Please add your comments about a play. Or, ask if your going what the play is like. |

I love the Theatre so thought it would be nice to have a thread where we can reccomend a play, or ask if anyone has seen one and what they thought of it. We have a lovely Theatre in Canterbury and soon to be there is a play called Journey's End based on R.C. Sherriff’s experiences of the trenches. Anybody seen it? Lynda |

Good idea for a thread. I only go to the theatre to see pantomines (Ohhh yes I do) I'll probably go more when I'm older.I'm off to see Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf? next month as part of English `work` so I can tell you about that. |

We went to the dome in Morecambe yesterday and had a great time at Goldilocks and the three bears. The Dame was first class, but Goldilocks was a little bit weak. My little girl had a great time. Abigail |

It s not really Theatre as such, but I am very excited because tomorrow I shall be taken to the Albert Hall to see Carmen. It is my very favourite opera but I must be careful, I am inclined to hum along!!! |

I Love the theatre as well for the scenery, when I went to see Miss Saigon and they had a helicopter on stage I was amazed. went to see it 3 times and once went on a backstage tour, it was so interesting. Blood Brothers was so emotional, saw that 3 times and cried each time, even after I told myself, it's not real you see them get up after the performance! but that shows what good acting it is. The best I have seen is Phanton of the opera, it made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. I would definately see it again. Chicago is good but exactly the same as the film. I saw Disneys Beauty and the Beast about 3 years ago and that was excellent. I love going to the theatre! I have also seen some shows in our local theatre John Godbers 'Bouncers' is hilarious and 'Shakers is very funny too' Jack x |

What a great idea for a thread Lynda. I have to dash now but will have to rope hubby in later. It is his field of knowledge more than mine. He did say 'Journeys End' is an old play but a good one. Chrissie |

Jack Do you live near Hull Truck Theatre then? We have been a couple of times and we love the intimate informality. Will be sorry when they move to new premises, although we got lost both times and had to ring the theatre to guide us in :)))) Chrissie |

Hi Anne it's Woman in Black, only know because my son bought tickets for us to see it, small cast but quite gripping. Jack I also loved Phantom had the same effect on me as it did you. I have seen it twice and the second time was as good as the first. Deanna I saw Madam Butterfly, got the last ticket, so went on my own but loved it. Lynda |

If anyone lives near Scarborough, there are some great plays put on at the Stephen Joseph Theatre (run by Alan Ayckbourn). We have just booked a small break in April and will be able to see 2 different plays while we are there. One in the round and one in the McCarthy. Sorry Lynda - didn't mean to hog your thread - it's just a favourite subject of ours as we go to the theatre a lot. Mainly Amateur as we do it ourselves. Will go now (I promise):)))) Chrissie x |
