go to university they haven't had any go to Oxford or Cambridge. They bring in a new young tutor in the hope that he can teach them how to get in to one of these, much to the disappointment of the existing old master. It was both funny and moving in places and well worth a visit. Chrissie xx |

I had forgotten to add to this thread - Maz, I did go to see We Will Rock You - and, yes, it was fantastic! I would recommend it definitely. And I loved the framed photographs of Freddie on the walls. |

My Daughter in law, went to see Dirty Dancing last night, she said it was just like watching the film, she had a fabulous night, and really recommends it. Anyone else seen it, or seeing it? |

Has anyone seen The Complete Works of William Shakespeare ? It was by The Reduced Shakespeare Company and will be at the Arts Theatre from June until September. A website says Audiences are invited to loosen their doublets, sort out their singlets, clutch their codpieces and join these madcap men in tights as they weave their wicked way through all of Shakespeare’s 37 plays in just 97 minutes. A trio of actors perform Hamlet forwards, backwards and sideways and Titus Andronicus as a TV cookery programme, while Othello is given the ‘rap’ treatment. And as the comedies aren’t anywhere near as funny as the tragedies, all 16 are condensed into Four Weddings and a Transvestite. After ten years at the Criterion Theatre, The Complete Works became London’s longest-running comedy. It has since conquered the entire globe, becoming a cult classic in the process. It was praised by the Los Angeles Times as ‘wildly funny’ and by the Montreal Gazette as ‘the funniest show you are likely to see in your entire lifetime’. However, the show does come with a warning – that it’s not recommended for people with heart ailments, bladder problems, inner-ear disorders and/or people inclined to motion sickness. |

Joy - it's on my list! Apparently there was a very authentic feel to a recent production when a woman in the gallery threw up on the 'plebs' below! Methinks I'll be careful where I sit, lol! |
