Sand Report 19 Feb 2005 19:50

Great idea for a thread! SNF is fab! Lion King is amazing--wonderful costumes, music, etc. Jerry Springer is hysterical! But not for the faint-hearted! I really fancy 'Journey's End' and also 'Mary Poppins'.

Hi Lynda Sorry, I only just spotted your query about Journeys End. Hubby hasn't seen the new version, he saw it years ago. He says it is a good play. He loves anything at the theatre, so if you need company I'll put him on the train :)) Chrissie p.s. Hubby just said 'If they're doing it in London it will be good, they'll give it the works. Whatever that means :))

Hi Chrissie Thanks to your hubby, very nice of him, but going to Canterbury to see it, but if he likes I can do it again in London, love to get out to the Theatre. Will take his advice and book, but if I don't like it. will he refund the ticket price please:)))))

Christine2 Report 19 Feb 2005 23:17

Hi again Lynda He says 'sorry, but in line with most critics, I don't give refunds':)) He also said, seriously, he would love to know what the production is like after you have been please. That's why it's sometimes difficult to recommend a play, as the production can make all the difference. Chrissie x

Mags Report 20 Feb 2005 14:02

Lynda - forgot to tell you. I rang the Old Vic in Bristol the other day - I have a load of material that I thought might come in useful for costumes (they have their own costume department) - I offered it to them and they were pleased to have it.....BUT - guess what!...I get two free passes to any production they are putting on!!! - The brochure thingy arrived Friday....What to choose?...What to choose!......Either The Turning of The Screw...or The Importance of Being Earnest - I haven't watched either as a stage play....but my son could do 'A HAND -BAAAAG???? when he was about two years old! LOL....Or there's The Odyssey....loads of stuff...the theatre school too...I am spoiled for choice. Magsxx

karen in the new forest Report 21 Feb 2005 23:09

hi just got back well if you now the story its fine but nothing like the film very sparse with the props didnt change the scenery at all and they kept cracking jokes through it which spoiled it for me as its not that sort of play,we thought nigel havers was a weak maxim but maureen beattie who played mrs danvers was excellent, sorry but was a bit dissapointed. karen

Lynda ~

Lynda ~ Report 22 Feb 2005 15:07

That was a shame Karen, still at least you went, hope the rest of the night was good though. Lynda
